Watson cant play football

I still think if some team is willing to guarantee that much money thats on the team. Every player is a gamble, just like every fan that has season tickets gambles that their team will even be watchable if not the current season.. ones to come.
Fans may be willing to lose money year after year. But most all owners are in the "game" for making money, not losing it and most are not for giving fully guaranteed contracts to players. Answer me one question............................how many fully guaranteed player contracts have been given to players since Watson?

Oh, Im not saying Watson is w9rth it or that it SHOULD be a normal practice. Just that IF a team wants to and that brings "their guy" to the locker room they should be able to make that decision. Between owner and player... not league, player and owner.

Im just one that prefers when governing bodies govern the structure and framework of a system rather than try to micromanage every little aspect at every turn.

If someone, like the Browns owner or representative want to give fully guaranteed, its their risk, their money.... if it pays off or not shouldn't be the deciding factor on if it should be allowed or not.

Now. If there is a breach of contract then you can get into the weeds of who else should be involved, but as far as I know no breach has occurred its just an issue that DW has sucked and there is major buyers remorse.... it happens there shouldn't be a bailout cause the gamble didnt pay off.

I for one would NEVER guarantee 100% of a contract, but still feel if someone wants to... they should be able to do so.

Owners can't lose money because of the salary cap and revenue sharing. You have to be an exceptionally dumb billionaire to lose money as an NFL franchise owner. Things may change in the future, but for the foreseeable future, the NFL is a money printing machine

That may be, but owners don't like to gamble to that extent on losing money they theoretically have in hand.............especially when bad publicity follows the decision.

Of course. Only all of the TV revenue is shared equally, IIRC, and only a part of the ticket sales. Again, I may be wrong, but each franchise gets to keep their concession and gear sales. So, yeah, some make more than others.

What move….no one is trading for him. All Haslam and the Browns can do is cut him…that’s their only move. Spend 2 to 3 seasons licking their wounds for such an idiotic extension. It’ll be an ugly rebuild, but they really have no choice.

If I could borrow Haslam’s coned owners hat for a moment:

1. Cut Watson at seasons end or after June 1st. He should be good for keeping the Browns in the top 3 come draft day this season.
2. Spend the next couple of seasons sucking and loading the trenches with top talent.
3. 2026 or 2027, ensure the team is at the top of the board and draft QB, Manning (Texas).

Browns fans could probably forgive Haslam for the Watson signing.

Haslam will never admit his mistake. Which he will compound it by firing someone.

I'd put him on IR & bar him from the facilities.

I can't imagine why he won't. Do you think he'd get black-balled as a HC?

Surely he knows he's going back to the OC role before he gets another shot at HC.
Haslam is a criminal..............he would stop at nothing and go after Stefanski with everything he has............including arranging a black-ball
