Thursday Night Football 2014

Playoffs

Hall of Fame
Sep. 4 Green Bay at Seattle 7:30 p.m. NBC CenturyLink Field

Tough task for the Pack going into Seattle... Rookie C needs to step up.

How many penalties on Hawks handsy DBs? Will Percy Harvin play a full season?

On that first & ten than Rodgers changed it to a run play... I wonder what the heck he was looking at that made him think that was a good idea.

I didn't expect Peppers to be playing OLB. I figured he'd be their Jj Watt & play the 5 tech.

E Thomas not gonna make through the season. Second straight time he didn't call fair catch with a defender closing in.

If that were us we'd be talking about how bad a team we are, how Sam Shields shouldn't be starting & Clinton Dix would be deemed a bust.

I think Shields did about as good as he could with no help. If he stays with the WR then Wilson get s a nice gain by running...just a well executed offensive play.

Zach Miller doing an old school Owen Daniels impersonation.

Ha'Sean needs to work on his tackling.

It's been a while since I've seen this kind of blocking downfield. Seattle is getting up the field and laying out the Packer secondary at will. Combine that with a Marshawn Lynch in the backfield and Russell Wilson has easy money.

& the Packers can't make a hole. Rodgers just chewed out his center.

I really love the first Thursday night of the regular season. I look forward to it all week. There's something extra special about the anticipation of the first real game. But it doesn't quench your thirst...does it?

It's kind of like sneaking a few french fries on your way home after getting take out.

Now I can't wait for the first real Sunday of the season. You sit in "your spot" at 11:59am, the day is young and bright, and like a starting gun it's on!

Remote control set on both channels with others programmed in your brain for fast channel surfing, computer on. Game breaks begin to filter in with all the highlights from so many games.

And you're there, metaphorically eating the meal you went out for in the first place.

What french fries?

Come Sunday, welcome to the fun part, fellers. :fans: :texflag: :fans:

Peppers looked like a shell of himself for most of the game.

Rodgers looked like a shell of himself. I don't know what it was, or can't quite put my finger on it, but that guy used to look like a magician with some of the things he used to do. The ball still looked like it was shot out of a cannon & he still looked purty darn accurate. But it's like a hundredth of a second slower & a hair off.

I'd still take him over Fitzpatrick but y'know. .. hopefully he'll shake it off.

This is the same D that dismantled Peyton so yeah, I'm thinking they could get Rodgers off his game too.

Agree.

Seattle's secondary was covering tight all game. Packers OL was pathetic. Lacy and Starks did the best they could but had no help. With no threat in the run game and an OL who can't give the QB time you have no chance against these guys.

I see Capers is deploying his 2005 Texans defensive playbook.

Edit: what I am trying to say is that packers defense looks **** awful

Undisciplined, the Packers looked like they were still in preseason mode, while the Sealants looked like they were ready for the postseason.

Answer: NONE. Seattle DBs get away with stuff like the old NFL. Everyone else is playing under new rules.

They got call for PI a couple plays before the Kuhn TD. It's what set up that TD.

Oh! You included the mugging that has ALWAYS been called.I'm thinking about the ticky tack fouls that everyone else is being called for, but Seattle gets away with. It's definitely a double standard.

You're talking about in the preseason right?

I could have sworn they said they were going to put extra emphasis on it in the preseason, but it wasn't going to be called that way in the regular season... which started last night.

I'm including what everyone else is being called for the last two years as well as in pre season.

No...one of thier lbs got caught trying to cover Cobb downfield & mugged him.

Those dudes just know how to cover...period.

Not to mention the Packers were simply beat going in. They didn't even try Sherman. They put their 3rd receiver over there and stopped using half the field right from the start. Hawks had the edge before the game kicked off with a gameplan like that especially since that is the side Rodgers throws deep to the most. Checkmate Seattle.

You're being ridiculous this morning. It was a well played and officiated game. Neither team got "ticky tack" fouls.

If you're including preseason play maybe both teams should have benched their good players and played all the scrubs. Then you would have seen flags galore...like in PRE-season.

I agree here...you can't play the game scared and the Pack refused to even look towards Sherman's side so it seemed.

yep. I think the Seahawks could repeat this year. The cycle in the NFL is every 10-15 years for a back-to-back champion to establish a dynasty. I see no reason at this point that Seattle could not be that team.

That is exactly the opposite of what the NFL said which was it was not some sort of preseason only officiating.

If Percy Harvin stays healthy I definitely see them repeating. Not that they're talented enough without him, but he's just a huge difference maker on that team.

It's only one game and honestly the Seattle offense hasnt really impressed me, even in their SB run. If they can run and throw all over stout defenses like the Rams and the Cards then I think the repeat is on but the Packers defense has been broken for awhile now.

I hear Wade Phillips is available...

I thought the rookie C had a good game -- Lindsley. RT Sherrod was horrid, though, recalling 2013 Derek Newton. LT not much better. Marshawn Lynch looked very quick, and Percy wasn't being used in a manner that indicated any fear of injury.

Their team is predicated on strong defense with efficient offense. They don't have to dominate offensively to win, however you must admit with a healthy Percy Harvin they are more dangerous.
But I do agree they won't repeat since we're going 19-0 :koolaid::fans::trophy::gotexans1
