Tracking Prospect Visits 2023

#12 seems a little high for Smith IMHO, but he has the tools that Ryans could mold into a great player.
Depends on how he does in the drills. Can he cover TE's, does it look like he can transition to LB?

With what I've seen from Smith on the field and his 10 yd split/40 time, I'm betting he can. Gotta wait to see him do the drills at his pro day to get an idea if he can make the transition.

Joey Fisher OL- Shepherd
JM: You talked about meeting with all 32 teams. Did any of those meetings stand out in particular? Do you have any top-30 private visits coming up?

Joey Fisher: I’ll be attending the local day for the Baltimore Ravens in early April. My Pro Day is a bit later this year (3/28). With that being so late, we probably won’t take any visits until April. I’m hoping to put up some great numbers. I’ll be busy with visits about a week before the Pro Day and one week after it as well.

Talking with all 32 teams at the Senior Bowl was a great experience.Of course, there are always a few that you feel like you have great connections with.

Derek Parish Edge Houston

“JM: You had a terrific week. Who were some of the teams you met with in attendance?

Derek Parish: I met with all 32 teams. The teams that I thought really liked me and talked about having a clear plan for me were the Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I had really good conversations with those teams. They knew exactly what they wanted to see out of me.”

Mac Hippenhammer

Slot receiver/return specialist

Miami, Ohio ProDay

“Hippenhammer, a Penn State transfer who has averaged well over 15 yards per reception in college and caught nine TDs last season, measured 5’11’’ and 177 pounds. He timed as fast as 4.53 seconds in the 40 and 6.99 seconds in the three-cone. Hippenhammer, a smaller but very quick wideout, looked good running routes in position drills.

The Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Houston Texans have all expressed interest in the wideout.”

Some comments on these lists:-

QBs - they visited all the big hitters.
Chance of drafting one is very high.

RBs - mostly mid round guys with a couple of good ones. Mid round guy likely.

TEs - not much attention here - mid round guys.
Maybe one of these unless a top one is a target at #33. Low likelihood.

WR - plenty of interest here with candidates in multiple rounds including the first. Likelihood high and from multiple rounds.

OL - another high interest group sprinkled over several rounds. Includes one Center - one of the top 3. High likelihood of a G and C here.

DL - low interest but a couple of above average candidates. Perhaps a FA target likely.

ED - a couple of high profile candidates and nice lower rounders. High probability of a couple of candidates here.

LB - some interest here, mostly mid round candidates. High likelihood.

CB - another highish interest group - mostly mid to late round guys. High likelihood.

S - high interest - strong group of candidates - high likelihood.

I’m wondering if some is a little misdirection or (hope it’s misdirection). I can’t imagine us not being interested in more TEs. The 49ers use their TEs a fair amount and are well rounded.

I agree with your thoughts on several positions. I do think we’ll target multiple WRs from different rounds, and their are several on the list I really like.

I also like several of the CBS that they’ve met with, specifically Rush, Brooks, and Bennett.

I think the possibility of one of the top 4 TEs is there and would be extremely hard to pass up at #33.

Jarrod Clark NT & Lance Boykin CB

Clark said he spoke with the Green Bay Packers last week and has a call lined up with the Indianapolis Colts soon. He said he also spoke with all 32 NFL teams at the Reese’s Senior Bowl and several teams at the combine as well.

“The combine was fun. It’s a dream come true,” Boykin said. “I used to watch the combine every year when I was a kid growing up and trying to mimic and see what they were doing and do it myself. For me to actually be there as one of the guys and to be selected, man, that was just a dream come true. …I’m so happy that I was able to have that experience and I’m going to definitely tell my kids about it one day. Boykin said he’s met with all 32 NFL teams informally.”

Simpson in Ryans defense would be something to see.

I had mentioned on one of these threads that the two best fits in this draft for DeMeco’s defense were Drew Sanders and Trenton Simpson.

I think Simpson could achieve his potential with this team and he’s got a lot of potential!

Just imagine Simpson and Harris at LB. Two LBs that run low 4.4 speed. The range that would provide the defense!

Sell me on selecting him #12

I wouldn’t go LB at 12. If they go defense at 12 i’d want an edge rusher.

But 33 him and Sanders are in consideration, both likely go late first though.
I actually think they’ll fall to the 2nd round. Maybe even mid 2nd. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how the board falls in April. I’m hoping we trade back into the second, or pickup another Day 2 pick somehow.
