Mingo might not have made the team

many who cover the Seahawks who have speculated Mingo would not have made the team.

He has played for four different teams, three in the past three years, and has 10 career sacks. He graded out as decidedly average overall according to Pro Football Focus and slightly above average in pass rush.

Hope for Martin

Jacob Martin is a former sixth round pick for the Seahawks. He graded out as decidedly average overall according to Pro Football Focus and slightly above average in pass rush the same as Mingo. He has three sacks last year and 19 hurries.

Mingo is a bust that keeps hanging onto a job.

I feel bad for the Martin kid. He might be able to help the team. Brennan Scarlett got an extension, for pete's sake. But, Martin will never live up to this trade. He's never going to be Clowney.

OB is like that fantasy player that offers the 5 scrubs for 1 star thinking it's fair because hey, it's 5 for 1. Except OB is not actually the guy who offers it, he's the guy who accepts it.
& you're like, "I ain't got 5 spots on my roster."

So... who we keeping? Just extended Scarlett & Whitney. Martin & Mingo. That's 4 edge rushers. Can't play them all at the same time.

?
Downright depressing.
I am trying to see a bright spot in this but there isn't one.
We need RB, T, and Corner help and we get two linebackers?
Worst trade I ever saw.
Interesting as in who saw this coming? Hope it works out better than how it appears on the surface. So, yep, interesting.

We lose a top flight run stopper in Clowney and get two guys who Seattle were likely to cut so I am curious as to any possible interest you might see?

Keep Martin, he can play and is ascending, but not at Clowney's level. NOt sure I see using a 53 spot for Mingo so this is weird. We had a depth issue outside

Somebody has a death wish for Houston and it could be OB as he knows his days are numbered. We could have at least got a starting guard or center.

Clowney was dead money. He simply was not going to play here again with his salary demands ala Le’Veon Bell. This saga isn’t over until DW is signed to his huge contract, but welcome Martin and Mingo.

He wanted to play on the tag here or sign an extension. That was reported multiple times. He did not want to go to Miami

I don't get how so many people are so high on that crown. only thing he can do well is run D and that's it. trash at pass cover. trash at sacks while having JJ healthy last season. and too lazy/stupid to pull flagssss during playoff game lmao

He wanted to play on a DE tag. Not going to get into that over a million bucks but it had huge implications for his new contract. It just was not going to happen with a DW and others waiting in line. Time to move on.

guess were just going to ignore clowneys 18 sacks the past 2 seasons. Let’s also erase the fact when injury prone JJ was out 2017. Clowney was the star of this defense ranked #1. Texans are the worst franchise in sports. Trade Deshaun and let him have a good nfl career.

These guys are both scrubs.

Neither should make the team.
Funny, ESPN’s Seattle affiliate before the trade were really high on Martin...specifically being impressed with his QB hurries for such a low snap count. They said he needs to keep his weight up but they are quoted as saying he’s on everbody’s 2019 breakout player list. They call him a high energy and active pass rusher.

Funny. You think these guys are good and are seemingly in favor of the trade.

No he was going to play on what they tagged.

For a guy who accuses me of speculation you are throwing out some blatantly false posts.

Seattle radio guy on 610:

Mingo is a good special teamer, bad rusher

Martin is a good rushed but 3rd down specialist because he is light and can't set the edge against the run

Yeah and who let it get that way? Skirt around the real issue all you want. This is a black eye on this organization and it’s because of OB.

All I said he WANTED to play on a DE tag. That is so correct it was headed to arbitration before the trade stuff started. It was just the couple mil extra but huge for his contract extension negotiations. Comprehension problems?

Given the large salary cap space, who really gives a f about a couple million to keep your star happy? They wasted all the cap space but can't show any good will to their young and talented player?

They could've kept him for this season and then traded him next season. They didn't need to give him away for jack ****.

What have I said about Mingo besides I’m not big on him in another post. Wanted to see what Martin was about. This guy has upside I found out. What if I seem to be in favor of the trade. I’ve seen all the never ending negative **** for weeks now. This trade is layered as to emotion. I’ve always supported Clowney on this board and didn’t want to trade him. But his salary demands are off the chart. Building a roster is a balancing act and without cap space nor the foresight to see who we can or cannot re-sign going forward without attention to it, on that level I am definitely in favor of a trade. There is also a side benefit to not having a disgruntled player on the sidelines for a year. I think the trade was in the range of what teams were willing to offer, probably for the same reasons I just gave. I damn sure didn’t want to GIVE UP a one and two and Clowney. It’s only words now but I am learning the Seahawks biggest need was for an edge rusher and before the trade that organization and fans believed Martin was going to be that guy. Funny but we may have gotten the better edge rusher in this trade but let’s see. That why I just want the season to start. Then there is that little existing knee thing that won’t go away.
