Riddle me this, Batman ...
Arguably, the biggest play of the the Kansas City game was when Coleman intercepted Trent Green's pass and returned it 102 yards for a touchdown.
Remember the down?
2nd down.
Did you wonder why Kansas City didn't run it in the endzone? Didn't Priest Holmes get a ton of rushing touchdowns last year? Weren't they right down near the endzone?
They were on the 2 yard line on 2nd down.
If they ran it in, then Coleman couldn't intercept it.
The answer lies on 1st down. 1st and goal at the 1 yard line.
Kansas City did try to run it in on 1st down. They ran to their left, behind Willie Roaf ...
But unsung (football) hero Junior Ioane stuffed Priest Holmes for a 1 yard loss.
If Junior (and teammates) had let Priest score, then Coleman wouldn't have had the pass on second down and the 14 point turn around.
Good job Junior. Chalk one up for the backup 'Uglies'.
