He can't go to training camp until he signs his tender.

The deadline to designate a player with the franchise tag is March 5. Yes they could have traded him before then but OBrien came up with this plan when he evaluated Tytus as a guard

For all you know the overtures didn't come until after the deadline. But if we go with what the rumor has purported, the supposed trade deal was in fact done "months ago" which would indeed mean that it was taken care of before the July 15 deadline. So what has happened between then and now? Well Clowney has taken his time signing the tender........& then got in his feelings to justify not signing the tender.

I also find it rather curious that right as he was reportedly ready to come in & sign, he all of a sudden just gets wind of this Miami deal that was supposedly done months ago. Just a little too convienient on the timing there. My guess is he already knew about it & faked like he didn't until it was advantageous for him to reveal..........or he really didn't know about it b/c Cook didn't tell him & someone on MIA's side leaked it to him to poison the waters of him coming back to us/to drive BoB's price down on the trade.

As it is the media is driving this bus getting everyone riled up. Tripped me out how they were reporting it as breaking news a few days ago that Clowney fired his agent....Then surprise!:woot2 Turns out that **** happened 2 weeks ago & they are just getting wind of it.

He is doing himself no favors....

doesn't make it any less rumor mongering...but McClain has also has reported that They're trying to trade for an LT & has cited Tunsil as the only target they'd want from Miami. You kinda left that out of your statement though.
 
Anything less than a Clowney trade for a kicker I wont believe it.

With this O-line... our kickers will be the busy... we need depth.

Stop being so thin skinned! By the way, is it at least name brand ass, I mean, chin cleanser? Or is it some generic brand? Only asking cause I fully expect O’Brien to be taken to the woodshed every time he “negotiates” anything.

You can be champs of the AFC South with a 9-7 record this year. I don't see either the Titans or Jaggies doing it, so it's probably the Dolts. I just don't think our o-line has it in them.
 
Lol at the Miami roster will revolt claim. There is two guys on that team that are legitimate quality starters. A few average starters and a bunch of backups. Most talent depleted team in the NFL. Who cares if they revolt. They’ll be easily replaced the next day.

Sounds like Clowney might be willing to accept a trade there if talks have gotten that far.

We won't be able to move on until after next year's draft which apparently won't have a first or second round pick
 
So Miami gets a 1st, another 'high' draft pick, and then parlays JD into more high draft picks next off-season when they trade him before the deadline as we should have. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this be the closest thing to the Herschel Walker trade that the league has seen since then if this really happens?

But at this point give me a 10 yr starter at LT. Tunsil is really good and started cooking into his own. Wonder how long it will take for Devlin to screw him up?
 
They want Clowney as a trade asset to turn him into more draft picks next off-season. What's the worst we would get next off-season for JD? A 2nd and a 3rd rounder? Probably better but I'll run w/ it. This deal is really trading a 2020 1st, 2020 2nd or 3rd, (2021 2nd and 2021 3rd (what we'd get for JD next year if we hold onto him)) for Tunsil. This is self imposed desperation if true. You don't dig yourself out of a hole by digging yourself deeper into the hole.

Putting everything on O'Brian's plate more like it. That is a recipe for disaster, like game planning, clock management, challenges, evaluating talent and most importantly, coaching.
