Texans vs. Vikings - Gameday Thread

Damn.

I have a question, is this what the Oilers used to look like before they got sold to Tennessee?

I mean I'm not trying to compare them or relate them it's just a question.

No the Oilers actually went to the PLAYOFFS SEVEN STRAIGHT YEARS when I was a teenager. We actually had fun regular seasons and something to look forward to, though we would always get disappointed in the playoffs. The last time a Houston NFL team was in the playoffs was more than FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. I was an 18 year old college freshman. Let that marinate in your mind for a while. Looks like we are going to add another year to that inglorious streak.

To be honest, that game wasn't won/lost because of the OL. It was lost on boneheaded turnovers DESPITE bad OL play.

The Texans toughest opponent is themselves.

Or Schaub look alike... Atleast Sage can take a hit.

No seriously. They are pretty much the same QB from Q1-Q3 1/2. Cept Sage can stay healthy. But Sage is also the most anti-clutch player I've ever seen.

Fragile Matt or Retarded Sage. Can't go right either way.

Growing pains of a young team?

We obviously have a good thing here. MIN D is one of the top ones in the league. We need to stiffen up our D and learn to win.

Nothing much...nope not a all. *sigh*

Seriously where do we go from here, after beating the weaker terms, we either throw big games away or dont compete on the road.

is a new QB the answer or new coaching staff?

Isnt is illegal to horse coller even on a sack?
Isnt it illegal to go at a QB's knees?

This QB rivalry between fans is stupid! They are as about as equal as you can get. Neither one has a decisive advantage over the other.

Schaub moved the ball as well, he just fumbled it/ threw it away, If you didn't knew that then you haven't been watching. Just pointing it out. Oh yea, you see that pressure towards the end of the game on Sage? They put they much pressure on Schaub the whole 1st half. Its call sitting on the lead in the second half, thus Sage being productive with the pressure lessening.

Schaub did NOT MOVE THE BALL WELL........I don't even know how you can ask somebody if they "watched the game" and then type that.

Schaub was being beat to hell, was flustered, and was floating passes. Even though Sage couldn't come up with a drive in the final 2 minutes.....he still had the better half today. I mean the only damn points we put up when Schaub was in was by our defense.

Also the "They put they much pressure on Schaub the whole 1st half. Its call sitting on the lead in the second half" crap doesn't fly, because Minny was getting pressure on Schaub with their front 4...they weren't dialing up any blitzes..he was holding on to the ball way to long.....Rosenfels was getting the ball out or moving around and buying time.

Maybe we still got too much of the old blood (losing mindset) from the Capers era still in the organization.

It might be years before we cleanse that disease out of our ranks.

Exactly, where to we go from here?!? In comparison to the last 3 games, we looked like we played...perhaps 3/4 of the football game. Putting in Rosenfels- eh, didn't help, didn't hurt. Schaub will be better next week. He didn't look too happy on the sideline. What I wan to know, is when is the last road game we actually competed in and WON?!??? Seems like we just shut down. I was so nervous, upset, etc. i had to change the channel for about 5 minutes...came back hoping and praying that something positive had happened, and it was nothing other than a new vikings TD. :-(
This. Is. Bad.

There is just so much potential and talk of us reaching the playoffs possibly through a wildcard entry but we are not fulfilling it, which is the most frustrating part of it. grr

why the hell does cincinnatti make their uniforms even uglier on special days? Jesus they look like crossing guards.

I lost who said it, but
Good Gawd, I thought I was the only one who thought that! THANK YOU!!!!

Which is EXACTLY MY POINT, I'm not a Schaub guy or a Rosenfels guy.....I'm a texan fan, but if one of them clearly had a better day, I'm going to say Sage played better, because I'm unbiased, and Sage did play better.

If Schaub had the better day I would say........Schaub had the better day, but he didn't.

Anyways, I think it's becoming clear that neither one is the answer. Sage has the skills, but for whatever reason can't put it all together.......couldn't in Miami either....but he is a FANTASTIC backup.

Schaub might be the same guy, but whats even worse is.......HE CAN'T STAY FREAKING HEALTHY. He's the football equivalent of Tmac.

HOU and JAX battling it out for best Draft position......Who will win stay tuned for this marvelous bout we call the NFL.

Trade either Schaub or Rosenturnover for a 2nd round pick and get our QB of the future, sign a free agent like Garcia for starter/backup, and please improve the secondary.

Like I said, the only difference between Schaub and Sage today was the injury, which counts for alot of the reason why Schaub couldn't move around or his lack of strength on his ball thrown. He was moving the ball for our team(minus TO) he was 11/16 for 150 yards or something around that. He got us downfield and in position to score on one series with the injury and went into their territoy acouple of times. He was moving the ball when he had time in the pocket, which was pretty much almost never.

Again like I said, the only difference was the injury which Schaub played with since the end of 1st Q.

They're the same QB form Q1-Q3 1/2. Only thing that serperate them is the mental weakness of Sage, and the.... well just Schaub being weak.

I am so glad we don't have to worry about the pressure of a 5 game win streak. That has never been done before by a texans team. Wheeeeeeeewwww

Schuab is our QB of the future.

I would trade our first rounder for a competent d-coordinator though

Who's going to take a 2nd round pick for them........should've jumped on the 3rd rounder when we had the chance for Rosenfels and.....

Schaub's value is plummeting, becuase it's clear he's never going to be able to survive a 16 game season. He's "Chris Chandelier" part 2

We couldn't get powdered gatorade for either of the two.
One is soft, the other is mentally challenged both are turnover prone.

Schaub was having trouble before the injury......he couldn't even get it to AJ.

This is true, but I don't know of many folks who enjoy always being in the hole....whether it be games, or cash....or in case of the NFL, both!! haha....sounded funny to my lil blonde brain! (another haha there too. I'll just shut up for now and get another beer.)

I hate losing more than anything, but I've always stood by them, so here we go....

GO TEXANS!!!

:fans:

Nope he's not. If we take up that option in the off-season, then it'll be the same stupid mistake we made when we took up Carr's option.

Pathetic, we spent a 1st overall pick on a QB, 2 2nd rounders on his processor, and we still can't get a damn QB that's decent enough to lead our team. This is just sad.

What could a healthy Schaub have done that last half of the 4th qtr better than Sage? It wasnt Sages fault the LT false starts and it wasnt his fault our OL caved either. There was nothing either could of done differently in that situation.

Matt is great when he doesn't have an ouchie.

Sage is great when he doesn't throw the double covered completely blanketed guy.

Schaub can play when he gets good protection.

I've been screaming that since the beginning of the season. We need to quit spending all the big $$ on the ''playmakers". Without a good, strong, and soldi O Line, the entire offense is worthless. We may have been ranked 4th coming into this game, but one must look at the teams we played. This has been brought up time and time again on the boards. What does it take for the coaching staff to realize tha??? I'm tired of everyone black balling schaub. I like him, and I like Rosenfels. But the simple point is that NO QB can work magic if he doesn't have the time in which to execute it. We've got guys that have been on the team since its inception, and I am very fond of them! ...But, we have to look at what the goal is- do we want to have fun and lose, or do we want to have fun and win?

Where do we go from here off the top of my head

-Fire Richard Smith clean house on some of the lower ranking coaching staff keep Kubes and shannhan of course

-"""If""" healthy I guess see how old Matty can do this season

- Switch some players up on your special teams blocking

-I thought the O line played Pretty poor today maybe its time 2 do more switching around they blocked but they didnt finish keep the oppent from during after the whistle Cheap shots also the snapper cracked under pressure apperently he is anti clutch has well

- I think Its time for old Turk To hang up them boots maybe get a good punter in the Draft i could see that

- the Dline was solid the did there job all day the secondary has u all know needs to be CLEANED HOUSE !!!!!!

-also maybe its time to thicken our playbook a little that two sided sheet that kubes gots maybe he should add a couple more sheets a wildcat sheet maybe LOL also the communcation along the side lines was not good again today not playing in a no huddle tape on your helmet plzzzz

so far this season all we've proved is we can beat the really bad teams, but not the mediocre or above teams.

The Texans had a chance to score at least two maybe even three more times in the redzone and what did they do turn the football over. Did they stop AP? Not for the whole game. JA owned our OL. Where was the pass blocking? Although they did play better for Sage in the second half but still not good enough and that's why Matt got hurt in the first place and didn't come back into the game after halftime. Am I sticking up for Matt? No way he did not have a great game today either even though I know that he got hurt early as he threw an INT well inside Viking territory but our OL was still way overpowerd by their DL and our beloved AJ was just taken out of this game today by their secondary I have to say well done on AJ. Sage did throw a very dumb pass for an INT. Where was our seondary today? I thought we're ranked 16th in pass defence I bet we won't be after this game because we sure did not act like we were today out there on that football field. Three words fix that secondary. Lets get the job done next Sunday at home against those darn Ravens for our fourth win of this season. Thank you.
