Week 5 Gameday Thread: Buffalo the Bills

This is what happens when you hire players with an injury history. I'm surprised Akers is still standing.

Mixon's injury history.

View attachment 14628

I think this is a bit unfair in this case. Anyone would have been injured on that play. Illegal hip drop tackle and twisted his ankle under his body. I think this is way different than a guy like Will Fuller who couldn’t run a 40 without tearing a hamstring. I’m not worried long term. Let it completely heal imo. Might miss next week too…better safe than sorry.

When everybody is cheating, it is still cheating. For me it comes down to a morals issue.

Eh. Nah. If everybody is doing it, it's a level playing field. A level playing field? Not cheating. Cheating is an unfair advantage, which if everyone is doing it, it's not an advantage anymore.

Matter of fact, if everyone is doing something to help themselves, and you don't... That is indeed cheating. Cheating yourselves out of something

If you want to talk about cheating go to the Astros thread. They made my T-shirts worthless and I don’t even give them a glance anymore
I made my point of view known in the Astros thread long time ago. One of the reasons I stopped watching them.

No. Cheating is doing something against the rules trying to get away with it. I don't know how any of you can say it's okay if everyone else is doing it. Not going to change my mind so I will move on.

Bills will be short handed on defense. Von Miller also out due to suspension.

Especially if LB Bernard and nickel Johnson are still out.

This bodes well for Houston getting the running game going!

I’d try the Colts week 1 gameplan even with Mixon out. Maybe they can feature a bruiser like Brooks and see if he can get hot against this light and short handed defensive front?

Texans a bit short handed as well. Both backup DEs ruled out. I wonder if they bump up Horton after one week practice? Or Solomon Byrd gets elevated from the PS? Or a combination?

Mario Edwards also has the versatility to play some DE snaps if needed. Maybe if Hinish gets elevated they’ll push Edwards outside more in this game?

Either way, expect a lot of snaps for our stud DEs.

Let's win this game for Diggs!!!!

“We know it’s a big game for Stef,” Collins said. “We know what we gotta do, we gotta go out here and win for Stef. I’m happy for my dog. I’m happy that he’s part of the Texans, but know this game means a lot to him. I feel like it’s only right for us to go out there, have fun and get this win for him.”

I know that and recognized that long ago. I also have noted you don’t post on the Assholes thread anymore. I like your conviction. They are trash to me for years.

Lol ok, Captain America. A suggestion to change your username from "Badboy" perhaps?

The Bills have a well-coached defense. But they are running out of game wreckers. They’ve been playing without their top 2 LBs. Now they will be without their top two pass rushers in Ed Oliver and Von Miller.

Not to mention their nickel back is likely still out and now they will be down a starting safety.

On the DL, Rousseau is the only consistent starter that will be out there Sunday. Bernard may be back, but he’s a game time decision at LB.

Credit to Mcdermott for still fielding a dominant defense with the hand he’s been dealt but we saw them revert back to the mean against the Ravens. Time to let the flood gates open up and expose their weaknesses. They should not have the talent remaining on that defense to keep up with CJ and company. Slowik will need to remind people why he’s in the head coach conversation after this season. Because so far, this offense has not lived up to the hype outside of Nico.

Speaking of Nico, I just don’t see what they can cook up to slow him down. The big ticket pass rushers being out should buy CJ enough time to find him. And if he doesn’t, Diggs will be waiting with revenge on his mind :)

Nico is the best WR in the NFL

Meh, I'm all for morals, standards and having character.

But IF the rules of the game are broken by "everyone" and the rules aren't being enforced... then the rules are more "suggestions" than rules.

By which to follow those "suggestions" limits yourself.

"Two wrongs don't make a right." But if the law of the land is to not enforce/selectively enforce those rules....the law of the land is anarchy and though "standing on principle and moral character" are great traits to have in life.

In a meaningless game where everyone is "bending the rules" to get that edge above.....its not cheating because "cheating" implies the will for a "fair" playing field.... which one can not have IF rules are not enforced equally across the board.

Which the NFL there IS an obvious bias... as such... the playing field is anything but level... its MetLife stadium and if you try to play as if its level you will end up on the IR.

I don't believe its as rigged as many, IF I did I wouldn't be able to watch even a moment of scripted football where my team is destined to never win.... even if they do... its scripted... wooo hoo.

But as with everything touched by man... it will ALWAYS suffer a bias when its as blatant as the NFL I can't pretend that "playing fair" is a concept that will do anything more than limit a teams ability to succeed.... because 31 other teams aren't limiting themselves.

IF its so awful... let the league handle the punishment to insure it never happens again... a slap on the wrist... almost assures it will.... and at greater numbers until that line of "cheating/bending the rules" is grey area due to lack of real enforcement.

End of the day, eventually everyone will forget that Brady liked empty balls and remember the rings.

IF the teams aren't out there Tanya Harding...ing eachother in the parking lots....... meh.

If anything, it's cheating yourself out of an advantage that others are using. But other than that, nah. Great post

All I have to say about the whole “rules are rules” thing… I hope that those who believe these players need to live and die by them… make sure y'all mail in a check every single time you exceed the speed limit.

As Bob Watson once hollered over the loudspeaker at the Astrodome… LET THEM PLAY!

How many times have we seen teams, Texans included, run rub plays. It’s essentially pass interference but if your not blatant with it, the refs let it go. It gets into gray area but to me there is a clear line.

Rub play - not cheating

Point shaving - cheating

Can we just get on to Rollerball and be done with these weak arse rules?
You go into this movie thinking it's just a dystopian bloodsport flick, and it turns out to be one of the best films made about global elites ruling via technocratic corporatism.

But the best part is the championship team is Houston.

The real controversy about the Astros is the scapegoating by an attack dog media to prevent inquiry into other teams. The Red Sox got busted, and there was no wall-to-wall negativity campaign for two months. No 637 articles by The Athletic calling them the worst cheaters in history. It's an ongoing lesson in how easy it is to manipulate masses of weak minds through propaganda, which is on display every time you hear them booing Altuve.

Physically, he's much better than Jefferson.

I love Nico! Big physical, fast!

He’s not as good as Jefferson on routes, hands, that innate ability to find the ball and be the one to catch it.

Jefferson is the best right now followed by Chase.

I could put Nico next, but there’s a pretty good receiver in Detroit and there’s a rookie in Phoenix thats quickly going to be in this conversation.

Bills inactives:
C Will Clapp
DT Austin Johnson
CB Taron Johnson
DT Ed Oliver
SS Taylor Rapp
WR Khalil Shakir
MLB Edefuan Ulofoshio

I expect Scruggs to be more handicapped than in the last game. His hip will more compromise his ability to work against resistance and will affect his mobility.

Did we forget Lamb?
