Which off-season moves would you like the Texans to make? (Roster/FA)

Titans released D. Murray. Should the Texans consider given him a shot?

Titans to release veteran RB DeMarco Murray

The Titans have announced that they have informed running back DeMarco Murray that he will be released.

"I want to thank DeMarco for his contributions as a Titan, not only for what he did on the field but also in the locker room and in the community," Titans general manager Jon Robinson released in a statement. "He was a pro in every facet and we wish him and his family the best moving forward."

I'm not a big fan of older RB's. And by older, I mean RB's above say 28 years old as far as signing one to a FA contract. They have a short shelf life and I just think a young guy is what is needed.

Gaines if he's available go after him. We could use a shutdown corner. But we know he won't come here after what was said and knowing he' a big advocate of the current political outrage.
IMHO, it would be a major mistake to go after Sherman. He now has a ruptured Achilles tendon and has had two surgical procedures on it. Very, very doubtful he is even remotely a shut down corner anymore.

I posted this in the NFL section on March 1:

Pete Carroll says Richard Sherman just had second, “minor” ankle surgery on other Achilles. “A bit of a setback on the other side” because in a boot but rehab continues. “Nothing specific” on trade talk re: Sherman. #Seahawks @thenewstribune

The chances of him being what he has been even in the past 1 1/2 years, after the Achilles rupture, especially this season, is incredibly low. If that isn't enough, after his "minor" ankle surgery which was a debridement of an already fraying Achilles on the nonruptured side (and possibly with bone spur removal), his chances for rupture goes even higher than the normally expected 10% risk of seeing a rupture in the contralateral Achilles. And don't forget there is also a 5% chance that the repaired side reruptures in the future.

dion lewis on a cheap contract would be great. need someone after foreman's unfortunate achilles situation (best would be sit him out this year too)

**UPDATED NFL RUMORS**

The #Titans have just released veteran S Da’Norris Searcy, according to @UniSportsMgmt. Another starting strong safety on the market.

I think Texans will make a run for EJ Gaines at CB. Would be an under the radar pickup that presumably would be a good value signing. Gaine has experience with him since he was in Buffalo last offseason when they traded for him.

Their rookie CB grabbed the majority of the headlines but when Gaines missed time I remember they gave up big plays. In particular, the Cincy game when AJ Green roasted the rookie after Gaines got hurt.

Expect Panthers pursue Jonathan Joseph – A Local Boy – to fill void of Darryl Worley’s departure. Surprised Torrey Smith @ $5M has value to Panthers. Just gave away young CB on rookie deal b/c Smith was bound to be cut. Old Marty Hurney is back, folks.

EJ is one of the CBs I want. Along with Kyle Fuller and S Tre Boston.

Doubt we get Kyle Fuller because of the transition tag.
But I'm all for going after Nate Solder, EJ Gaines, Aaron Colver, Eric Reid, and Tyrann if he gets cut.
You could be right but I'm thinking they will not get what they want and remove the tag.

Ryan Pace had to answer a simple question: did Fuller’s 2017 performance convince him the corner was worthy of top corner money? Applying the transition tag answers that question with a definitive NO. The Bears like Fuller. But if they valued him as a top corner, there were plenty of deals struck at the position last off-season to set the market.

I think Fuller can pretty much control his side of field & Chicago did bring in free agents to replace them but Fuller held his job with best season of his contract. PFF graded him at 84 and that could bring competition for Texans if he is not traded.

Could there be a good reason for the Seahawks to be so willing to part with Thomas besides their lack of draft picks?

Yes. He has one more year left on his contract and the Seahawks have no intentions on making a 30 year old the highest paid safety in the league (which is what he’ll probably command). They want to trade him to simply get something for him while they can. Also, obvious Seahawks are doing a mini-rebuild by trading Bennett and cutting Sherman.

Not specific to Thomas but teams have shown a willingness to part with productive veteran players for draft picks this offseason. The added cap space from rookie contracts are essential to retool your roster. Especially with how much you have to pay for a decent QB in this market.

In the Texans case i’d love to make a run for Thomas. He will still be a top flight safety for the next 3-4 years... while our franchise QB is playing on his rookie contract :)

The #Patriots are completing a trade for massive former #Browns 1st round pick DT Danny Shelton, sources say.

-Ian Rapoport

Wonder if the Browns will go after Suh if he’s cut.

The Patriots are sending a 2019 3rd-round pick to Cleveland for DT Danny Shelton and a 2018 5th-round pick, per sources. Deal goes thru Wednesday.

Seems more like the Seahawks are looking to dump several of their key players following significant injury problems that they think will follow them throughout the remainder of their careers

If we get one of those CBs, Boston AND we re-sign Jo Jo to a team friendly deal i’m feeling great about the secondary next season.
Yeah, this would allow K Johnson to be played and evaluated to advantage rather than starting if he isn't ready; same with Trestond Decoud. This is the off season to step up as starters are available at our need positions and we have cap space with more that can be created.

I can’t believe how Boston signed a 1 year prove it deal for 900k and he absolutely proved it. He’s gonna make a lot more this offseason. Wish our Texans had known he was a diamond in the rough.

If these NFL players don't produce fast they depreciate in value almost as quickly as a new car when its driven off of the lot.
Shelton was the 12th overall pick in the 2015 Draft, just 3 years ago and he's only 24, and yet all the Pats need to acquire him is a late-round pick and 2019 mid round pick.

Sherman - "I want to go to a contender."

Possibly going to sign with the 49ers. It's all about the money. 49ers are trending up, but they aren't contending anytime soon.
Not knocking him, just saying.

Players don't have an offaeason mantra of "it will take three years to rebuild." They'll look at a JimmyG streak.

You guys follow this Facebook fan page of the Texans? They are close to the FO it seems.

“If you thought this week was crazy, you’re in for a treat next week! Monday opens the tampering period, Texans have SEVERAL key names lined up and ready to pounce! Just spoke with two players who said the front office is gearing up for a fast a furious approach!“
