week 1 of 2024/2025 SEASON

@Deadpool

It’s called bitterness man.

On november 6 1995 the Browns left Cleveland and that was funny for a minute (hated all the old oiler division rivals, Steelers, bengals, browns)

Then on November 16 1995 the oilers said they are leaving Houston. Sucked.

Wouldn’t have been so bad except the crybabies in Cleveland were awarded an expansion team on feb 9 1996.

Houston on the other hand had to compete with LA for an expansion team (and the NFL really wanted a team in LA, only by the grace of the football gods and Bob McNair and the complete ineptitude of the LA group were we awarded a new team)

On oct 6 1999 Houston was finally awarded a new team. That’s a lot of festering years of frustration and hate building up over that time.

So yeah 28 years ago but a lot of reasons to hate the Browns of any color.

I dislike the Ravens because more often than not the Texans lose to them. Which is an excellent reason to dislike any team. :)

Sorry, but I can do without these out of the US games!!
??? Why does that matter?

I could never trust Hurts as my QB. There's a lot to like about him. Gutsy. Athletic. But his decision making is scary. Nearly throws a pick 6 and comes back throwing an INT in the end zone? No thank you.

I agree, I never saw him as an “elite QB” you could trust to win a Super Bowl even when they got there.

I think that unicorn season showed just how good of a coach Steichen was minimizing his weaknesses and not Hurts developing into that type of QB.

Did not look good.
Based on the video it looks like a clear cut ACL: knee injury. Saw this last night and realized how painful that would be if it was Stroud. All the offseason moves, hopes for the 2024 season, and boom there it goes with your QBs knee with no time left in the 4th quarter. 😭

ACL injury for Love?

When I look at the video, it looks more like classic high ankle, not an ACL.

If there is any knee ligament, it would be an MCL with the high ankle.
I'm definitely not an expert, but I thought over-extension to the inside of the knee (leg crumpling inwards) was an ACL, where as leg crumpling outwards was an MCL. Is it the opposite? (I said ACL based on the post.)

PS. I was hoping you'd come in and comment.

The buckling inward is consistent with an MCL.

With an ACL, the tibia shifts forward in relation to the femur (and then can shift back to normal position).

Hurts is certainly a gutsy, tough running back, and very much a team guy but IMO he's just a functional passer in comparison to many other NFL starting QBs which is why I'm still puzzled why the supposedly very astute Philly GM rewarded him with his contract
to make him the Eagles franchise QB ?

Wilson is questionable with an aggravation to his calf injury. Achilles tendon repair surgery can lead to calf muscle weakness and other long-term problems. Calf muscle endurance can be significantly impaired even a year after surgery. Calf muscle weakness can persist for up to seven years after surgery. All of the aforementioned make a calf tear an ongoing risk.

Russell Wilson (calf) makes the trip to Atlanta

Well, the Eagles owner loves Hurts. I year before Hurts got that huge deal, the Eagles GM was nosing around Watson. The Watson camp said no to that. I'm not sure if Josh Allen really has what it takes to go all the way, and Allen is so much more talented than Hurts.

Yep no doubt they love Hurts in Philly.
Speaking of Watson I'm really looking forward to watching him and Browns vs Dallas tomorrow after our game.
Another game I'd really like to see is Monday night of the NYJets vs San Fran but dunno if ESPN can settle their contact dispute
by then ? Any rumors about a possible resolution ?

Regarding Jordan Love:

Although the reports relate that he sustained an MCL, by video I am still convinced that he has also sustained a high ankle tear (a common injury combination).

I just noticed a recent tweet tonight by Dr. David Chao who is left with the same exact impression.:

Reports are that Love could return by week 5. How effectively mobile do you think he would be by that time?

Happy for Jim Harbaugh getting a win in his first game back in the NFL. The guy is just one helluva football coach. All he does is win. If Cap wasn't our HC, I'd want it to be Jim Harbaugh.

Sure the Jets defense is good. But most of that good is vs the pass. The Jets defense were 25th vs the run last year. Put a hat on a hat and you can move the ball against these guys.
