Texas sucks..

Ok, I see his side and yours. I'm on his side lol. Texas should be blowing this team out. USC is trash. Only thing they had last year was a pro qb. Texas should have beat them last year.

Meanwhile Maryland owns Texas past 2 yrs. Maryland.....averaged like 43 pts vs Texas past 2 years lol

Without a pro qb

Ok, I understand you, but none of that still has to do with my post... and UT IS blowing them out. I never mentioned Maryland or any other game. Perhaps you need to read my comment again

Outside of David Ash, Ehlinger is the best QB Texas has had in a decade, since Colt left. And all Texas fans do is trash him left and right. The guy is a sophomore running a pathetic offensive system with no identity or creative design by the coaches.

He did miss a wide open TD to Duvernay. He did throw a bad ball to Humphrey that should have been picked. That safety should have been called and he had time to get out but didn't. Three mistakes. Meanwhile, the WRs drop SEVEN passes and not a peep. Seven times a ball either hit a guy in the chest or hands and it wasn't caught. But the QB sucks...

Texas was 9/14 on third down when the ball was in Ehlinger's hands. 1/5 when we took it out of his hands.

After the first quarter the score was 34-0. And the only comment about that so far is that the offense's best playmaker sucks. Good lord.

Ok, UT suppose to win this game. He will not win a game a he isn't suppose to win. I'm going to bed

Like Kansas St last year?

He led a 91 yard TD drive against USC last year to take the lead with 45 seconds left. The defense promptly gave up 52 yards in three plays and the game went to OT instead. Yes, he fumbled in OT when we ran the same QB Draw two plays in a row on the goal line.

Led the offense to the 28 yard line with 2 seconds left against K St and we missed a FG and went to OT.

Took the lead against OU in the fourth quarter and then the defense gave it up in three plays. Then he got the concussion.

Beat West Virginia. Beat Missouri.

As a true freshman. On an offense with no OL and zero playmakers.

Dont like him bro

Regardless of playcalling or anything else, nothing is going to change until they get a QB. They haven't had one worth a **** going on a decade now. You can't compete in the offense-oriented Big 12 without one. Hell, today you can't compete in Division I football period without one.

It boggles my mind how a school like Texas given all of their resources and the talent in this state, doesn't have a blue-chip signal caller playing every year, while also having a highly touted recruit waiting in the wings to replace him.

UofH has even knocked UTs dick in the dirt when it comes to QB talent over the last decade and they were viewed not good enough to join the conference..and that's not even mentioning the other schools like T.T. and Baylor in conference. All of those school's have worked circles around the supposed state gem university in the QB department. This is and has been Texas' biggest problem.

Ehlinger is NOT a good QB.. he holds on to the ball way too long, isn't accurate at all, his release takes too long, and he's a HORRIBLE decision maker. He's a physical runner, but that's the only positive thing he has going for him.

Agreed, Ehlinger is way to up and down (inconsistent) to be at the helm of this team and Pee Wee Herman is not really in a position to make
a change at the moment. so stuck between a rock n hard place at the moment however they did look vs USC so let's see how they handle TCU
Saturday should be interesting

I'm still not sold on Ehlinger and want a upgrade.. but Texas' defense (secondary) is BADASS.. the best secondary I've seen since the title year and Earl Thomas.

The last Texas player to have 2 passing TDs and a rushing TD in back to back games was Colt McCoy ten years ago.

Ehlinger has now done it three games in a row.

Complete outlier..

His accuracy still sucks.

He's no Colt McCoy or VY.

He's the team's best playmaker. That's not an outlier. No he's not VY or Colt though.

But he's the best since. And Texas fans are too stupid to see it. Unreal how much bitching is going on about this kid. Best QB they've had in a decade and the majority of fans want him benched.

I dont want him benched, but I think this says more about the quality of QB play at UT over the last decade, than it does about how well Ehlinger is playing. Hopefully today's game will help him grow into the job. Atleast he didn't screw up with the game on the line today.

Well yeah, the bar has been set incredibly low over the past decade. But Ehlinger is playing winning football. And you can't go to any Texas site or talk to any Texas fan and hear even one positive thing about him. It's crazy. Not only has he grown into the job. He's the offense's best playmaker. The coaches put way too much on him. And he hasn't been screwing up. He's been making winning plays.

He had a miserable fourth quarter against Maryland. No doubt about it and there is no defending it. He was horrific at the end of that game.

But if you remove that one quarter of football from the season, he is completing over 61% of his passes for about 8 yards per attempt. He has 8 TDs and zero INTs, plus he's added 3 rushing TDs.

15 quarters of that against one quarter of bad football. I honestly cannot comprehend the overwhelming negative reaction to his overall play.

Texas is making OU their b!tch right now. Literally running over their DL

Is UT back?

Damn. Texas blew a big lead to OU.
Don't tell me they're going to lose now?
An hour ago it looked like a sure victory.

Ice-cold veins. What a kick!

Texas is going to win a thriller, 48-45!

This a signature win, they've had a few already.
Run the table. Texas will be in the final four playoffs.

Can Texas beat Alabama and win the National championship this year?

Can Texas really get into playoff with a loss to Maryland?

Texas not back. OU was exposed by Baylor and Army. OU for years hasn't had a Defense. OU would have to win out for Texas to have a chance. Texas would also need ND to lose. Lost of football left

Texas is trending upward for sure. Solid win.

If they keep beating ranked opponents (3-0), they'll be in, IMO.

Not a chance perhaps IF they didn't blow a commanding lead and had to rely on Dicker the kicker. I might have a different tune but the fact is I'm not impressed, so not only will Texas not be in the playoffs, They won't even win the Big 12 this year

So angry I had to miss this game. Sounds like a barn burner for the ages.

I think UT is officially back or close enough to it that we can expect that big surge to come soon.

Hookem!

Kentucky has seemingly only Georgia in early November to keep them from being at least in discussion. Still looks to me like Clemson and Alabama again.

I don't know, after watching years of the Oilers choking up big leads and always losing, I think it says something to give up a big lead but not allow that to shake you. They came up clutch that last drive. Most teams would have folded up at that point.

Herman just got too conservative when the lead was 21 points. If he would have allowed the offense to continue what they were doing OU wouldn't have come back. He should learn from that. BTW, OU's offense and the QB are incredible so them coming back didn't surprise me after I saw Herman getting conservative. You can't keep giving them chances like that.

That said, I don't think they will make the "playoffs". There are too many teams ahead of them for them to get one of those 4 spots IMO. If there were at least 8 spots (like I think there should be) then possibly.

Just win out and I think Texas will be in a great spot. That would be wins over ranked USC, TCU, and top 10 ranked OU and West Virginia, which could be top 5 by the time they play. Plus the 2018 Big 12 championship game on December 1, which would solidify that they're the real deal.

12-1 and beating all those ranked teams. I don't see how they'd be left out of the final four college football playoffs... I'd be willing to overlook a Week 1 loss at Maryland. A team that was emotionally invested and playing with heavy hearts to honor the death of one of their offensive lineman, Jordan McNair.

Only way Texas doesn't make it is if they lose a second game.
And even then I still think they can make a New Year's Bowl.

An undefeated Notre Dame probably knocks Texas out.

Four spots. A lot of these undefeated teams will lose a game. I even have almighty Alabama losing a game to either LSU or Auburn in November. Maybe even Mississippi State (underrated top 25 team), but more likely to lose at LSU on November 2.

People are too focused on all the undefeated teams.
It's not like all those teams will remain undefeated.

If Texas wins out they'll be in!

Also a shame that UCF is completely locked! They're still running undefeated since last season.

They do play Cincy and at South Florida the last two games. Currently both of them are ranked. #25 and #23. I could see Charlie Strong coaching his boys to a big home win the final game against a potentially undefeated UCF team that is likely ranked in or near the top 5 by then (#10 now). To help out his old stomping ground, Hook 'em, Charlie! LOL

College football's Week 7 AP poll is out:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Ohio State
4. Clemson
5. Notre Dame
6. West Virginia
7. Washington
8. Penn State
9. Texas
10. UCF

------------------------------------------

Texas moved up to #9 ahead of undefeated UCF.
And Texas still plays West Virginia.
There's still a lot of football left to be played.

If one loss Texas wins out and wins the Big 12 Conference.
They'll be ranked over an undefeated UCF team, IMO

I wouldn't worry about UCF at all.

If that happens then USF will probably be undefeated. The system is messed when you can run the table and still have no shot.

No, if USF beats UCF that will probably mean that USF will be undefeated. That’s a big rivalry game here now.

But, UCF beats USF and goes into the AAC Championship Game undefeated.....that makes them undefeated for 2 seasons in a row. They'll have to settle for another decent Bowl Game, where they beat the snot out of a Power 5 school.

#9 Texas and #6 West Virginia.

Oh my... That matchup on November 2 could be epic.

I hope both teams win every game until then.
They'll both be ranked a little higher than now.

No hiccups on either side. I want to watch a big-time game.
The winner of that game is "very much alive" for the Final Four CFP.

Sam Ehlinger now holds the Texas record for most pass attempts in a row without an interception.

Ehlinger now holds the Texas record for most total yards by a QB against Oklahoma.

He also became the first Texas player since Vince Young to throw for 2 TDs and run for 3 TDs in the same game.

It's too bad Texas can't seem to upgrade from this slow, inaccurate, indecisive player...
