Cyrus Jones, CB/Returner, 5-10 197, Alabama

For Saints he will have immediate impact on special team punt returns filling void left but never filled of Darren Sproles. On defense he will become the Saints nickel CB.

haha, that's hilarious he did take him. I thought so.

In the real draft I really hope he goes somewhere where he's not stuck behind a potential phenom. I really think Booker can show out in the NFL and am excited to see him at the next level.

with the 113th pick the Tennessee Titans select Jerrell Adams- TE South Carolina

Both Walker and Fasano over 30, Adams brings some needed speed and good route running and is a willing blocker. Plus the name is too good to pass up :D

As funny as Marshall picking straight chalk on all his picks is concerned the guy has managed to walk out of the first 4 rounds with Laquon Treadwell, Connor Cook, Jaylon Smith, Jeremy Cash, and Devontae Booker. Not too bad.
We should've given him the Texans.

With the 114th pick the Oakland Raiders select Harlan Miller Southeastern Louisiana. He's got the desired height and athleticism for todays NFL. While he might lack the ideal thickness position we've seen first hand here that a skinny CB isnt the worst thing in the world. I havent got a chance to watch to much film on him, but from what I know he always mirrored the opposing teams top receiver at school, and he played very well at the senior bowl. The Raiders just nabbed Sean Smith from their division rival Chiefs, but the more solid corners in todays NFL the better. They continue their defense over haul here

4-115. Atlanta (thunderkyss) - On The Clock
4-116. Indianapolis (The Pencil Neck) - In The Hole
4-117. Buffalo (bah007) - Ready

With any luck, we can get thru the Jets pick and get to the Texans tonight/tomorrow morning

So we've got @The Pencil Neck on the clock for the Colts.

Then I've got my pick ready for Buffalo.

Then we have the group pick for Blake's Jets.

And then we can open discussion for the Texans.

I seriously debated this pick. I've already taken Spriggs and Vadal Alexander to help beef up the line, and there are other positions I need. Lord knows, no one wants to have a line with three rookies on it going up against JJ Watt twice during the season.

But I couldn't pass this up.

With the 116th pick, the Indianapolis Colts select:

Jack Allen, C, MSU

With the #117 pick the Bills select:

Keyarris Garrett - WR, Tulsa

B.J. Goodson was set to be the pick here but Atlanta forced me to audible. Garrett is the top WR left on my board and Buffalo has a need for a secondary option to Watkins. Garrett has had an injury-riddle career but blew up his senior year and answered questions about his athleticism at the combine. He comes from a Briles system at Tulsa and is extremely raw, but he has projectable skills to the next level. It just may take a little bit of time to develop them.

Next up we have the Jets, which is a group pick. They have already addressed OT, OG, and OLB.

I see their top remaining needs as QB, WR, and ILB.

My top players at those positions are Vernon Adams, Leonte Caroo, and Joe Schobert.

I vote Caroo here.

dmmit!

So housekeeping matter is everyone OK with me changing the order to reflect the Clady trade? - 7-228 to the Jets and 5-157 to the Broncos (that gives the Jets the higher of Denver's two 7ths).

Yes. Neither pick is up anytime soon and the Jets are a group pick anyway.

I've got a bunch of WRs right in here, not so much for ILBs or QBs, unless they take the risk on Cardale Jones.

My highest ranked WR is Rashard Higgins, but Caroo is second.

I'm fine with Caroo. I'll vote Caroo as well.

I like Jayron Kearse, Clemson for the Jets. Big Safety/Nickel LB that could matchup with Gronk. Don't see a WR here that can get on the field for the Jets. Maybe a guy with return ability, but I don't see taking one this high.

Jets drafted their deep guy last year in Devin Smith. What they need is a slot WR who can come in and work the middle of the field while Marshall and Decker are working the flanks. I would say Carroo or Tajae Sharpe.

In retrospect though they need WR, ILB, and Safety. WR and Safety are still loaded with prospects in this draft with 3rd round guys likely dropping to the 5th. I change my vote to Schobert. They need to hit ILB before the well runs dry.

They already have their good route runners and sure hands guys. What they need is someone who can take the top off.
But they drafted Devin Smith last year. Hard to see Listenbee getting Smith off the field. If you go WR, needs to be someone with special teams ability.

Looking at his draft maybe they should.

Fine you like the players but the real question is for that team. Since Brady became starter the Patriots haven't given any thought to a 1st round QB. Heck they've been creeping up as he gets older - 3rd for Mallett was a serious break, then 2nd for Garoppolo.

Nobody ignores their roster when drafting, nor should they.

I vote for Rashard Higgins
Nobody goes pure BPA Baby!
Of course not. But if a player is rated half a round higher, that's enough for me.

PS Tex Schramm was MY favorite GM and Landry was MY favorite Coach growing up. Landry told Shramm to get him athletes and he would turn them into football players.

I do not ignore the roster, but I do seek bargains left because others are ignoring value and obsess with need.

But some people prefer the shine penny over the old worn out dollar bill.

You know, this hadn't crossed my mind. I'm sold on that, especially considering who they are in a division with. Buffalo likes to use the TE also, and Miami has a decent one. I change my vote to Kearse.

Looks like we could get jammed up here. The vote isn't very clear.

Caroo - 3 (TexansSeminole, The Pencil Neck, steelbtexan)
Kearse - 3 (bah007, JB, Lucky)
Higgins - 1 (Marshall)
Listenbee - 1 (mussop)
Schobert - 1 (WolverineFan)

You know I am fine with late round flyers so don't know why you quoted me.

In theory, looking at Kearse's measurements you would think he is a TE stopping machine and could stuff the run game at the LOS.

In reality, go watch the Alabama game. O.J. Howard annihilated him and he was the culprit on the Henry 50 yard TD run.

I'd have to rewatch to be sure but I remember T.J. Green being the one that Howard kept roasting.

And for sure, Kearse isn't as good against the run as you would think. But that's not what you draft him for IMO. He's a sub package player that comes in to play short zone or press man in passing situations.

Kearse was going to be one of my suggestions for us with the next pick. If we need a tie-breaker, I'll switch over to Kearse, but I do like Caroo.
