Isn't it likely to be somebody already on staff ?Who will our new OC be? The Texans have moved on from Slowpoke.
Maybe Bill Lazor or Jerrod Johnson. Would love to see what either guy has to offer. Or Klint Kubiak.Isn't it likely to be somebody already on staff ?
No to Johnson. No more unknowns. Give me someone who can go up against Reid.Kubiak or Jerrod Johnson.
When they're scouting they put the players in situations where they interract with existing members of the team. I wouldn't be surprised if they do something similar with coaches. Why not interview potential people with Stroud?
Stroud shouldn’t decide but he should his opinion heard.
Doug Peterson, Chip Kelly, Josh McCown, Jerrod Johnson, Mike LaFluer, Klint Kubiak, Brian Hartline and others should be brought in.
Got to get this one right.
No his opinion shouldn’t factor into that equation. He’s never been a OC let alone a coach in the NFL. Shoots he’s only has 2 years as a NFL quarterback who still has a lot to learn. Why not interview potential people with Stroud?

That was the approach taken with Watson. Why not interview potential people with Stroud?

I agree, we aren't looking for someone who will be BFF with Stroud. We need a coach, leader, and mentor. No offense to CJ, he has no idea what a good play caller and technician looks like. He hasn't been around one at this level. I want the entire offensive staff cleaned out.No his opinion shouldn’t factor into that equation. He’s never been a OC let alone a coach in the NFL. His opinion is irrelevant, I want to know what the OC can do with Stroud so… the only thing Stroud needs to be doing in these interviews is running plays exactly as called so we can see if the potential OC’s got it or not.Why not interview potential people with Stroud?

Good thought about getting CJ involved - after all, they have to work together and CJ probably has a good idea of who he thinks can help him.Why not interview potential people with Stroud?

Yeah? So you think CJ has learned nothing and hasn't got a clue? His opinion is irrelevant, I want to know what the OC can do with Stroud so… the only thing Stroud needs to be doing in these interviews is running plays exactly as called so we can see if the potential OC’s got it or not.
I disagree, think we ran into issues letting a rookie contract QB amass perceived power last go around. Should have taught him to stay in his lane on and off the field. Do your job and get better at it.Yeah? So you think CJ has learned nothing and hasn't got a clue?
I say let him put some names in the hat and NC puts some suggestions to him and see if he turns up his nose or not.
Your QB must be on board.

I'm going to say no to that one. I think Nick is going to want to bring in a solid name with a solid background. Do not be surprised if I college guy is hired.Isn't it likely to be somebody already on staff ?
Yes he’s more of an adult but like I said he doesn’t have enough experience on that level. I’m not even thinking about Watson and how he tried to use that as an excuse to get out of Houston. Maybe after year 5 he could be included in those type of decisions. But as of right now, all he needs to worry about is improving his craft.I said his opinion heard - meaning I will hear what you have to say but the decision is ultimately someone else’s to make.
Many organizations and business do the same thing for incoming executives. Have a hiring committee that puts their thoughts together on who the next hire should be. And just because it was the same approach as with Watson doesn’t mean CJ would be like Watson and go on vacation while the Texans are trying to hire a GM quickly. Or would demand a trade because the Texans don’t listen to him.
Stroud is more of an adult.
It wasn’t Hannah. More and likely it was Meco and Caserio pulling the trigger on this one.I don't know who made the ultimate call. Was it Cal and Hannah swooping in to save DeMeco from himself, like old man McNair did with Kubes...or was this the transition of DeMeco from defacto DC to HC?
If Meco made this call...I'm very bullish on his future. I'll leave that aside for now as I don't have enough info.
My first thought is Klint Kubiak, with Gary in some sort of advisory role to help craft the offense, break down film, and assist in making course corrections. Most of this could be done from his home, and if he's in...I'd be all over it.
Doug Pederson intrigues me more than Chip Kelly. Kelly struggled in Philly. Maybe he's learned? Worth an interview. Some of the others are lesser known names and we'll just see what happens.
As far as o-line coach...thank the lord that both were fired. Some people wanted to elevate Cole. Hell to the no on that!
My dream candidate, was...is...and will forever be Mike Munchak. A pretty close second is Benton. Again...some other lesser names will certainly get consideration.
All in all...I want external candidates who aren't stuck in a paradigm that is a remnant of the previous regime. Fresh start. And strong preference for experienced guys that have won. No OTJT. Obviously, the proof will be in the pudding, but just from an excitement/anticipation level, I'm now a lot more bullish on the coming season. I don't see how the line gets worse, and Bobby isn't that guy yet. He may get there, but he's not there now.
The attempted HB pass at the goal line against the Chargers soured me on Bobby. I didn’t think he was a huge issue against KC but, here we are.I also think the offense needs someone with Demeco’s SWARM energy. Frank Ross is a great match with Demeco with his energy.
Slowik on the other hand was too vanilla. Low energy.
The QB needs to be concerned about getting better in the off-season. He’s going to have some suggestions. However, the OC is going to need to be someone who can not only just play to Stroud’s strengths, he will need to challenge Stroud’s abilities as well.Yeah? So you think CJ has learned nothing and hasn't got a clue?

Munchak/Benton, would they not both be good prospects as OL coach? Munchak seemed pretty happy with his lot before he retired.I don't know who made the ultimate call. Was it Cal and Hannah swooping in to save DeMeco from himself, like old man McNair did with Kubes...or was this the transition of DeMeco from defacto DC to HC?

Now trade Tunsils lazy ass and complete the trifecta.
Same but at least we now know Demeco is all about winning.Completely shocked…wow…
They have a coach who can matchup with Reid’s offense. Now they need one to go against Spags. No to Johnson. No more unknowns. Give me someone who can go up against Reid.
Never doubted that, I just think the front office as a whole made this call. Meco was probably the only one who wasn’t gung ho about it but Nick, Cal and Hannah were like…Same but at least we now know Demeco is all about winning.
