Unsung (football) hero

Riddle me this, Batman ...

Arguably, the biggest play of the the Kansas City game was when Coleman intercepted Trent Green's pass and returned it 102 yards for a touchdown.

Remember the down?

2nd down.

Did you wonder why Kansas City didn't run it in the endzone? Didn't Priest Holmes get a ton of rushing touchdowns last year? Weren't they right down near the endzone?

They were on the 2 yard line on 2nd down.

If they ran it in, then Coleman couldn't intercept it.

The answer lies on 1st down. 1st and goal at the 1 yard line.

Kansas City did try to run it in on 1st down. They ran to their left, behind Willie Roaf ...

But unsung (football) hero Junior Ioane stuffed Priest Holmes for a 1 yard loss.

If Junior (and teammates) had let Priest score, then Coleman wouldn't have had the pass on second down and the 14 point turn around.

Good job Junior. Chalk one up for the backup 'Uglies'.

Since no one seems interested in your somewhat weak attempt to stir the pot why don't "riddle me this"? Why is it ok to second guess play selection of K.C. but not draft selctions by the Texans?

But to answer your question. I'm sure the entire K.C. staff now wishes they had just turned and handed the ball to number 31! I feel they figured the Texans were really looking for the run so they figured they'd cross them up...I guess we can all be glad they did!

Yep, Junior Ioane was the only ray of sunshine on that slow developing DL of ours. I hope they can kick it up a couple of notches Sunday against Oakland. we're going to be needing everyone firing on all cylinders.

Ioane had a good game. Better than some of our higher paid D-Linemen.......

I am sure he would love to get some action against his former team when they go up against Oakland this Sunday.

Ioane might not have gotten all the attention from the media, but I'm sure he got plenty of love from his teamates on the sidelines and in the lockerroom. I even recall his name being mentioned on some of the threads after the game by several people (myself included). I agree that he was definately the star of the DLine against KC, but he's played well throughout the preseason and in the other regular season games. Hopefully he'll spark the rest of the guys on the DLine to play like him, and we'll be in good shape.
