Nope, that there is an opinion, there aren't any guarantees vs. NFL-level defensive speed. Bush might have gotten more yds., but we'll never know.
I think Bush is the best player in this draft, but I still don't think we should get him. Trade down (gain picks) and fill MUCH more pressing needs.
Things like OL, TE, CB come to mind.
No that is a fact. A running back who is faster than Domanick Davis and who is running faster than Domanick Davis did in that situation causes his pursuers to alter their angles of pursuit. That is an undeniable fact. If they want to catch him they have o change their angle.
Now yes, whether or not he scored is up for debate because I don't know how fast the players who had a chance to tackle him are. I'm sorry, I got ahead of myself there and tacked an opinion on the end of a fact. I should have ended that post with "and
has a better chance of taking that same play to the end zone.
The first part and the meat of my post though, fact.
Look, I work with Elmo Wright. I spent a very long time talking with him in his office about Domanick Davis, and his speed, and what 40 times mean and, the relative advantages of speed versus quickness/elusiveness/agility whatever you want to call it, and why he's never going to be anything but a nice servicable back. I think Elmo knows what he's talking about.
Frankly anyone who thinks the RB position doesn't need to be upgraded gets very little respect from me. I just don't think they understand what they're looking at. Anyone who thinks that a top running back wouldn't make this line look better and contribute significantly to the amount of time David Carr has to throw gets very little respect from me. Again, I don't think they understand what they're looking at.
Domanick Davis is the Tim Smith (Houston Oilers, early 80's) of the Houston Texans.
