Tracking Prospect Visits 2023

I don’t know? Nothing jumps start a bad run defense than a stud linebacker with pro typical size, speed and instincts.
Consensus is #39, Sanders #38. But we all know team needs and markets will drive elite playmakers for position higher. If I knew Simpson was DeMeco 2.0+ then I would have no issues taking him earlier. Would prefer trading back some but one or both those Lb’s will go before 33. Then next player to consider would be Jack Campbell, Iowa. Wait and see if someone pops in free agency.

I agree if you can guarantee a DeMeco level player go get him at 12. But if I can get Campbell with a 3rd i’m doing that.

I’m so glad they’re not interviewing this idiot. There’s always one in the crowd, every damn year that just epitomizes the word stupid.

2023 NFL Draft: Jalen Carter reportedly shows up heavier, fails to complete position drills at Georgia pro day
I always thought the idea of Carter going #1 overall was BS. He never produced. But how far is he going to drop? Out of the top 10? Into the 2nd half of the draft? I could see the Seahawks taking Carter with their 2nd 1st rounder, at #20.

If they take Stroud at 2, it would be a crime not to take Jaxon Smith-Njigba at 12 if he falls that far. But Carter dropping so far would not help. Chicago would probably get him a 9. :(

I dunno. Would DeMeco grab Carter if he falls to 12? I hope the hell not.

What if Carter was smart enough to sandbag his Pro Day in the hopes of falling far enough back to land with a playoff team.

Grand Valley State Produces a Tackle Prospect
In an unusual Sunday pro day workout, 10 teams assembled in Allendale, Michigan, to watch Grand Valley State. The apple of their eye was massive offensive tackle Quinton Barrow.

Barrow, a Shrine Game participant who measured 6’5 1/2’’ and 322 pounds in Vegas, timed just over 5.2 seconds in the 40 and completed 20 reps on the bench press. His arm length was 34 ¼ inches at the Shrine Bowl.

The Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Houston Texans are showing a ton of interest in Barrow, who will also participate at the Central Michigan Pro Day. In fact, the Texans did extensive board work with Barrow and took him to lunch after the pro day workout.

Barrow, graded as a late sixth-round pick on my board despite not receiving an invitation to the Combine, is getting looks as both a left and right tackle by next-level evaluators.

In the national title game, Carter was breathing more heavily than the other players around him. The announcers tried to say something about his training schedule being off because of the break and limited practices.

At least to me, he has a consistent pattern of not working at an expected level for a top prospect.

Jake Bobo WR UCLA

JM: Which teams have you met with throughout the process? Shrine and the combine was a big opportunity for you to meet with teams.

Jake Bobo: I did the speed dating informal thing at the combine (laughs). At one point or another, either at the Shrine Bowl or combine, I’ve met with all 32 teams informally. I appreciate the opportunity to get in front of every team. I was able to display my football IQ. I had some great conversations with teams about their offensive scheme and whatnot. We talked about how I could fit into their plans.

I didn’t see a top 30 visit for Payne Durham. I liked how he performed at the senior bowl.

Where did you find that info about the visit?

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

“Final Notes From Ohio State’s Pro Day
As I was exiting the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was meeting with the receiver-needy Houston Texans. Everything I’ve heard this week leads me to believe the Texans will draft a receiver with their second pick in the first round (12th overall). Right now, it seems that
pick has come down to either Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Jordan Addison.”

The entire front office, coaching staff and ownership of the Panthers had dinner with Will Levis last night. They aren't taking Levis at #1. Due diligence in case someone blows them away with a trade offer or if he's a FA down the line. You can't reap a harvest if you don't plant seeds. So, it's not shocking that the Texans had a top 30 with Levis. They aren't taking him at 2 any more than Carolina is at 1.

I like Perryman if he can be had. Run defense issue goes away with Perryman and Rankins on roster.
Goes away is much too strong. Rankin and the Jets had the 16th defense against the run. Perryman and the Raiders the 19th. Those guys can be part of the solution. Not the entire solution.

Fair. I guess middle of the road run defense is steel curtain caliber compared to what we’ve seen lately.

Never heard of him or the school, but credit to the scouts for unearthing guys like this. Could be a UDFA selection just to see what you've got. An extreme longshot I'm sure, but crazier things have happened. Good luck to him.

Dylan Horton Edge TCU
Dylan Horton, the explosive and athletic pass rusher who recorded four sacks against Michigan in the CFB semifinal playoff game, looked terrific in drills. Horton was put through both linebacker and defensive line drills. The Patriots, who met with Horton, project him as a 3-4 OLB in their system. He also met with the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears.”
