What would be your ideal outcome, come draft day?

How'd I know that 3/4ths of the posts in this thread would be about trading down for crap?

because 3/4 of the board realizes what an extra 2 or 3 picks in this deep draft can net us. Why is it that only 1/4 of the board are wanting to stay put and actually feel that is best for the TEAM?? Why is that 1/4 still arguing over who to take at #1??

Basicly, according to the math you propose...along with a little of mine:

Trade down camp 75%
Stay @ #1 - Bush 12.5%
Stay @ #1 - Vince 12.5%

I would traade the first pick to the jets for that godfather deal which would be picks 4, 29, and 35 plus our other pick we have

4.) vince young, would back up carr but will play alot
29.)Lendale white , when he get healthy running will be real good this year
33.) Andrew Whitworth, is very underated but will start at Lt or Rt
35.)Antonio Cramartie, speed and size and will be great opposite D-Rob
65.)Gerris Wilkinson, if he doesnt start he will provide quality dept at olb
66.)Devin Hester, will be mathis of punt return and coach Hoke special project

so we would have filled in all of our holes on the team and are going to be the wild card in the AFC South with a better team and coaches plus with Vince in the fold

If we make the playoffs, then it obviously means David Carr had a strong performance, in which case the Vince Young pick becomes somewhat of a waste. Andrew Whitworth is also not close to being worth the #33 pick, he should easily be available in the 3rd round and would be a decent option there. I don't see Cromartie falling out of the 1st, and I really doubt LenDale White will fall to #29 either. Hester is somewhat of a waste with that high of a pick too.

I wanna see our coaching staff assemble, teach, prepare & execute an admirable season. Reggie or VY, CB or Oline, I trust our staff to make these decisions that will put a quality football product on the field. I'm not asking for an undefeated season or even 8-10 wins. If we win 6-7 games & we collectivley see light at the end of the tunnel, then I am satisified. I want so bad for this coaching staff to succeed if nothing else, to shut some people up on this board that claim to love the NFL but clearly can't stand our Texans.

Good post.

I still like my idea, even though it wouldn't happen (both the trade and many of the players won't fall that far):

#4 Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State (I doubt he falls to #4, but this is my ideal draft so he does)
#29 Johnathan Joseph, CB, South Carolina (see description for Mario)
#33 Eric Winston, OT, Miami FL (see previous descriptions)
#36 Nick Mangold, C/G, Ohio St. (see previous descriptions)
#65 Daniel Bullocks, FS, Nebraska or Ko Simpson, FS, South Carolina (both are athletic FS that should be able to start for us)
#66 Brandon Marshall, WR, Central Florida (Similar to Maurice Stovall but has gotten less attention since he's from a smaller school)
#97 Terna Nande, LB, Miami OH or Leon Williams, LB, Miami FL (both are athletic and should be solid LBs)

We get three new defensive starters (Mario, Joseph, and Bullocks/Simpson), two new starting OLinemen, and a WR and LB that should be nice depth and future starters.

Could'nt have said it better or plainer myself, cudos to you Coach Jim.:redtowel:

We trade with the jets for their two first.

1a. Mario Williams
1b. Eric Winston
2. Johnathan Joseph
3a. Ko Simpson
3b. Chris Chester
4. Ray Edwards
6. Leon Williams
7. Rodikus Wright

I still believe this would have been one hell of a draft. I'm more than happy with how our draft did turn out though and I have no complaints about the way the FO has managed our drafts.

It's fun to look back. I had Mario and Winston as my top two guys, and we got them both. I had Winston as a first round talent, and to be honest, he has pretty much met that expectation. I still believe Ko Simpson would have solved a lot. Rodikus Wright was not the Rod Wright from UT. Rodikus was a beast of a DT playing at a lower level after transferring from DI. I don't know where he is now, but he was an athletic freak with numbers to back him up. To this day I'll stand by my drafts. Some other guys had some dang good draft projections as well.

It's amazing how many people had us taking Winston even higher than where we got him and not hardly a word about Charles Spencer who we actually took before him. I usually stay away from specifics in this type of thread because I don't know as much as I should about college ball but some of these guys did pretty decent in their picks.
