Updated Roster (Post-Draft)

Maybe they keep 10 other than the 53 for practice squad. I have learned and still learning more here about that when reading these posts over the years and guess what I still get confused. Lots of knowledgeable posters here
I may have wrongly considered the PS as roster slots in coming up with 12, but that's no excuse, particularly since PS players have to be cut and clear waivers.

So, no shockers as of yet...

Wonder if we are taking in a new qb3 or opening the door for another special teamer.

- Marshall

And I'll add that I'm happy to see Nix cut. Dude was blown up constantly and Covington seems to have more consistency and drive. I'm excited about the Rice product. Looks like a good draft pick for us.

Worthy was on my 53. I'm a believer in having a quality return specialist and believe that Worthy was our best prospect for this duty. Anyone else who will be filling this role won't be "special".

After the reported moves the Texans have made, the roster should be at 63. That leaves 10 more moves to be made, cuts, IR, IR-DFR, trades...

My guess would be that 10 of these guys are involved:

INJURY: Savage, Slade, Ballentine

Dan Pettinato, Joseph Treadwell, Fili Moala, Tony Washington, Kendall Lamm, Keshawn Martin, Lynden Trail, Karlos Thompson, Kurtis Drummond, Chris Polk, Charles James, Jumal Rolle

Did that actually bother you?
Well yeah. Kind of makes O'Brien sound like an idiot. If we score a touchdown is he going to jump up and down shouting "HOME RUN!" and during the post game interview say "When we scored that Home Run in the last few minutes of the 4th inning, I knew we were going to win.

It's colloquial, man.

If you say so. More likely that he just misspoke because I have heard him say "Snap Count" any other time.

You've never heard a football coach refer to a deep threat at wr as a "home run hitter"? I've heard of some qb's refered to as the point guard of their offense, because they were asked to simply distribute more than take big chances. No one thought these people were actually talking about baseball or basketball. But sure, if you want to think that OB really did forget that he was talking about the sport of football for that instant, the sport his entire life revolves around, then ya, ok.

Texans for one RT @ConorOrr: Could get interesting if RB Terrance West isn’t cut: Browns have fielded offers on former 3rdrounder nfl.com/news/story/0ap…
Small school but this kid was awesome! I'm very interested in him. 5'10 225 171/673 @3.9 for Browns.

Towson college: 4.54 40 work; horse with load maybe wearing him down.

OVERVIEW
The Baltimore prep was a multi-sport athlete, participating in basketball, baseball and track in addition to football. Spent the 2010 season at Fork Union Military Academy (Virginia) after difficulty qualifying because of his SAT score. Burst onto the collegiate scene in 2011 by winning the Jerry Rice Award (top freshman in FCS) and ECAC Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushing 194 times for 1,294 yards (6.7-yard average) and an FCS-leading 29 touchdowns in 11 games (one start). Had five catches for 25 yards and did not play in the season opener against Morgan State. Led the Colonial Athletic Association in rushing yards per game (104.6) and scoring (90) in 2012 after logging 195 carries for 1,046 yards (5.4) and 14 TDs along with five catches for 102 yards and a TD in 10 games (six starts). Missed the Old Dominion game because of a death in the family. Set the NCAA FCS single-season rushing mark and led all of college football in 2013 with 413 carries for 2,519 yards (6.1) and 41 touchdowns and 26 catches for 258 yards and a TD in 16 games. Was the CAA Offensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the Walter Payton Award. Led the Tigers to the FCS Championship game and set the FCS record for touchdowns in a season with 42. Had 354 yards and five touchdowns against Eastern Illinois in the playoffs. His 84 career rushing touchdowns tied the FCS record, set by Adrian Peterson (Georgia Southern 1998-2001) in only three seasons.

I'd like to see us hold onto Washington. He's the only young OLB that consistently held the edge.

This is probably what they are looking for in the 4th OLB. I'm judging this by them going exclusively nickel in the 4th preseason game wanted to see who could set the edge consistently. To me this says they feel strongly that Clowney can come back and be the main pass rusher from the OLB spot so they were looking another direction for the last OLB spot

Yep, and I've heard the Middle Line Backer referred to as the QB of the Defense, but I think most folks understand he is not actually a quarterback playing defense. Most folks are capable of understanding both that, and the fact that often times when they are unfamiliar with something, it's incorrect to simply assume it's wrong.

Do you have the slightest clue as to how much that makes YOU sound like an idiot? There's no way you could possibly be that dense.

Texans waive CB Charles James.

Texans put G Chad Slade on IR

I hate waiving James, if we suck at covering punts I will be very irritated. I know he limits our corners because he isn't that good, but he was a beast covering punts. We really needed a playmaker on special teams. With his speed and shiftiness, I am not sure why we didn't try him returning kicks.

Charles James: 'Hopefully I can inspire and prove that underdogs can come out on top. I'm going to keep going and do my thing.'

That's different as those are analogies not colloquialisms. No, I don't think he forgot he was talking about football, but people do misspeak sometimes.

As I said to Mollywhopper. Analogies are different than colloquialisms.
