H'mmm I dunno ? Yea you might be right, but it's close between those two.
Not all that close to be honest. AR5 can Farve that ball into oblivion. He’s done it against us four times (I think).
Watching CJ make Super Man plays once flushed from the pocket is reminiscent of watching John Elway work his magic. Having spent my childhood in Colorado Springs, Colorado I grew up a Broncos fan so that is where I draw my comparisons from. I love watching CJ and his receivers make plays and it seems like Slowik should move CJ more. Perhaps I am wrong but it just seems that way to me.
i don’t think CJ -wants- to move. He looked so comfortable in the pocket last year. Reminded me of Brady but with a big arm.

All I know is CJ makes big plays out of the traditional pocket but he shouldn't have to consistently do so when that is not the plan. There are ways to deal with an o-line that consistently allows a lot of pressure. Slowik doesn't do those things. I have seen where Slowik calls the right plays only to follow them up with plays that routinely don't work. Until this team gets better play from the o-line it would make more sense for Slowik to make adjustments that lessen the problem. There is no way our Texans beat the likes of the Lions, Cowboys ,Dolphins, Chiefs or Ravens. Hell even a struggling Jets team could beat us. I know we beat the Bills but that was early in the season. The teams I mentioned will be too rough to consistently beat without the necessary adjustments. I won't argue with you that CJ can pass well in the pocket but he has a penchant for delivering passes to tight places when flushed from the pocket and receivers who can adjust and catch those passes. If Slowik wants to start games with CJ in the traditional pocket I have no problem with that but if the offense struggles I just think it would be best if he had plans to make in game adjustments. To me Slowik can counter a weak o-line and should.

CJ has publicly stated that he would prefer to pass from the pocket but has the mobility to make plays off-schedule. He's much more mobile than Brady ever was, and he can be deadly accurate when throwing on the move. AR5 is full auto all the time. The walking definition of spray & pray when throwing the football. Steichen is trying too hard to make AR5 a pocket passer and not scheming up to his strengths. If he doesn't change, it'll cost him his job.

Slowik is an irritating mix of trying to get too cute and calling the same plays, game after game, even when they didn't work 1-3 weeks ago. His tendencies with the WR screen (reminiscent of Kubiak) and WR sweeps are so obvious that fans are calling them before the snap. The running game is extremely predictable. God bless Joe Mixon. That dude brings it. YAC has to be crazy for him.
The Texans, as they are today, have no chance against the elite teams in the league. I don't consider the Cowboys or Dolphins elite. I haven't paid enough attention to the Ravens D to give an opinion. The Chiefs D will murderize the Texans O. The Texans D would likely return the favor with Mahomes. The Lions will obliterate the Texans. They are the NFLs most complete team. The Jets game will likely be a body bag count is as high as the score kind of game. 2 beat up teams on a short week and on a field known for injuring players. The team with the most starters left standing will likely win.

If Anthony Richardson had a clean pocket, perhaps he's leading the Indianapolis Colts to an improbable comeback at NRG Stadium on Sunday. If Richardson evades ...
There were a couple missed big passes and a few big plays that took place but I would say overall our secondary was solid. Yes AR5 has his weaknesses that benefitted us but when we have played other teams our secondary did well. The main thing in regards to our secondary is giving up too many big plays. Of course we have also benefitted from big pass plays by the other teams that never took place due to poor passes and drops. Every team has benefitted from that but it seems our Texans have done so more than other teams. We can't expect that to bail us out each week.

We just saw the Browns beat the Ravens.

The Cardinals just beat the Dolphins.

The Jets just lost to the Patriots.

Have people forgot about the saying “Any Given Sunday”?

Oh wait - people like to wallow in disappointment and disbelief. It is better for people to think the Texans can’t beat anyone.
Reasons that I don't bet on football: Any given Sunday and I'm a homer. I can't morally justify picking against my team. I don't want to make money off of the team I support losing. Dirty money to me. It helps that my addictions don't include gambling.

It’s so hard to beat the house on the NFL. I lived in El Cajon CA. in the early 90s and every Sunday morning we would cross the border and go to the Caliente sportsbook, never won one a damn thing on a parlay. I NEARLY won $400 on a half at the Super Bowl but stupid Leon Lett and Don Beebe screwed me!

The Dolphins and Cowboys have a lot to work on but we WON'T beat them if things don't change. The Ravens are better than those teams so it stands to reasons they would beat us as well. I agree with you about Slowik for the most part. However from what I have seen, when plays seem to be effective he doesn't stick with them. I will just agree to disagree as to his play calling. He has had effective plays but he inconsistently calls them.

I remember watching that when it first come out and loving his attitude. I have always been a little guy and the underdog. My thing is you do what you got to do but then don't complain when I do what I got to do. I remember getting a call from a self-described motorcycle gang member telling me what he was going to do to me. I said well Interstate 10 goes from Florida where you're at to within 30 minutes of where I'm at. what time are you planning on being here and I'll greet you. He replied you think you're tough? I responded no if I was tough you would not be threatening me. Never heard from him again.

Are y’all trolling me?

The Ravens just lost to the Browns and we are saying that without a doubt they will beat the Texans?

I've worked in the area a few times. It's beautiful. Betting odds are just to get suckers to lose money in major sports leagues. Prop bets are even worse.

Upsets happen but what makes the best teams the best is they more often than not win the games they are supposed to win and among those teams they many times dominate. I and many others are thrilled we are 6-2 given the injuries but that doesn't mean we can't have questions or find faults. This season has been one of parity. Nobody in my opinion has stepped up to be seen as a Super Bowl favorite. The Chiefs might be seen that way based on being undefeated and being back to back champions but they have been pushed by most of the teams they have beaten. The Lions are close at this point. At least in my opinion. There is plenty of time in the season so our team could step up and become a Super Bowl favorite. Last season our team seemed to get better as it went along. I think this season will be much the same. Anyway, hopefully Slowik gets back to being the offensive coordinator he was most of last season. Also lets hope our O-line improves immensely and everybody stays healthy! If that happens we could have a real shot at winning a title. Go Texans!

Good to great Qb's have bad games. CJ is a top Qb and I have no concerns about him. When I say we could lose a fair share of games down the stretch I must emphasize the word could. Lets see how a mostly to fully healthy Texans team does. We improved as the season went on last season and we have a better team this season so with a soon to be healthy team I believe we can win a championship! I just know for that to a happen we need help and steady improvement! Go Texans!

I never meant to take the stance that without a doubt we would lose to the teams I mentioned but the Ravens have been among the best teams for a long time through many players coming and going and an off game against a bad Browns team doesn't negate that fact. The Ravens WILL be a dangerous team as the season goes on. I expect our Texans will also be dangerous if they are healthy. The Texans of Sunday afternoon must be better more often than not! If not they could wind up like the Jaguars of last season.

I know but pairing Tunsil with Howard was an absolute disaster no matter who the starting five was. They are two alphas. Don’t laugh at my ignorance. I’m trying… but… maybe we could try Howard at RG or even -center- if need be! Just don’t put him next to Tunsil. It’ll never work.
I agree with everything you say here but just not sure that I see Howard as an alpha.

I’d really like to see how Tunsil, Scruggs, Patterson, Mason, Fisher would do as a unit. I’d also like to get a good look at Broeker playing RG.
I know that Patterson can play center and started six in 2023. I am not so sure of Scruggs at that position. However, I don't necessarily feel comfortable with juice at left guard.

Let me try to clarify what I meant by alpha. Howard is a tackle. I see tackles as alphas. I don’t like the idea of trying to place a tackle onto another tackle because tackles are the ones who step in to help the guards while fending off DEs. I’m not talking about swing tackles either. Just straight up tackles. That’s Tunsil and Howard.

Hope I clarified?

Better throws would've made a difference in all of those plays. Should some of them been caught? Sure, but better ball placement would've been the difference. It's a game of inches. That's much smaller than a game of thrones.
All I saw in the video was "1 whole minute" of PBUs, and 2 drops.. DBs get paid to make plays too and they made a ton Sunday.
