I know the thought has been around going young stud prospect in the draft, and no one seems too excited about the usual FA suspects, but is it even possible to work a trade with Detroit? Draft picks for Stafford? Dude just had a 67%, 4300 yards, 32 TD/13 INT, 97% rating year and it wasn't even his career best in several of those categories. Other than having to acquire via trade, because Detroit may be unwilling, is it just a matter of possibly wanting more than we are willing to give? Former 1:1 with proven stats and playoff appearances. Just too expensive? Honest questions.
BOTTOM LINE With a body type that is as prototypical as they come and a background in reading the entire field and working through progressions, Wentz will immediately check a couple of boxes that many college quarterbacks won’t be able to check. While his arm strength is okay, he can still make all the throws and he can make them with accuracy. His ability to escape pressure and pick up first downs with his feet will be yet another check mark in his favor. Wentz is still in a developmental phase after just two years at an FBS program, but the mental and physical building future, franchise quarterback.
I thought Savage went down with a season ending injury in late preseason.v
If Savage was worth a sh!t ... He wouldn't have spent the entire season on IR. He would have either had a roster spot or been designated for return.
Hackenberg .... is about as accurate as Mullet & Hoyer. QB's can improve in a lot of areas but accuracy usually isn't one of those where they take a great leap.
If you NEED a QB and you draft one , you draft one with potential to be a star , just mid round crap shoots.
If you HAVE a QB , that's when you draft mid & late round crap shoots .... you either strike out , have a solid backup or a guy who you can trade when the time is right.
In my opinion there are only two in this draft with stud potential - Goff & Wendt. This team NEEDS a QB desperately .... they need to do everything they can to go get one of those two guys.
Sure , those high draft choices can turn up craps too .... but the odds that they are serviceable or better are significantly better than their late round counterparts.

Does Detroit have any interest in moving him? Looks like they are going to clear Calvin off their books this year. Let Suh walk last year. Maybe they want to start fresh or maybe he is their build around key piece.
27 with 2 years left on his contract. If traded reasonable cap hits of $17 and $16.5 to the acquiring team.
Price tag?
I hope they make a phone call to explore but not going to get my hopes up.

I bet in hind sight they regret doing that, he could have got some good experience this year and could have let everyone know where the team stood with him with talent and QB intelligence. Not endorsing him, was just stating it wasn't his fault for not being out there. He went down with an injury he should have recovered from mid-season. The Texans made it season ending by putting him on IR without a designated to return.

What's the rule on IR players and their participation in practice once recovered? Did Savage get a chance to practice once recovered? I want to believe that he's progressed atleast somewhat over the past 6 months.
Agreed.
I also feel that Chip will focus on a run heavy attack with Kap and Hyde, as he will actually have a dual threat QB. Kap probably isn't the future there but he can be worked with while Chip develops better receivers and defenders.
I like the idea, just don't know why Detroit would do it. They're ok, cap wise & just gave Caldwell the ok. I doubt they're in rebuild mode.
What could we possibly give them to make them want to do it?
This year's first, Cush & Foster? They don't have another QB under contract for 2016
They can attend meetings put cannot practice. Huge mistake if they in any way thought of Savage competing in 2016.

There's no way OB is wasting a roster spot or a PS spot for Q in 2015.The dude simply wasn't going to play. I think IR was definitely the right call with Q. Mental reps, meetings and film study will all help him. Don't forget about what CnD has said about trauma to his body after chemo. I wouldn't want to see him practicing with the team.Quessenbery as well.
O'b told Q during hard knocks that the Texans see him playing football in the future, but he's been away from the game so long that they decided to IR him again. Which doesn't make sense to me, because he can't work out with the team & he's even further away from being in "football shape"
I think they shouldn't have IR'd him, get him to the practice squad & let him prepare for next season.
Unless, O'b doesn't see him playing & we're just trying to get him closer to a 5 year career.
Titans are not giving a divisional rival the #1 overall spot for anything less than an epic deal that would dwarf what St. Louis got from Washington for the RG3 draft. The Titans probably aren't going to take a QB but the Browns might. Trade up with one of those two teams and get Wentz at any cost. Even if it takes 1st picks in '17 and '18.
Speaking of which who do you think will sign Bradford as that will eliminate 1 qb needy team at least from early round QBs

The Browns ARE taking a QB. No doubt in my mind
He reportedly asked the Eagles for $25 mil per year, according to ESPN. Doubt he stays in Philly.
If Bradford did that he's delusional, smoking the reefer with Thorn ( or his drug of choice) or he wants the hell out of Philly. I hope the Texans don't decide to take a flyer on this guy. I'd rather see RGIII. I'm getting more and more interested in him and what he could do in an offense featuring DHOP, Strong ( I liked how he progressed over the season and think he will be a solid #2 WR) and Elliott at RB (my personal choice in the 1st round). If the Texans could somehow get a better than average TE, either through the draft or FA, that could be an explosive offense. Elliott, Grimes and Akeem Hunt ( I like that kid) would be a pretty decent backfield. Blue and/or Polk might stick around for ST's, but wouldn't be featured in the backfield.I don't normally buy into the teams don't trade with division rivals truism (see Babin trade) but in this instance yes, can't see the Titans paving the way for the Texans to get a franchise QB.
That sounds like a reporter with a horrible source. No way Bradford thinks he should be highest paid QB in the league...by far. $15 mil is a huge stretch for him.
At the time it seemed reasonable to conserve the designation with two starting QB candidates in the fold. Just because it didn't work as it SHOULD HAVE, doesn't make it a poor decision. He went down with an injury he should have recovered from mid-season. The Texans made it season ending by putting him on IR without a designated to return.
Of course he CAN work out with friends on the side so it doesn't have to be lost time.Wow, I didn't realize this.
Of course, getting those extra choices from a division rival makes the price like a two for one sale. Which is why I'm against paying the prevailing rate. Two 1s and a mid round would be my limit and that isn't close to book.Titans are not giving a divisional rival the #1 overall spot for anything less than an epic deal that would dwarf what St. Louis got from Washington for the RG3 draft.

You start HIGH at the beginning of negotiations. I suspect Philly started at his current Salary or less. It's the game.He reportedly asked the Eagles for $25 mil per year, according to ESPN. Doubt he stays in Philly.

That narrows the range quite nicely if the franchise tag is at 20m. It would likely be treated as a one year prove it deal and the negotiations will stall out. If they do not use the tag, Stafford becomes a free agent and probably less money but with a fresh start and likely a multi year contract..There is talk the Philly is thinking of franchise tagging him, so that a 1 yr $20 mil deal. outrageous

True, but that's how the game is played by most negotiators. You never want to go lower than the other side if you're the player or higher than the other side if you're the club. You feel each other out, occasionally act insulted for effect, and then proceed with an exchange for why you are closer than the other side. You start high =/= you start stupid.

Bradford?
If he hits FA, he's looking at a low ball deal. Maybe someone will pay him $5M. But if I were him I'd be looking for a one year deal to try to win a multi year deal
Putting Bradford’s supposed $25 million per year demand in contextYeah Bradford has done nothing in his time so far to suggest that he should start high, much less at over tag level. He should just be hoping for a chance to start somewhere

Hoyer is getting $5.25. Bradford's market is north of that.

yea but that article said Philly opened up at $10 mil a year. I wouldnt even want to give Bradford that
says? Bradford is pedestrian at best.Hoyer is getting $5.25. Bradford's market is north of that.

Then Hoyer must be slime at best.says? Bradford is pedestrian at best.
What does that make Hoyer? Quadriplegic?
That's an insult to quadriplegics.
Yeah, but would you be OK with Savage is our QB? I would, but few are.I honestly don't care if it is via draft, trade or FA. What I want is for OB to say "THIS is our guy" and not make it another damned open "competition" thing where the predetermined starter isn't announced until the last pre-season game. Make a F***ING DECISION early and go with it!
