No current player will be traded for significance as dead money is issue; not saying player such as Howard might not be cut post June to open up cap space for a huge free agent. Not much draft capital to trade with next year. One pick in every round except the 6th.
Who would you (current Texans player) package with one of those picks for a need?
I am okay with trading out of round 1 but it needs to bring significant players in return; a potential starter and another at depth at minimum. There are 2 scenarios that I’d look into:
1. I currently see 5-6 OL drafted in the 1st. If one of those guys were to drop, I could see us trading back for a team that wanted to move up.
Examples: NE or NYG 2nd + 3rd (depending on value)
2. If by some chance the NYJ are looking to gain more assets and are willing to trade Wilson, I’d totally consider trading our 1st. It’s a long shot, and I’m not sure the Jets would do it. But I’d at least listen to what they’re asking for him.
Tech glitch...Based on history, Nick has significantly traded up and down in all rounds. I don't see a player worthy of a significant trade up round one nor the capital to do so. I think he would love to trade out of round one as he did in 2024 draft. As of now, based on others sentiment and what I see realistically happening, I am basing this on losing 2 out last 4 games and that is very optimistic 10 & 7.
LV Raiders get: 1.24 [740] + 4.125 [47]
Texans select : 2.34 [560] + 3.71 [235]
Raiders 1.1 QB 1.24 WR Isaiah Bonds 3.65 CB Monsoor Delaney 4.102 RT Ajani Cornelius 4.125 WR Kyren Lacy
Houston 2.34 LG/LT Wyatt Milum 2.57 S Xavier Watts 3.71 DT/NT Alfred Collins 3.89 LT/IOL Charles Grant
AgreeI’d hate give up a 2026 1st or 2nd rounder. This team still needs big impact players. Gonna need another edge rusher that year. Gotta pay Will soon.
Would love a Kittle type TE….
If possible the best of both worlds would be for Howard and a 2nd be traded to move into the bottom of the 1st/top of the 2nd and come out of thid draft with Warren/Milum. Not a chance of this happening though. No current player will be traded for significance as dead money is issue; not saying player such as Howard might not be cut post June to open up cap space for a huge free agent.
The problem with trading Howard before June 1st, we eat over 19 million dollars in dead cap money. No thank you!If possible the best of both worlds would be for Howard and a 2nd be traded to move into the bottom of the 1st/top of the 2nd and come out of thid draft with Warren/Milum. If you wanted to go all in on next year and I wouldn't do this, but you could,I’d hate give up a 2026 1st or 2nd rounder. This team still needs big impact players. Gonna need another edge rusher that year. Gotta pay Will soon.

I’d love to have Tyler Warren from Pennie’s State.I’d hate give up a 2026 1st or 2nd rounder. This team still needs big impact players. Gonna need another edge rusher that year. Gotta pay Will soon.

The draftsperts overall think there are about 15 true first-round players in the draft from what I have been picking up.Looks like we are locked in at #19 unless we beat Pittsburgh. I'm not overly impressed with those available after that in round 1 for most mocks. I know most here will also disagree with that opinion. The sweet part of the draft in my opinion is round two and round three as it was last draft. I can see Nick doing his trade down again.
Debatable but I would not argue much over that number. The draftsperts overall think there are about 15 true first-round players in the draft from what I have been picking up.
Name a draft in the last 10 yrs when you didn't want to trade down?Looks like we are locked in at #19 unless we beat Pittsburgh. I agree that I usually want to trade out of the first round if there are comparable players available later or another position. The 2024 Texans draft is a perfect example of my philosophy. Part of our disagreement comes in the comparison of players value. You always push for a tight end that might be comparable to TEs on other teams. I understand that but it's just not my way of thinking and evidently not current management either. They had an opportunity in 2024 to draft tight end Sinnot in round one or with the trade pic instead of Lassiter in round two.Name a draft in the last 10 yrs when you didn't want to trade down?
If one of Nolen/HarmonWarren/Milum/Booker are there at 1-19 I'm picking them and not trading down. This isn't a deep draft so in the 2nd rd I would pick at 2-41 and depending on how the draft fell I might even trade back into the 2nd rd.
If say Warren is the pick at 1-19 and one of the guys I listed falls into the 2nd rd I wouldn't hesitate to move up towards the top of the 2nd if that meant drafting one of Booker/Milum.
Membou is an athletic freak at right tackle who could transition to Right Guard. I don't see him as a starter in 2025 but behind Blake Fisher it would be a good move. It is possible but not probable that he could start at Right Guard if we move Mason.Mizzouri OT/OG Armand Membou is another guy I like a lot. Moves very well, very violent.

They like Stover more than Sinnot.I agree that I usually want to trade out of the first round if there are comparable players available later or another position. Other than Milum and Booker, I agree that none of those will be there although Nolen is "sliding " on Tankathon.com. It would be hard not to select him at 19. Also I would take Milum at 19. I would be more open to Josh Conerly in round two plus another pick than Booker at 19. Not adamant about Booker but that would be my choice.
I agree on Conerly being only a pure left tackle but I think he will be a very good one and would love to see him starting next to Milam at left guard. They like Stover more than Sinnot.
Conerly isn't a guy that can play OG IMHO. I bet he ends up going late 1st. But it's too early to go by the mocks that are out there.
For those unaware of Josh Conerly:I agree on Conerly being only a pure left tackle but I think he will be a very good one and would love to see him starting next to Milam at left guard.
I'm not convinced that you didn't write this article, considering the unbalanced draft trades made.I'm impressed with the two trade down mock for Cleveland . Does not involve houston, but I included to show what possibly can be done.

Browns mock draft: Trade-down version creates huge influx of talent, developmental QB
If Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward aren’t graded high enough, a trade down could change the Browns roster, futurewww.dawgsbynature.com
Well thank you for the credit and compliment.I'm not convinced that you didn't write this article, considering the unbalanced draft trades made.
Howard and Mason will probably be post June 1st cuts.Denico Autry 3 sacks but 35 in July.
$9 million post June 1st cut.
Shaq Mason only 32 next season but mediocre this season. It is possible he could bring you a 7th round in some future year trade which will give you the exact same cap space of 9.5 million as a post June 1st cut.
NFL teams are allowed only two post June 1st designations but as I understand can have post June 1st trades. The difference is a trade does not allow you to spread dead money over 2 years as a cut does.
Tytus Howard's deal will probably bring some type of trade but not post June unless a team's starter goes down which is possible. If he is one of the two posts June cuts, his capsaving is 14.2 million dollars. After June 1st trade.. 16 m. This is a lot of cap space to go get a very good offensive guard.
Another in draft.
Personally I would go for both Will Fries and Trey Smith of Kansas City. Not only would they be instant starters with better ceiling but also would each take a formidable player away from our division and Conference opponents.
Targets and protection for Stroud have to be prime directives.
As long as they sign a couple of IOL, Blocking TE and re-sign Stingley then I will be happy. Then hopefully draft Fannin/Savion Williams type play makers in rds 1-2. The reason I like Fannin so much is I view him as a walking mismatch. He can be an OD type TE and a playmaker in the slot.Schultz trade brings $9 m and we could draft Fannin to replace him. He can't block either but he would be a better receiving tight end and much less expensive.
I wish I could be sure of that.Howard and Mason will probably be post June 1st cuts.
I would cut Faibarin and maybe cut Schultz.I wish I could be sure of that.
Just to clarify cap.. cuts bring minimal to no relief. Trades only way to get space.I would cut Faibarin and maybe cut Schultz.
I think if you cut Faibain you can save 3 mil and that's not as a June1st cut.Just to clarify cap.. cuts bring minimal to no relief. Trades only way to get space.
Cutting Fairbairn would create a large dead cap hit. His out is after 2025. We know he can kick, just have to understand what's going on in his head.I think if you cut Faibain you can save 3 mil and that's not as a June1st cut.
I could be wrong.
Schultz, I want his butt off of the team. I cant stand guys that get paid and dont put in the effort. I really dont care about the cap savings. I would try to trade him for a late rd pick.
Nope.. trade is only way for savings for FairbairnI think if you cut Faibain you can save 3 mil and that's not as a June1st cut.

I expect what we saw in the 2023 season. Coaching staff gave him a huge raise based on what he did last season and he Tanked it this season.Cutting Fairbairn would create a large dead cap hit. His out is after 2025. We know he can kick, just have to understand what's going on in his head.
Schultz is what he is. I don't think he's ever been a good blocker, not with Dallas and not even before he got his recent extension. He's a stationary target with pretty reliable hands. Asking him to be what he's not is not his fault. I think us fans want more from the position, but maybe the coaching staff is ok with what he brings and the potential risks.
I'm thinking Fairbarin isn't a playoff pressure kicker. Paricularly when it's in the cold. Look at his game against the Ravens last yr in the playoffs.Cutting Fairbairn would create a large dead cap hit. His out is after 2025. I'd agree he's inconsistent in the cold during the playoffs.I'm thinking Fairbarin isn't a playoff pressure kicker. Paricularly when it's in the cold. Look at his game against the Ravens last yr in the playoffs.
Why would you cut Fairbairn? Yes he had a bad game but overall he has been pretty solid.I would cut Faibarin and maybe cut Schultz.
He's been very avg during the second half of the season. Why would you cut Fairbairn? Yes he had a bad game but overall he has been pretty solid.
Justin Tucker was downright horrid this season but you wouldn't think of cutting himHe's been very avg during the second half of the season.
The Texans need homefield advantage, just like every other team.I'm thinking Fairbarin isn't a playoff pressure kicker. Paricularly when it's in the cold.
He made all of his kicks in January. If Kaimi can’t kick outdoors in the playoffs it doesn’t matter if he’s the best kicker in the league in September.Justin Tucker was downright horrid this season but you wouldn't think of cutting him
No you wouldn't because he kicks well in the playoffs and I would be willing to bet on a bounce back season from one of the GOAT's at his position. Look at Fairbarin's playoff track record and tell me if you've got confidence in him making a GW FG in a SB, or pull a Norwood?Justin Tucker was downright horrid this season but you wouldn't think of cutting him
And when they dont have HOA their players have to be able to perform on the biggest of stages. I they're not up to the task then you have to find new players. The Texans need homefield advantage, just like every other team.
