Week 6 Gameday Thread: New England, not your father's Patriots

Maye doesn’t stand a chance. Demeco single high safety, coverage 1 and 2 can be frustrating for opposing QBs. More complex than it sounds

A.R fluke game - 47%, 212yds, 2tds 1int
Caleb - 174yds, 2 ints
Darnold - 181yds, 4tds (more so coaching)
Trevor - 169yds, 2tds
Josh - 9/30, 131 yds, 1 td, 1 concussion

Notice the trend here. Besides week 1, more of a preseason game, opposing qbs have struggled to touch 200 yds in a pass friendly league. It helps having good lock down corners and a great D line who pressures the qb into throwing a bad ball incase a receiver gets separation. This defense will continue to get better. I still believe we will finish between 5-8 in total defense

Stats don’t tell the entire story. How many times have poor accuracy QB’s missed wide open guys on deeper routes. Hit a few of those and the stats change. If they can tighten things up on those deeper routes…then I’ll agree.

For example does he have any mobility or is he primarily a pocket-passer ?

4.0 ypc last year on 112 carries
Maye is a very effective runner. Remember, the college rushing stats include sacks. So Maye's rushing avg. would be higher if only runs and scrambles were included.

The Patriots will try to establish the run early. And while RPOs haven't been used much with Brissett at QB, don't be surprised to see more RPOs with Maye.

Wondering if Rhamondre Stevenson will be out? Back to back DNPs this week. He is their best offensive weapon.

I'm a little worried about Lassiter being out this week. There's not much CB depth on the roster. Adding a vet CB should be something Caserio really looks at when the trade deadline rolls around.

Assuming we don't repetitively shoot ourselves in the foot, the Patriots game should be a get healthy week. I'm really hoping the run game takes off, and we cruise into an easy victory...therefor I'm predicting us winning by 1 point. :pop:

"College rushing stats include sacks" ?
Meaning that's negative yardage which is netted out or a reduction of his positve rushing yardage ?

Youre correct. Let’s not forget our defense on half of those throws caused enough pressure to make the qb hurry. Also some of the missed throws are due to other factors such as, receivers changing routes midplay or disguised coverages where the qb see’s the potential td at the very last second and also generating enough pressure in the game that makes the qb shaky and nervous to where he misses throws because he doesn’t want to take another hit which happen to Josh Allen the past game

Very true. Pats have a bottom 5 receiver core and are a run 1st team. If there’s a game where Lassiter can miss, it’s this one. Also Jimmi Ward should consider retirement after this season. I get he’s your boy Demeco and you were once a football player so you want to look out for him, but he just doesn’t produce at a high level

Yes. For instance, CJ Stroud has 32 attempts for -20 yards in his RS Freshman season. That's a -0.6 yds/carry. Because sack losses are included.

Actually I find that interesting because if I'm not mistaken all losses, negative yardarge,
by any other ballcarriers (non-QB) are taken againt their total yardage from positve rushing plays. The college rules would seem to be atleast more consistent than the NFL rules.

In the NFL, yardage lost due to sacks is subtracted from a team's passing yardage. But not the passers yardage.

Much ado about nothing. Maye could barely take the snap and get from under center with the ball in preseason. He’s only starting b/c Mayo can’t look the other 50 or so players in the eye and say with a straight face that they can win games with Brissett. So they are “try this and see if it gives us a spark mode” b/c Maye is going to be apart of their future. After this game they will come to the same conclusion that they had when they decided to sit him in the 1st place in that….he is not ready.

Expect another hand wringing experience, full of multiple WTF's and pissed off and complaining posts. Kinky Carebear kicks another game winning field goal in the last two ******* seconds of the game after another horrible 2nd half by the Texans.

It'll happen.

They extended Ward during TC.

Their OL is terrible. I hope the young man doesn't get killed. WA/Hunter are going to eat.

This has the smell of a trap game.
New England Foxboro one big trap house. Texas get caught. I’ve got the Pats in this game. Too many injuries and the Texans haven’t played consistent in any game this year. Not creating turnovers, shoddy interior defense line, dumb mistakes and other than Carebear the special teams has been suspect. I think the reason the Texans are #4 in power rankings is because of how good the Bills had been playing before the Ravens.

Just the way I see it. They will get it rolling when they get healthy and when that happens the backup players will have some good experience behind them.

Immense hatred for the Patriots. The whole "you can only hate a team if they're good!" thing is complete meme cliche dumb sports BS.

Mixon coming back. Maybe we'll have a run game. No Nico or Kamari sucks.

**** em up. Want to look good doing it too. Let's keep shoring up the problem points.

Hopefully you're wrong.

I believe this team is different.

Why post this? Every player in this game is out of the league. On the other hand, it reminded me of players that I'd forgotten about.

Nuk’s rookie year and he’s still playing. I choose to look at Houston sports as a whole when I think of certain years b/c it keeps it mostly positive. Yeah the Texans were closing out tge Kubiak years and about to enter the doldrums of the BoB years in 2013…but on the bright side the Astros were just about to start their sustained playoff run of 8 ALCS’s and dominance of the Yankees in the postseason around this time too..which would certainly be a welcomed distraction from the Mallet/Hoyer/Fitzpatrick qb competition 🙂.
