The Rise of Hannah

Aaahhhh yes….opinions. Well good luck with the glass half empty outlook. I’m going to stay with the glass half full outlook.
Just know who's really calling the shots and it ain't Cal or the football people when it comes to major decisions.

Problem is people think other winning franchises don’t do it. Steelers have done it. New England too.
When have the Rooney's or Kraft's been involved in draft day decisions? Only time I can remember Kraft getting involved in draft day decisions was making Belichick trade Jimmy G at Brady's request.

I imagine on Patriots message boards, where they don't follow the Texans 24/7, that they don't consider the McNairs meddling owners either. And I am sure they could tell us every single time in the last 40 years when their owners "meddled". Because that is how being the fan of a specific team works.

And Kraft did what he did.

No excuses.

Wait, so it was Janice McNair that made the call on Ryans as HC and instructed Nick to draft Stroud?

This needs its own reality show.

Something tells me that there are certain people that got their boat rocked when she came in and let NRG that she has a say in how things are ran. Being a woman with no football experience has created some push back I bet.

And yet we have the hottest name in HC’s that were available coaching for us and a potential franchise QB. Along with a top defensive talent.

I forget if I am taking about Janice or Hannah.

Someone remind me who again is in charge.

It's a flat organization. No one is in charge.

Seems Coach Belichick felt Robert Kraft was meddlesome.

"Wickersham's book reveals that Belichick felt Kraft was meddling in team affairs and making decisions to appease Brady. Meanwhile, Kraft felt Belichick didn't show him the proper respect, telling confidants that he "gave" Belichick the opportunity to coach the Patriots, according to Wickersham."

And regarding Rooney someone mentioned earlier....seems he is "involved" as well if I am reading between the lines correctly.

“Art Rooney obviously is the owner of the team and the president of the team,” Colbert said. “Of course he’s going to be in the loop on every decision as any chief operating officer would be of any corporation."

"But no one thinks Rooney is dictating every decision. Obviously the head coach and the general manager make some decisions."

"A lot of decisions are made around here with a collective effort and, in our end, when we’re talking about players, it’s a collective effort between myself, coach Tomlin and Art, and that’s the way we do business,” Colbert said."

Steelers G.M. Colbert says Rooney is not a meddlesome owner - ProFootballTalk (nbcsports.com)

So am I to surmise that both Kraft and Rooney are just as "engaged" as the MacNair are in Houston? YES!

I didn't @ the class clown & his reality show ..... but you are free to make your own assumptions.

That article was pretty much a carbon copy of a conversation I had with the two people mentioned .... Janice still holds the reins.

So when Roonney says we need to get back to running the ball and they draft rb,oline, and fire Arians, who made that call? When BB wanted Jimmy G to take over but Brady went upstairs to Kraft and then Jimmy was traded, Kraft didn't make that call? You act like an owner won't pull out the big joker when they want to. Its their team, period.

Whatever that means.

I think it means she sat in the war room during draft day with a mimosa in hand and applauded Nick/Demeco's draft picks as they made them. I could be wrong however. I think every NFL owner should enjoy draft day in person.

Man exactly, every freaking owner is involved in their business.

The Steelers paid the price for ownership involvement.

I gave you Jimmy G in my post.

Also if you can't understand the difference between lifer owners like the Rooney's and an 86 yr old housewife and her gold digging marketing daughter in law then I don't think we will ever be on the same page. It's certainly not conducive to winning championships.

I’m sure Janice spends 100 hrs a week watching “game tape” on YouTube & reading all the scouting reports from PFF before telling Nick who to pick & which future picks he can/can’t use. Her draft board probably projects out 4 or 5 years.

I’m speculating but I think she has a custom built cloud based AI modeling salary cap implications.

Nothing like having 2 women running the team you root for.

1. A 90 yr old woman, she makes all of the final calls.
2. A Gold Digging woman with a marketing background.

What could ever go wrong? Maybe now some will realize what's been wrong with the Texans org since Bob passed away.
Heymark, what's untrue about this post?

I'm sure Hannah said hey mom we can bring the fans back if you allow my pick of Stroud to happen. Hannah is very sharp woman when it comes to getting what she wants. After all she snagged a billionaire.

Look at post #112 in this thread for your answer.

Spot On!
Only I would add 30+ hours a week perusing Texans Talk pages for ideas on the next big splash, because you know....word is they are doing what the fans want to sell tickets.

I could ask what's true about it... but I know it's a waste of time
Your right, Janice is only 86 yrs old

You're entitled to whatever opinion you have about Hannah, I've got mine and 2 things, 1. Through out history there have been many women like Hannah, some of these women have even written books on this subject and said things look like it's just as easy to marry a rich guy as it is a poor guy. They were groomed for this. I suggest you go look up the history of the women in the Astor family as a guide.

2. You really think it's a good idea to have these 2 women running a billion dollars company that happens to be the team you root for, especially given their backgrounds? This is the main reason that I chose not to renew my season tickets after 2 decades. That and my wife said she's no longer interested in God'ells political NFL.

Don't need a specific reason to dislike a post. The post says more about you than it does about the subject of your post.
I'm fine about me and I'm sure your fine about you. I respect you and hope you respect me.

However what I said is spot on and I really respect the way you avoided the question and tried to disparage my character all in one simple short post. It is actually quite impressive. If you're not a lawyer, you should think about becoming one.

I LOL at posts like yours because I'm not on board with what Hannah is doing down on Kirby these days, because I don't think they marketing firm she's leading can ever win a championship. Not that she cares about winning championships.

What I love about this post is it's complete lack of self awareness.
This post? You're being kind. Any hint of self-awareness would make someone realize it's silly to call twenty-year-old players dumb when they have been posting on this forum for almost as many years as these kids have been alive and don't or can't post a link. LMAO.

I know you remember Vinny. He told me one thing about moderating that I try to remember and follow. "Allow the posters to define themselves." I don't like a lot of stuff that's posted here. It reflects poorly on the site. But unless something breaks forum rules, it's up to those that read the forum to come to their own conclusions.

Show me one thing before the fact that has been gleaned from Texans "sources". And then you can talk about "truth".
What?

Try to stay on topic and quit trying to use deflection tactics.

Do you like an 86 yr old woman and her marketing firm daughter in law running the franchise you root for?

Wasn't the topic "truth"?
Read the rest of my post that I edited.

And yes, Janice is 86, and yes Hannah at best is power hungry and at worst a gold digger. Both things are true. Do you see the Rooney's or Hunt's wives with the role Hannah has taken in the org and ask yourself why this has happened? I've got the answer for you, 4 words, Janice and Cal McNair.

All I know is that the Texans hired the top head coaching candidate on the market and just completed the best draft they've had since 2006. If you want to attribute all of that to Janice and Hannah McNair, great. Keep up the good work, ladies.

The only way the marketing firm with a football division will ever win a championship will be through blind luck. I was really on board with a total rebuild because I knew with Derrick they team was never going to win a championship due to the McNair marketing machine I've got the same feeling now, unfortunately it's going to be another long 5 years or more.

Lol, this is the classic "tail wagging the dog" by the local media here. If Janice McNair is "still" calling shots as referenced in the above article, that implies that she's always been calling the shots..which means that all of this franchise's misdeeds over the last 4-5 years are on her too...not just what's happening now that the franchise is trending in the right direction. But if you just listened to the local sports media here, this franchise's dumpster fire status has been mostly attributed to either Easterby, BoB; no denigration of her like they've all been too happy to do with Cal. So lets pump the brakes on her/their "good work" b/c 1 of the main gripes regarding Easterby in the FO from fans was that he didn't really have any FO football experience & that gripe shouldn't really be any different with Janice making Culley and Lovie Smith hires...b/c those wreak of a non-football person's hire.

That's kinda why this thread is somewhat overblown nonsense. Janice and Hannah have likely always been major factors in the decisions this franchise has made, Janice b/c she's the "official" majority owner and Hannah b/c she's always been a major player within the foundation. I would likely contend that they probably had a little too much say in the front office ops...b/c what we've seen over the last several months (good football moves) don't line up with what had largely been happening since daddy McNair died and Janice became the majority owner.

I think what has happened is the McNair family finally sat down and carved out roles for everyone that they're best at. Cal and by extension NC have effectively worked with these 2 prominent women in the franchise to give them roles within it that better work for them and the franchise...probably convinced mama McNair to take less of a football ops decision making role and more of a professor-emeritus ambassador-type role...& Hannah's role was probably expanded a little from her role in the foundation where she's proven to be very good at daling with the media, smoozing and crafting an image to help Cal keep his pulse on what's going on with the fans....which means she has to be more involved with the media on the football ops side.

I am in agreement. I don't know if Janice or Hannah gets the kudos, but great job by someone.
