Welcome to Houston Tyrann Mathieu

Letting Honey Badger get away was the worst mistake that's ever been made. We already knew he could play in our system. His replacement? It's like playing Russian roulette.
I find that funny considering that he was on a prove it contract with us because people thought he was done and didn't want him. From what I read Texans made a fair offer to good offer and made a real push to keep him. KC just made a better, some would same overpaid, offer and he took the money. No good guys or bad guys here just business. I would have liked to kept him but not at 14 million a year.

Better 14 million for Honey Badger than 9 million for Tashaun Gipson

Debatable, Gipson actually has slightly better stats than Mathieu.

Don't get me wrong I wanted Mathieu to but not at that price tag. He was good but he wasn't that good and he struggled against any TE with any talent at all. Gipson has his warts but he has done better against talented TEs.

Why are we worried about how much money a player makes, it’s not our money it’s ownerships. They need to do a better job sharing the pot than just hoarding the pot :stirpot:

By that line of thinking why do we care if the team even wins? We won't gets rings or get to hold the trophy, its not going to put more money in our pockets or help our day to day lives really. We care about the money because of the same reason we care about anything else on the team. The amount players make does affect the team, that's why there are salary caps so that its not just battle of the billionaires. If it was then all it would come down to is who is willing to buy the best team. Forget coaching them up, forget drafting just pick a couple of years and then sign every player that is even half way decent and let it be known that you will spend any amount.

There seems to be this theme lately that Cal is sitting on Kirby just counting his money like Scourge McDuck. They can't just throw money at every problem regardless of future issues, that's how teams end up in salary cap hell and that does take a full rebuild to get out of.

He's right. He got way overpaid though. The Chiefs are in a desperate mode to fix their defense and they paid a lot for him. Most players don't play better after a huge contract as well, so there's that. I liked him and wanted him back, but only at a fair price. I think that he underperforms on this contract.
Haha, ya think. Yea good call. Hes a year older and I can't see him performing above last year which wasn't spectacular so for 14m we did good to blink and walk away. Nice to have but not to be

I have a hard time seeing how he could even perform up to the level of that contract. He would have to be a prime Troy Polamalu to justify it, and I don't think he can ever be at that level

Yeah, I think 8 or 9 Mill is about as high as I'd go for him. Otherwise, he simply didn't show that he's worth more than that to me.

At first he wanted to stay here, now he's testing the market. Lol wow
Well duuuh... if your current employer wants to keep you but you hear that other companies are paying more than they offered for your skill-set, you'd be doing yourself (and your family) a big disservice if you didn't find out exactly how much more those other folks are willing to pay.

To me he’s never been a good cover guy.

I always viewed him as an nfl safety and not a corner. And I think he needs a specific niche. But I think he can be, and has previously shown to be, highly effective when he’s in his comfort zone.

I would’ve brought him back. If not him I would’ve definitely brought Kareem back as a full time safety only.

Mathieu is showing his true colors on twitter tonight. So self absorbed and searching his name and attacking anyone who questions him or his motivations. Petty, petty man

I think a lot of guys do this. Kevin Durant got busted for creating a fake account that he'd have arguments with nobody schmucks that criticized him. Stayed logged into the ghost account and accidentally posted something that was supposed to go on his own. Kind of funny actually.

What I wanna know is why Kansas City has a better chance to win than we do when we've been building for 5 years now.

What's going wrong?

Weirdest thing that he said was that last year in the locker room the Texans (internally) didn’t want any part of the chiefs in the playoffs.

That’s just weird on a few levels.

Not sure if I believe that or not or what to make of it.

Who was the Mahomes/Hill/Hunt/Kelce on the Texans offense last yr?
Watson/Hopkins/Miller/the Jordan's.

Watson hooked up with Hopkins for 1,572 yards and 11 TD.
Mahomes to Hill, 1,479 yards 12 TD.

Put Kelce on the Texans and he's too busy blocking to put up the All-Pro numbers he does in KC. And I keep being told the Jordan's are great picks.

And the Texans were 8th in rushing yards last season, Chiefs were 16th.

You really think the Texans skill position guys I listed are as good as the Chiefs?

Take another sip of the koolaid. That stuff must be tasting pretty righteous, almost like holy water on this Sunday morning.

Who can say when our offense never looked as creative as KCs.

...but given what we saw from Watson in 2017 don't you think he could have produced like Mahomes? Don't you think Fuller (and Coutee) have the breakaway speed that Hill has? Miller could be as productive as Hill if we didn't send him up the middle every other 1st & 10.

What do you think Andy Reid would do with Watson/Hopkins/Fuller/Coutee/Miller?

I think he would mix in a quick slant and a rolling pocket. 3rd and 13 would throw the ball 15 yds downfield.

Dont bring up they lost Hunt and never lost a beat on O.

What would he do with our TEs

Dang it I'm down the rabbit hole....

Fuller and Coutee were hurt most of the yr. Did they even play together last yr? Miller = Hunt? LOL

Kelce = Griffin/Jordan's LMAO

Not trying to win a battle. If dude thinks everything is black and white, that his problem. If he thinks talent is the end all be all, he'd better put some money down on the Browns winning it all. I mean, he's already claimed that that's the franchise that does it right.

Where did I claim that?

Dont put words in my mouth.

Just look at all of the Teams, excluding the Pats look at how successful teams are currently doing business and then ask yourself if the Texans are doing those things? There's alot of arrogance in the Texans org, like the post Z-Shawn said.

Just accept it for what it is and learn to laugh at the Texans org lead by Cletus.

Oh, it's around.

But it's bad enough navigating through the 75 posts a day you make, EVERY DAY, as is. I'm damn sure not going to purposely wade through them a second time looking for some useless crap you spewed somewhere.

You wont find that post.

The Browns are building something it's going to take them a couple of yrs.

And Hunt is suspended for 8 games.... minimum.
The point you're dodging is we have players with similar skillsets as those KC guys you named. But we aren't using them as creatively as Andy Reid.

I also see you didn't answer my "what would Reid do with our talent" question. :D

He will be ready for the playoffs, I like the Browns mindset of adding the best players possible. Do I think they're going to win a SB next yr? Nope but they're getting there.

The Texans have players with similar skillsets this is true. But the Texans guys cant stay healthy and aren't as good.

Since they cant stay healthy we dont know what BOB can do with them, so how are we supposed to know what Reid would do? But BOB seems to b finding ways to use Hopkins and no BOB isn't as good as Reid when it comes to scheming. But it's kind of hard to scheme behind this OL.
