What would be your ideal outcome, come draft day?

Waterboy
please try to keep this realistic, feel free to get a little crazy, but nothing like bush in teh first, d'brick in teh 2nd, mario in the 3rd etc.

as for me, i'd like to trade with the NYJ for their #4 and #29, then the texans get either mario first if available, then d'brick if he's there and mario is not. with the #29 and #33, the best LB and OT available. maybe mcneil or winstrom at OL and greenway, ryans, jackson or lawson at LB. if that happened i'd be extremely pleased.

1st round - Bush (HB)
2nd round - D'Qwell Jackson (MLB)
3rd round - Ko Simpson (FS)
3rd round(2) - Daryn Colledge (OL)
4th round - Elvis Dumervil (DE)
6th round - Best available OL

trade to the 3-5 area, pick up an additional 2nd & next year's first (anything after that is a bonus, to keep it from seeming like i'm cheating).

1. D'brick
2A. Carpenter (doubtful he'll be there, would be a steal)
2B. Youboty
3A. Daryn Colledge
3B. KO
4. Dusty Dvoracek
5+ ... ? (DB's)

edited.

well hmm. the ideal situation is to just win regardless of draft pick, but in order for this to fit I will go with this. Trade with the Titans for their second and second next year. We Move to three. Titans take Leinart.

1. Mario Williams
2a. Jonathan Joseph
2b. Nick Mangold
3a. Daryn Colledge
3b. Brandon Marshall
4. Leon Williams
6. Antoine Bethea
7. Tavaris Jackson

My ideal outcome is that we start to play some football and stop talking about players who have never played a down of football in the NFL.

We trade with the jets for their two first.

1a. Mario Williams
1b. Eric Winston
2. Johnathan Joseph
3a. Ko Simpson
3b. Chris Chester
4. Ray Edwards
6. Leon Williams
7. Rodikus Wright

Im looking for:

1 RB Reggie Bush
2 OLB DeMeco Ryans
3 OT Johnathan Scott
3 CB Alan Zemaitis
4 SS Bernard Pollard
6 ILB Aaron Harris
7 PR/KR Jeremy Bloom

I'm with everyone else who thinks the perfect draft day gets us the best players possible and ends all this debate.

However, I do have a list for consideration:

1. Bush
2a. KO Simpson
2b. Eric Winston
3a. Tye Hill
3b. Dave Thomas

This gives us a skills player, key additions to a limp defensive secondary, and bolsters the right side of the offensive line. The big question I see is whether or not the Texans are willing to risk losing Winston by waiting till the late second round to take him.

I think I know what Casserly's dream draft would be like.

Trade from 1st to 3rd, and pick up a 2nd round pick, then trade from 3rd to the 5th for another 2nd rounder, then get BPA.

I think they would actually take Vince with the 5th selection if Reggie, Mario, and D'Brick are gone.

How do we get a 2a and 2b without trading down. Well anyway, I think the only way we trade down, is to get both of NYs 1st rounders, their second next year and a 4th this year... sooo this is my ideal draft.

1a. D'Brickashaw Ferguson
1b. Antonio Cromartie
2. D'Qwell Jackson
3a.Pat Watkins
3b.Greg Eslinger

1) Get BPA (best player available) with the HPA (highest pick available) i.e. Reggie Bush

2) Fill needs at OT, S, and CB (with the 2, 3a, 3b picks most likely)

3) Get BPA upgrades with the remaining picks... hopefully at the LB and OG/C spots

4) Have no drafted players not on the roster/practice squad come September

Random Mock Draft:

1) Reggie Bush - RB, USC
2) Antonio Cromartie - CB, FSU
3a) Ko Simpson - S, South Carolina
3b) Daryn Colledge - OT, Boise State
4) Jon Alston - WLB, Stanford
6) Donovan Raiola - OG/C, Wisconsin
7) BPA

ahh, the I can dream thread....

Trade with Jets - pick up 2nd, and 3rd this year and second next year. It's not enough if you go by the book...but I like Young long term so you may as well get a little something something and take him at 4. We trade Carr for a future pick as well.

1) Vince Young, QB Texas
2) Ashton Youboty, CB Ohio St.
2) Marcedes Lewis, TE UCLA
3) Daryn Colledge - OT, Boise State
3) Gerris Wilkinson, LB Georgia Tech
3) Greg Eslinger, C Minnesota

Trade the first pick on the second day to someone who will give us a 3 next year. Next year we have two 2's and 2 third round picks...this won't happen...but I can dream too. The expansion era closes, and we have a young promising core that can grow together from here.

I dont know if we need Dumervil, we could probably use our fourth for a must need at the time of the draft, but besides that I give this One a thumbs up. :ok:

O yea where is Jackson from?

Trade with Jets for their 2 1st's (#4 & #29) and their 2nd (#35)
Trade with Raiders for their 1st (#7) and their 2nd (#38)

So for the #1 we end up with #7, #29, #35, #38 that is 4 picks + our 2nd which gives us 5 picks in the top 38. Value wise our 1st is worth 3000. We get 3225 in value from the Jets. The #4 pick we get from the Jets is worth 2000. Value wise from the Raiders we get 2130. If Mario Williams is there at 4 we don't trade with the Raiders.

The way you get the Raiders to move up is call them when we are on the clock with the #4 pick and tell them we are going to take Vince Young because he is a better value for us at #4. We tell them we are willing to trade down so we can aquire more picks but if not our best value would be to take VY. The Raiders know we are serious because Vince is the hometown guy so they move up with us and take him.

1a-Michael Huff S
1b-Laurence Maroney RB
2a-Eric Winston OT
2b-Davin Joseph OG
2c-D'Qwell Jackson MLB
3a-Roger McIntosh OLB
3b-Dominique Byrd TE
4-William Blackmon CB
6-Julian Jenkins DE (if still there)
7-Aldo De La Garza C

wow, that's a bit of a stretch but still very possible. i think i'd faint if that happens.

i, to, agree with everyone saying "i want to win no matter who we get" but then again, we can always express who we'd liek to see so this is more of a fun suggestion as opposed to a "texans do this" thread, so just keep it fun guys.

The ideal draft day would involve zero threads about how we passed up the greatest QB ever for a short, underweight, weenie who cuts it to the outside every time because he's afraid of contact.

Greatest.

Quarterback.

Ever.

Dem's some mighty big words, mister.

Heh heh

You've gotta be kidding me! There is NO way I make that trade! I wouldn't even BEGIN to talk to the Jets unless they include both first round picks this year and their 2nd for this year and that still wouldn't be enough. The number 1 pick is worth 3000 points on the draft value chart. The Jets 1st (#4), 2nd and 3rd for this year only add up to 2540 points (both 1sts (#4 and #29) and 2nd this year = 2980)....and who knows what their 2nd round for next year will be worth. They may actually be a better team (although I doubt it) and pick lower in the draft order which would decrease the value of their 2nd round pick for next year.

I've also seen a lot of mock drafts that have Titans picking VY. I think if we trade down to 4, we chance missing out of him if that's what we really want to do.

I'm going to go the "realistic" route with mine.

1. Reggie Bush - HB (USC)

2. Thomas Howard - OLB (UTEP) (first choice Winston, but I think he will be gone) Many other good choices here as well.

3a. Daryn Colledge OT/OG (Boise St)
3b - Trade down to middle of 3rd for a teams 4th this yr -
Select with 3b choice - Alan Zemaitis - CB/safety? (Penn State)

4a - Trade down to mid of round for a 3rd next year.
Choice at 4a - Anthony Smith - FS (Syracuse)
4b (acquired in trade) - Tony Scheffler TE (Western Michigan)

6- Anthony Schlegel - ILB (Ohio St)

7 - Chris Kuper - OG (North Dakota)

To sum up, I have a game breaking RB/WR hybrid at #1, a super fast hard hitting Boss Bailey type of athlete for an OLB in Howard, a versatile zone blocking tackle/guard in Colledge who can probably play 4 spots and should excel in this system, a big strong physical cover 2 type CB who some want to convert to safety in Zemaistis, a smart instinctive big hitting FS in Anthony Smith, a tremendous recieving TE who has the size to become a good blocker in Scheffler, a hard working run stuffing but physically limited ILB in Schlegel, and a zone blocking guard project in Kuper who has more upside in this system than others but may never be more than a backup. And, I have garnered a 3rd rounder for next year as well.

Not a bad haul if I say so myself.:yahoo:

Trade 2nd round pick to move down about 10 spots and pickup a 3rd

1. Bush (gamebreaker)
43. Dqwell Jackson (best MLB in the draft)
65. Ced Griffin (impoves FS position and dime defense)
66. Colledge (great OT prospect, could play guard also)
75. W. Blackmon (project, with Griffin drafted, he's a luxury in 2006)
98. A Fasano (TE with very good heighth and a plus blocker

if we stay where we are:
1 Bush
2 Cromartie/Jonathan Joseph/Winston
3 Ko
3b Davin Joseph

Trade down with jets-for #4,#29,#36

#4 Mario/ Vernon Davis if mario is gone
#29 Cromartie/ J Joseph
#33 Winston
#36 D'quell Jackson
#65 Ko
#66 Davin Joseph
#98 Best rb/te available

Ideal outcome has already passed since Carr was given his option.

Reality based outcome on my white board at work:

1. Bush
33. Winston if he slips, otw Youboty, Jennings or Cromartie
65. If 33 is a DB, then Scott or Colledge otw best CB on the board
66. Hodge (assuming DQ is long gone)

1st pick on Day 2: best FS or G available

and back to ideal outcome...VY to anyone but the Titans

If any team was willing to give up their #1 + #2 this year, and #1 next year for Reggie Bush I would make that trade. This year is a deep draft, and next year Adrian Petterson will be comming out and he has a better chance at being a stud in NFl then reggie or Vince in my opinion. Just my opinion though.

Yo so if we traded with the Titans for 3rd and they take Leinart with the 1st pick

The saints would still take either Mario, or D'Brick, cuz they have Deuce Mcallister and they just signed him to a big deal so now the texans are on the clock

UMMM... We would still get Reggie Bush, which is why this will never happen

The Titans wouldnt give us more draft picks just so we can end up with who we wanted with th #1 pick.

Trade with the Jets for #4, #29, 3rd rounder this year and next.

1a) D'Brick LT

3b) Spencer Havner I/Olb
3c) Greg Eslinger C
4-) Will Blackmon Cb/Wr
6-) James Anderson Olb or Aarron Harris Ilb

i'd be really excited if we did this, and according to Kiper's new Mock it's entirely possible except for he has Kiwanuka going to the seahawks in round two.
1.) Reggie Bush
2.) Eric Winston
3a.) Mathias Kiwanuka
3b.) Ko Simpson
4.) Alan Zemaitis/Eslinger

1) RB Reggie Bush, U.S.C.
2) CB Richard Marshall, Fresno St
3) LB Leon Williams, Miami
3) OT Daryn Colledge, Boise St
4) FS Nate Salley, Ohio St
6) G Jason Spitz, Louisville
7) DE Brandon Guillory, Louisiana-Monroe

I like this one pretty well, doubt it happens but since this thread is titled our ideal draft then let's go with it:

#4 Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State (I doubt he falls to #4, but this is my ideal draft so he does)
#29 Johnathan Joseph, CB, South Carolina (see description for Mario)
#33 Eric Winston, OT, Miami FL (see previous descriptions)
#36 Nick Mangold, C/G, Ohio St. (see previous descriptions)
#65 Daniel Bullocks, FS, Nebraska or Ko Simpson, FS, South Carolina (both are athletic FS that should be able to start for us)
#66 Brandon Marshall, WR, Central Florida (Similar to Maurice Stovall but has gotten less attention since he's from a smaller school)
#97 Terna Nande, LB, Miami OH or Leon Williams, LB, Miami FL (both are athletic and should be solid LBs)

I would traade the first pick to the jets for that godfather deal which would be picks 4, 29, and 35 plus our other pick we have

4.) vince young, would back up carr but will play alot
29.)Lendale white , when he get healthy running will be real good this year
33.) Andrew Whitworth, is very underated but will start at Lt or Rt
35.)Antonio Cramartie, speed and size and will be great opposite D-Rob
65.)Gerris Wilkinson, if he doesnt start he will provide quality dept at olb
66.)Devin Hester, will be mathis of punt return and coach Hoke special project

so we would have filled in all of our holes on the team and are going to be the wild card in the AFC South with a better team and coaches plus with Vince in the fold

1)Reggie Bush
2)Bobby Carpenter if there, if not best OL
3)Best CB
3)Best MLB
4)Chris Gocong
6)BPA
7)AJ Schable, Digger Anderson or Tank Daniels

Did this quickly and without thinking. Just my ideal outcome.

for the dolphins :D

1) kamerion wimbley, manny lawson, santonio holmes
3) pat watkins, cedric griffin, omar jacobs
4) mike hass

1. Bush
33. Winston/D.Jackson/Best DB available(Joseph, Whitner, Cromartie etc)
65. If no DB selected, Ko Simpson, If no MLB selected, Gerris Wilikinson or A Hodge
66. Colledge, or BPA

I wanna see our coaching staff assemble, teach, prepare & execute an admirable season. Reggie or VY, CB or Oline, I trust our staff to make these decisions that will put a quality football product on the field. I'm not asking for an undefeated season or even 8-10 wins. If we win 6-7 games & we collectivley see light at the end of the tunnel, then I am satisified. I want so bad for this coaching staff to succeed if nothing else, to shut some people up on this board that claim to love the NFL but clearly can't stand our Texans.

Reggie Bush is NOT the answer either. A Herschel Walker kind of deal is the only trading down I would consider. Until we solidify the leadership role at quarterback you can have all the offensive and defensive players you want and you'll still fail. A new and improved offensive line isn't going to make David Carr better. A runningback like Reggie Bush isn't going to make the offense better if you have to run every down. The defense won't get any better either until the offense is a LOT more productive. People need to take the blinders off and have a reality check.

1 Bush RB

trade down and pick up 5th rd pick

4 Zemartis CB
5 Stetterstom OL
6 Schlegle ML
7 Slay SS

This is what I've been tring to say for the last three months. You start running through what you're going to pick up by passing up the two glory childern, mind boggeling. Trouble is getting someone to bite. Normal drafts I'd be with you but this year it isn't normal. Outside of WRs, you've got first round guys splashing over into the second, ect., ect all the way into the fourth round. I mean you got a solid RT prospect like Trueblood sliding into the fourth , you know the draft is deep and wide. Even CC couldn't mess this up.

I can't fault anyones list. Lots of good picks. Liked buffsoldier's the best of course. :ok:

after looking at a few of these, i think the texans could realistically get the #4, #29 and #35 for the #1 from the jets. that being said, i'll give my first 3 round picks at what i'd like.

#4 - Mario Williams - DE NC State
#29 - Bobby Carpenter - OLB Ohio State
#33 - Eric Winston - OT Miami
#35 - Antonio Cromartie - CB FSU
#65 - Ko Simpson/Darnell Bing (best S available) - S South Carolina/USC
#66 - Anthony Fasano - TE Notre Dame
