These next 4 games could continue or end our season

Y’all are sucking the life out of this season :forrest:
I’ve read this board through the bye and convinced myself we go 0-4 to finish the season and the Colts take our playoff spot. Only other eventuality I can convince myself of is beating either the Ravens or Chiefs in the regular season only to be humiliated in a blowout in the playoffs by the same team.

Hope Bobby and Strausser can prove me wrong!

Messing around with the playoff machine on ESPN..

IF the following happens Week 16 Change in seeding listed in parentheses
Chargers (6) over Broncos (7)
Texans (3) over Chiefs (1)
Ravens (5) over Steelers (4)
Bengals over Browns
Bills (2) over Pats
Colts over Titans

Week 17 picks and playoff seedings IF it plays out this way
Chiefs (1) over Steelers (5)
Ravens (3) over Texans (4)
Chargers (6) over Pats
Bengals over Broncos (7)
Bills (2) over Jets
Colts over Gmen

Week 18 picks and playoff seedings IF it plays out this way.
Texans (4) over Titans
Bills (2) over Pats
Ravens (3) over Browns
Bengals over Steelers (6)
Chargers (5) over Raiders
Chiefs (1) over Broncos
Colts (7) over Jags

IF, IF it all plays out that way (yea we all know it won't but, but this is the fun part) Change the the Broncos to beating the Chiefs that last week and the seeding goes like this.....
1) Bills
Broncos (7) at Chiefs (2)
Steelers (6) at Ravens (3)
Chargers (5) at Texans (4)
That scenario knocks the Colts out of the playoffs and puts the Broncos back in. I have the Steelers losing out. Tough schedule. I tried to do it as realistic as possible (not possible at all but you know what I mean) I think we get the Chargers at home first round. I like that better than the Ravens, I think. We always have trouble with Lamar and Herbert has been nursing a bad ankle all year.

Just some fun stuff to think about.

***Cliffnotes .. this team ain't doing anything of real value if they see playoffs.

Prove me wrong Texans. Id happily eat crow.

Not gonna be a lot of crow served up this year. We ate most of it last year. :)

It's looking like we're fresh out of crow this year. Again, I would gladly be very proud to be completely wrong. Don't confuse my pessimism with wanting to see this team lose, especially in the playoffs.

I have a pretty good feel for what the teams look like that beat us down in the playoffs. Unless something drastically changes, I think the only way we're beating certain teams in the playoffs (Chiefs w/ Mahomes, Ravens, and probably the Bills) is if they beat themselves and we don't turn the ball over. We can't consistently protect CJ. We can't consistently run the ball against good run defenses, and we sure as hell can't beat a team if we fall behind. Our defense is championship/elite quality, but like the team we had in 2012, our offense more often than not is like bringing a pillow to a gun fight. The D will eventually get tired, or give up a big play and we're toast. I really really really hope I'm wrong.

meh......

I'm already in next season mode because I think this season is a wash. We'll get to watch them lose in the wild card game and then the offseason bitchin and moaning will begin in earnest.
If they can sustain that defensive performance, they could make some noise in the playoffs. The next 2 games will be hard to judge since they're both on short weeks. I'd play starters against the chiefs and backups against the Ravens & tAcks. With the division clinched, Give the starters a couple of weeks to heal up.

I'm good with sitting starters for the Hillbilly Inbreds, but let's not forget that after the Ravens game there will be 17 days between then and the playoff game they likely play on that Saturday. You sit them for the Ravens too and that's 3 weeks of no live football. No way I'm doing that.

The reconfigured ol seemed to give Stroud decent protection last game. Stroud just needs to slow down his going through the progressions and that will help his accuracy. Hopefully this happens.

That's not a bad point. Play the starters the 1st half against the Ravens & Steelers.

All depends on what happens this week. We win, Steelers lose… then you have to play the starters the next week too. Because in that scenario the Texans still have a shot at the 3 seed.
After week 17 results, well then, then Demeco can start thinkin about resting starters. Because at that point the 4 seed is locked in

I don't think it matters that much. Either way you're still going to get one of those 4 teams (LA, Den, Bal, Pit) in the 1st round. Also, getting the 3 seed likely has you going to Buffalo in the next round. The 4 seed puts you in the KC bracket. Provided all the top seeds win of course. I mean KC and Buffalo will still be cold but Buffalo could have a 1,000 feet of snow too. Then again, you likely have to go to both places if you have any dreams of going to New Orleans, so again, I don't think it really matters much.

Also, there's no guarantee seeding is locked going into week 18. If the Texans are playing that game of trying for the 3 seed, does that mean they've got to play all out against Nashville?

I say play everyone these next 2 games not even worrying about seeding. Give the new OL alignment a chance to try and gel maybe???, in the next 2, rest up against the Inbreds and take your chances in the 2nd season.

Miami imo is the worst matchup for us. Speed all over the place. Tyreke Hill is gonna be a nightmare to cover just by himself let alone with Waddle on the other side. overcommitting to either of those guys will likely leave room for Achane to go nuts.

If Tua gets ANY time to sit back there…
Demeco is a genius. He knew what they were going to do & beat them before that speed got the ball. Dolphins looked like a totally different team.

Just like the Bills did earlier in the season.

If... & here I am letting my excitement build up agian, if he can make these teams (Chiefs & Ravens) look so out of charatcter, there's a chance. Chiefs are next & they already look like they could be got. But they've also shown that they can & don't mind winning ugly. Heart of a champion & all that.

But Baltimore, we're going to need defense & ST to put some point on the board.

They really didn't have much firepower with him.
Don't know the extent of Metchie's injury, but he needs to step up and play some big boy football now. Hutch too.
Dell was making a difference. You can’t deny that. Metchie and Hutchinson can’t separate. There’s no denying that either.

It’s over. Just being realistic.

Today maybe. This season he hasn't been.

Looking at this team now, here is what I see…

Offense: Mixon and Nico are ready to play in February. CJ flashes capability to make plays needed to take over games but sophomore slump for both him and Slowik is real. Offensive line showed signs of improvement yesterday and may continue to improve enough to get CJ’s mojo back. WR room is Nico and the JAGS unfortunately. The ceiling on this offense is limited.

Defense: Pass rush is elite. Team will miss Pitre and Ward (for as long as Ward is out). They are key to stopping the short passing game that the Chiefs were using with great success to extend drives. Getting Azeez back will help and I am excited to see him paired with Harris who is rounding into game shape in time for playoff football. Texans defense should be as good as any come playoff time.

Special teams: As good as any that the team will face. Kaimi is either the best kicker in the league or he’s missing chip shots… very strange. I have more confidence in him hitting a 55+ yard FG than I do him hitting one inside 35.

This is a defensive football team. Hopefully CJ, Mixon and Nico can cobble up enough plays to win games and go further than any Texans football team has gone this season. But to do so, the defense will need to play out of their minds each week. Do what they did to Josh Allen and Jared Goff earlier this season, but in the playoffs.

Like Dr. Strange told Ironman in Avengers, i’ve looked through all the possible scenarios… this is the one path to victory!

Sorry, I haven’t got the time for people who can’t keep up.
How about Logic? Doesn't matter how many yards or receptions Dell gets, if we're not scoring it's a small impact.

What kind of impact are you referring to?
