I have a source that says that Easterby is fully aware and in lockstep with Belichick finishing up his run in NE this season and looking to join back up with The Padre and make Houston officially Pats South.

I'm thinking it's pretty out there, but my dude has literally never been wrong.

He also said Cal is a HUGE fan of beenie weenies.. c'mon, doubt him, I dare ya..

Cal should come out tomorrow fire Easterby and rehire Palcik. I wonder if JJ Watt would consider being defensive coordinator in 2021? We could use cap space and he could still be face of the team. Maybe his mom should call Mrs. McNair...invite her over for some HEB ice cream.

Man I just want to watch football. I don't care about politics in my sports. If she was doing something on the clock or while wearing Texans uniform might be different. I don't follow tweeter so don't know what she twitted.

I never thought I would say this but I'm in total agreement with The Matrix. Strip the entire org to the bones and build it back up from scratch with the new regime. This includes Palcic and the janitors at NRG.

Oh man, Belichick in Houston? Wow! I'm going to have to think on that one; but I did post a scenario of Tom Brady coming to Houston last off season. So..Easterby, Caserio and Beli? Tom Brady OC in 2022 or are he and Belichek apart forever?

I don't personally care about the Texans PR director position. I've never even heard of the woman before yesterday.

However, that stuff aside, my overall impression is the optics of it all and how the national media (and potential HCs and GMs) perceive the Texans as an organization.

The national reaction is what it is.

I would assume that this kind of stuff simply narrows down the prospective lists of potential hires.

But, then again, there are only 32 HC & GM positions each in the NFL, so maybe guys overlook this other stuff for their shot at glory. Time will tell.

I just dont get why people care what the media thinks. After what the media did to Luhnow F the media and I hope more people continue to give the snowflakes in the media h*ll

for me, people should treat people respectfully. She can be terminated for any reason but should not have been for "culture".

Probably 99.9% of the people here. Other than being shocked at the National reaction to this, the timing of it is the thing that’s a little off to me. This is something that couldn’t have waited until after the season? Doing it now makes it seem like something happened, stealing, racial slur, things of that nature, that action had to be taken immediately.

Heard on the radio today that she’s lawyering up. So there appears to be more to the story.

And no, it’s not “normally” something that would effect football, so who cares as far as that’s concerned, unless like DB said, it makes a good GM wonder what’s going on around here and he stays away. Probably a small probability, but still.

In Texas she can be terminated for any reason. Texas is a right to work state. The media wasn't fair to the Stros and if it was me I would give them as little as possible because of this. Respect should be earned not given.

I said she could be terminated. She earned respect the seven years she was here. Did you read what she did for Watt's hurricane program? He lent his name and did tv promos but she ran it. Astros cheated extensively to win world series. Why should their be any comparison of the two?

For me it’s not about the media. It’s that this is an Easterby firing that makes it concerning. There is more to the story when this lady has been more successful at her job than the Texans football team has been and she was fired.

The media creates a perception. For a lot of folks, that molded perception becomes their reality. And for corporations, especially entertainment companies subject to the whims of a fickle public, perception is extremely important. We both know that means a LOT to these owners. It always has since 2001 when the franchise was created.

While I do not follow much 'legacy media' these days for various reasons, there is certainly the potential for anyone that's qualified for the GM & HC jobs being swayed by that same media's narratives about this organization.

I don't know how it plays out, but, at this point, their FO drama is more entertaining than their product on the field. It's sad, but true.
 
Texans manage to make everything they do appear dysfunctional. Something changed the moment Bob McNair made that inmates comment, it was the first time the owners made a real public facing PR mistake. Since McNair’s death it seems to go from bad to worse, whether it be timing their decisions at completely the wrong time in the case of firing Gaine and going after Caserio, they then promote O’Brien to GM before firing him 4 games later(!).

The worry is that both Cal and Easterby have been getting panned in the press for these eff ups, and now to fire the person who deals with PR appears petulant at best.

I do wonder, with the talk about trust, a few tid bits have been getting leaked of late, perhaps they are pinning these on her?

No mention of they’d like to not lose, oh no, because where would the challenge be then? No, we’re going to be crap on the field and still sell out games. Not like those stinking Oilers who sucked on field and led the league in blackouts. We’re going to suck and sell out.

He basically said, the on field success does not impact their business and to prove it, regardless of their record, the Texans have a 30000 waiting list. Just wow.

This explains how a guy who has worked for a mediocre team that hasn't accomplished anything can write a book titled:

I guess to be fair, he never mentions winning Super Bowls. It's about the value of the business.

Pro sports has been genius at marketing, especially tying a citizen's vibe about their city to their sports team. God forbid if a big city doesn't have one! :eek:

That’s because a scheme was invented called Personal Seat License, where the tickets are practically guaranteed to be sold, or the PSL holder loses that investment. It also pretty much guarantees that very few season tickets are available each year, which is why there’s a waiting list. So save the big success story unless basically holding people hostage to buy tickets and deceiving people into thinking you’re in demand, and then bragging about it, is business 101 these days.

Oh, and that’s also why you have a bajillion sellouts in row. I’ve seen that building 30-40% empty on numerous occasions throughout the 17 years I was there. And lately, opposing teams fans fill it up like it’s their 2nd home. The Christmas Day game against Pittsburgh should have been an embarrassment. I know I was. But Steeler fans buy beer and hotdogs too, and it appears that’s all they really care about. Especially when they don’t have to worry about selling tickets.

After 17 seasons I gave up my tickets because of the direction they were going because of what I thought was Bill O’Brien. It’s turning out looking like he was the least of the wackiness going on in that building, and I have ZERO desire to ever buy back in. At least as long as a McNair owns them.

I cut all ties with the Oilers after Buffalo. I like to think it was a premonition of what was to come, but I was done with them. I never thought I could get there again with another team, but man, they are making it very hard to be a fan of this team. And now some of it doesn’t even have to do with football.
