Titans @Texans AAR

I watch the games.

I record them and I agree with you the the OL was trash earlier this yr, when you had Scruggs at C, Green at LG, Tunsil playing hurt at LT. They've been avg with Patterson at C, Scruggs at LG, A healthier Tunsil at LT. They've been improving. See, the Lions game and the 2nd Jags game.

In the last 4 games he was sacked 11 times. That is not good. In two of those games {Lions, & Titans) he was sacked 4 times in each. The amount of pressure was high and I haven’t looked at how many times he was hit. So no sir the offensive line hasn’t gotten better. Last season that make shift line went 5-6 games without given up a sack.

Guess what every team is dealing with injuries to their offensive line.

Honestly… while the pressure/sack numbers are still high… it is -evident- to my eyeballs that the line is performing so much better. They’re still very bad though.

Let me ask you this, how many of those sacks were on Stroud?

Bottom line is he's not as good as he was last yr and is missing throws he made last yr even when he's not under pressure. He's probably ranked in the 20-25 QB's this yr, when he was a top 5-10 QB last yr. Regardless of pressure he's not the same guy.

Stroud was able to make these types of throws last season.

Unfortunately the TE's need to be kept in to block a large amount of the time. I do like Slowik getting the ball into Mixon's hands in the passing game. Mixon is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball.

This off-season/FA period, I'm hoping they draft Milum in rd 1 and trade back into the 1st for Warren/Loveland. Then get a good young speed WR like Bo Melton in FA along with a guy like Trey Smith or John Feliciano. That should fix the offense. I would give up a 2nd and a 2026 1st to accomplish this.

I hope they can draft a Mukuba and or bringing home Denver Harris in rds 3-5.
And the TE’s are being kept in to block and doing a piss poor job of it. Pressure is still getting through a little too fast on the edges.

Not a zero sum game man. He’s just as good when you consider that his o-line has largely been playing poorly most of the year. They not only are getting him hit more & his TD to int ratio is still 2-1 & he’s up there in yardage passing, passer rating and the team is winning. His o-line are killing drives with bad penalties and have literally taken points off the boards. You can maybe deal with 1 of those..not all 3.

Most definitely he makes it. At a minimum he makes the OLB work for it. Schultz can’t even get in position to make the block b/c the OLB’s beat him to the spot and easily swat away his hands and go around him.
This is a big issue with the offense. Is Slowik wrong for calling these type of plays, or should they be thrown out of the playoffs. Remember these types of plays are staples in a WCO.

Gotta disagree with you on this one. He's missing wide open receivers that he never would've missed last yr. Missed Collins that would've been a TD and was int instead. Missed a wide open Dell on 3rd and inches. Plays like this is causing Slowik to alter his play calling.

He's also holding onto the ball longer this yr. Agreed about the penalty killing drives. Not a good look for Ryans and the coaching staff.

He should use them sparingly until he has a TE that has the blocking chops to pull it off…or 1 that’s a credible threat in the passing game that OLB’s have to respect. Right now d-coordinators don’t fear Schultz In any way shape or form.

Yep, This is why I would draft Milum, (If available) and trade up for either Warren or Loveland. Then in FA I would sign Feliciano to play RG and Saubert as a blocking TE, along with signing a speedy WR (Bo Melton) These FA signings should be very affordable.

I'm going to do my 1st mock sometimes in the next few days after watching this college football season.

And you don’t think any of that has to do with him taking too many shots b/c the protection is breaking down?

He’s not holding onto the ball any longer than he did last year it just seems like it b/c he’s running for his life more this year than last. All u have to do is look at both Baltimore games from last year. Pretty much all this year He has looked like he did in both those games last year…& it’s b/c the issue is the same; the protection is breaking down too fast, he’s scrambling trying to get outta there and getting moved off his spot & you go through that enough in a game your clock gets sped up & your accuracy goes down.

Agreed he's doing this and speeding up his internal clock. The plays I'm talking about he wasn't under pressure.

He's leaving the pocket from time to time when he doesn't have too. This probably because of him being consistently rushed, the rush has also cause him to have a case of the happy feet. If he cant solve the case of his happy feet he will never be the QB we all want him to be. I think he can solve these issues this yr, but probably wont until next yr at the earliest if at all.

One of my favorite go to’s: Vinny Testverde was under so much duress as the Bucs QB, they claimed he was color blind. Finally goes to a team with a real OL, and Shazam….color blindness disappears and Vinny finally starts playing up to expectations.

Texans have a history of thinking their OL’s are just fine and have successfully burned up young QB’s who were expected to be better than average NFL QB’s. They have failed once again with the trash OL they’ve put on the field this season to protect, yet again, another young “Franchise QB”.

It may be time for Caserio to hire a retired OL talent evaluator to help the team identify players that fit their scheme. I’m good with Patterson at C and would really hope Fisher is healthy enough that Ryans and Strausser would use him to replace Howard. Mason still sucks arse, but I’m just not sure Ryans has the balls to pull him or Howard.

At some point, I want to see the teams super secret weapon (RG- Broeker) take some starting unit snaps. Hail, they snatched him off the Bills PS, after a solid Pre Season and essentially buried him on the roster for 2 seasons, without risking the move of putting him on the PS here. There’s been zero discussions of cutting him which make me wonder, what does the team have in Broeker, that is so appealing they refuse to play, cut, trade, or move him to the PS?
