Houston traded up from 58 and took Ersery at 48... NE had the 38th pick
Within reason, as long as Caserio got his guys where he did, then it's not an overpay.

But that’s only if we believe it’s for Ersery which is just people blowing smoke. We’ll never truly know who it was for but my personal belief is that they wanted to get Henderson who the Patriots used that pick on anyway.

I saw Stoots suggest that, but I don't really buy that Caserio would get a RB that high in the 2nd, let alone trade that many picks to do so.
It also doesn't make sense that you try to make a trade for a player to the team that drafted him.

If you believe Jonathan Alexander, it was Ersery. When either JA or AW report something you can take it to the bank.

Understandable but I still don’t know if his report is from Caserios mouth or just from his own supposition. I understand Alexander isn’t a BS artist but it’s also the downtime of the season where people’s ideas and supposition get played through the telephone game as if they’re hard honest truths.
It does make sense if the team that you offered a treasure trove to decides to turn it down and select said player.
I also would not at all be surprised if we took a RB specifically with Henderson’s skillset that high in the second when Nick then took the dollar store option later by giving up a solid draft capital haul to do so.

Think that statement that needs some rewording. Not sure where you're going there.
IMO it makes more sense building an Oline, rather than throwing another running back at the problem, particularly because Mixon has 2 years left.

My statement is looking at it from the Patriots’ perspective. They turned down a massive haul because it was for the player that they themselves coveted.
I agree in theory you build the offensive line but from the Texans’ own mouths they believe this line is much better than everyone else does. I think they’re bad at self scouting it but that seems to be their own personal belief on the matter.
Also we all believed it was the interior that needed addressing and they didn’t whatsoever.
I still fully believe that RB was (and is) a need and one that they were looking to address in a very deep RB class.

Pre-draft I thought WR was highest priority need (x2) then OL preferably a LT who could play LG a year then replace Robinson. Next priority was a cornerback and then a RB.
Also, I wanted Nick to trade out of 25 if Conerly wasn't the guy and pick up another round two with either the Jets or the Giants and my preference was the Giants as I expected Sanders to go to the Jets top of round two.
I like Ersery but did not think Nick would go that way as he is a pure left tackle and we needed to resolve left guard. I also said quite early that Nick would keep Howard at left tackle and probably Scruggs at Right Guard.
I think Nick saw the value of Ersery replacing Tunsil and winning fans of our former blind side much less expensively with fewer false starts.
I think we are set at center with Patterson but our OGs and their backups do not thrill me.

So, most felt Ersery would go in the area the Texans drafted him

Sorry, AW = Aaron Wilson. Alexander and Wilson are completely plugged in with the Texans. If they speak it, you can trust its true. They dont BS or speculate with these types of items. Its either first-hand or corroborated close second hand sourced info. If they do speculate - its presented as such. If its presented as fact..its sourced fact.

I know who Aaron Wilson is. My old brain couldn't go through the rolodex of Texans writers names. I knew JA was Jason Alexander because his name was listed a few posts earlier.
There are so many sites that comment on the Texans. Which I like. But it's difficult for me to keep them straight or know whom is trustworthy. You know Alexander and Wilson have access and are repotting what they are being told. There are probably others, I just don't know their names.

My serious life is a joke. Mathematics of any type has always been difficult for me. My mother finally threw away the multiplication flashcards as they were hopeless. Anyone remember the Elvis Presley movie Follow That Dream? I did pretty good till I got up to my nines times nines.

I know some people have already weighed in, but put me in the "this may not be true" camp. I've heard the arguments and the reasons why people think this is good intel, but there are equally good reasons that the organization would lie about this. I think the biggest reason would to embolden Ersery and make him feel like "they wanted me all along" instead of just taking BPA. How do you think that would make a pick like Ersery (who's from KC, family roots for KC and got passed over by the Chiefs) feel or think about the organization if the Texans said "Yeah...we wanted Henderson, but we settled for Ersery."
I think from an internal and external PR standpoint, they had to say this publicly.

2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
Again, C- Patterson, RG- Scruggs, and RT- Fisher had a nice transition to OL positions they were not projected to be playing in the 2024 camp’s.
They have cut their teeth in these positions at different times last season, but the time they were all starting against the Titans in WK18….Pierce had his career day primarily getting his yardage behind Patterson, Scruggs, and Fisher.
I’m looking forward to these guys coming into this years camp already assigned to these positions.
I’m beginning to feel like Ersery will replace Robinson at LT sooner than later…especially if he holds up well in camp against the likes of Hunter, Anderson, and Barrett. Best barometer in the world in my book.
I’m really looking forward to the battle for the starting LG job. Howard is not and never will be the answer at any position along the Texans OL. There’s just too much veteran talent in camp to not find an answer at LG.
Camp can’t get here soon enough to finally get this OL sorted out b/c bottom line….it’s going to be the determining factor in he overall success of the Texans this season and going forward.

Nobody really knows short of the FO, but they did trade up to get him. So it's certainly not sitting still and taking BPA.
At the end of the day, they traded their left tackle and signed a Vet on a 1 year deal. So there clearly is a team need at LT. And again, they traded up to get him so clearly he was targeted.
Also remember we only know of the two attempts. It's very likely there were more failed trade offers in the 10 picks between where we know they tried to trade up and when they successfully did and selected him.
