its irreparable. Its a great example of how NOT TO handle a premier player and his possible departure. everyone involved needs to understand the deadlines, and what you can realistically expect to attain at each point along the line. Once July 15 the team should have gone silent, and prepared for JD to report when he said he was going to moved it up from week 1 regular season, to week 3 preseason, but then OBrien tried to trade him to MIA without a consult and pissed him off so now he's back to week 1 if that.

smartest thing to do would be for Obrien and everyone involved to shut the fk up, let the man come in and wreck shop like he usually does, and sell prior to the deadline next year when the value again is at an even higher point because the 2 first round picks are not in play next year. What they are trying to do now is just 'get rid' of a nuisance and since its such a high profile guy Buttcrack McQuack cant just cut him like Foreman, i'd be blown away if they get anything of true substance for an elite edge defender in his prime at this point.
 
OBrien will get ripped off on the trade like he always does going back to trading 3 picks for Jaelen Strong

I am not trying to defend O'Brien

I'm not sure we understand what happened. There's no way we can even think of trading Clowney without his ok since he hasn't signed his tender. From what I understand a team would have to speak to Clowney to negotiate a contract & the Texans to negotiate compensation.

If you're talking about the Miami rumor, the rumor was everything was settled, Miami had an agreement with Clowney, Miami had an agreement with the Texans, then Clowney balked.

But this is the way FA goes, especially when you have a player who will command substantially more than he's worth. Substantially more than the tag.

It is pretty much odd that this is happening with a valuable edge defender.

This usually happens with runningbacks because they aren't valuable anymore and their careers are short.

I can see JD in New York. Still Surprised MIA didn’t make sense for him ... closer to his hometown, the beach and nightlife. I’d really like Tunsil.

Hey Unc do you know much about Clowney personally because I know very little about him other than I think he has one child ?
Oh but wait I seem to remember that he doesn't even drink so but do you think the party scene would appeal to him ?
 
Could have to do with how much money these teams are willing to offer Clowney in an extension or how they plan on using him.

I've seen this in two different places...though they could have the same source. What gives me pause about this is that Fuller left the last practice early.

I've also read that Alshon Jeffery may have been inquired about.

Hopefully Fuller is okay.

Jadeveon Clowney is going to be traded soon. Well, at least that's what one NFL Network analyst believes.

Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network told Patrick Meagher on Sirius XM Radio's "The Wrap", he believes Clowney will be traded in the next day or two.



"There's a lot of teams that are after him. The Houston Texans, they want a receiver, they want another receiver to go with Hopkins, so I think there's teams, I know there's two teams negotiating with Clowney right now in terms of trying to talk to him about coming to their team because he's got to sign the tender before they can trade him, so he does have some control of the action."

Still expect Clowney to be here this year and as somebody else said, can't remember who, they said if they succeed in trading JD now we'd only get pennies on dollars for what his real value is. Lets play him in 2019 and trade him at the most auspiciouse time in 2020.

Yesterday I thought that if Clowney leaves town before the season, it would be a terrible deal for us. Hearing that 10 teams may have been involved gives me a little hope that we will get closer to his real value. It only takes one team to fall in love.

He definitely won't get Mack value, though I think Clowney is still very disruptive in ways that don't show on a stat sheet.

If we were to get Tunsil and a decent receiver from the Dolphins (as an example) I think I'd be okay with it. We could get more after the season, but if it involves a good LT now, I'll live with it.

Of course I wanted RS to trade up for Tunsil during the draft.

Tunsil = Not Texans Worthy.

I’ve been wondering about this because as soon as he signs that Tender he’s tradeable and gets no say in when/where he’s traded to.

So if he knows for sure the Texans want to trade him I wonder if he prolongs this?

He can maybe scare other teams away by saying he won’t agree to a long term deal with them though.

Maybe a trade has already been negotiated and Clowney has already agreed to sign his tender.

I could see BOB trading a late rd pick to Philly for V. He's avg, but that would be a great upgrade over the Crap currently at LT.
