here's the rest of it
Jeff Fisher led the North team's practice on a cloudy afternoon in Mobile. Today's practiced lacked the intensity that day two and three should display as players wore shorts and contact was minimal. 1-on-1 individual drills, 7-on-7 passing drills, 9-on-7 rushing drills, and 11-on-11 practices were held.
More then any other prospect at the Senior Bowl, quarterback Jay Cutler has the most to gain. His stock has been rising sharply and a good Senior Bowl week could move him into the top 10 picks in the first round, with the Jets, Lions, or Cardinals all possibilities. However, a poor showing could drop him out of the first round completely.
Day one was an up and down practice for Cutler. On one hand he showed the incredible arm strength and size that scouts love. However, his decision making and footwork were suspect at times. This was the main knock against Cutler at Vanderbilt.
Another north QB, Michael Robinson of Penn State, was very disappointing and showed why most scouts believe he will have to play another position in the NFL. He showed poor footwork and an inaccurate arm today.
Virginia offensive tackle, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, displayed the strength, agility, and mean streak that will make him an elite offensive tackle in the NFL. Expect Ferguson to be a top five pick in April.
Davin Joseph's performance was underwhelming. The Oklahoma guard was blown off the line on numerous occasions by stronger defensive tackles in 1-on-1 drills.
Tye Hill's stock continues its meteroric rise. He displayed excellent cover skills in 1-on-1 drills, where he intercepted a pass. His pure speed and cover ability have moved him into the first round.
Will Blackmon of Boston College who played both wide receiver and cornerback, worked out at cornerback during today's practice. He had trouble covering most of the wide receivers in 1-on-1 drills and will need to have a better performance in the rest of the week or he will see his draft position slide.
Wide receiver, Derek Hagan from Arizona State had trouble catching the ball during drills and the full practice. He made two bad drops and lacked focus. He'll need to correct this tomorrow or teams may drop him on their draft boards.
