Texans Vs Saints Gameday Thread

OK. Well. That's pretty much a kick in the grapes.

No point in leaving 1st teamers in...they've been scrimmaging against these guys all week and are taking today off, so you might as well put in all the backups now.

I just got home from work and found the live feed. Either the Saints are really good or we are really bad tonight...or both.

yes.

Holliday is not.
Foster is good.
1st string defense is skeered to play.
Brees channels himself through the backup QB's
Rackers bounces one in off the cross bar.

That's about all you've missed.

I prefer to look at the positives. We now know that Holliday doesn't need a roster spot, and we confirmed we do have some starter-quality talent at RB. We also know that Dreesen can continue to be a solid TE and (with one glaring exception) I thought the RBs did a good job of picking up blitzers.

Because I'm focusing on the positives, I can't really say anything about the defense.

well, I only recall KJ thrown to a couple of times, and both time WR's denied - so there's a defensive positive

Saints outgained Houston 275-138 in total offense, ran a staggering 47 plays to Houston's 17. Saints also owned a 21:25-8:35 advantage over Houston in time of possession.

We're aren't "there" yet.

this is the same Saints team that didn't lose a game last year until week 15

last year, we didn't get back to 0.500 until week 15.

any questions?

I've been trying to tell myself that it's only preseason and it doesn't mean anything, but that's hard as hell to digest when these bozos can't even tackle someone. That's a basic football fundamental, regardless of how vanilla you're playing with schemes. Pretty depressing after our performance last week. Hopefully this will be the kick in the taint they need to realize that they still have a long way to go.
Trindon better be cut after the preseason. His question marks outweigh his "blazing fast" speed. What good is the kid's speed if he can't use it? On a side not, I called the fumble right before it happened. I told the wife, "watch, he's gonna fumble this punt" and BAM!....dude fumbled. He's not NFL material at all.

Get your head right and play some damn football boys!

Glad to hear that Foster is continuing to impress everyone. I guess Dreesen isn't blocking well? Also, I wanted Trindon Holliday to make the roster so bad but I'm guessing he was the one who muffed the punt.

It seems like we go through this every year. We start out sucking, then eventually sort things out and become okay. Let's just hope they do it and it doesn't take til week 4 again this year.

I'm hoping we're getting the Jets game out of our system early and will be ready to play week 1. That's what I am going to be desperately hanging on at least.

Yeah. Where is the "improved" squad?
Every year, this team gets shellacked by the
consensus "good" teams in preseason, and
it carries over to the 1st 12 games of the
next season. 5-7 start.

What can we expect from 2010?

I think Kubiak wanted to punch Bob Allen to get some frustration out - not a happy camper. 2's about to play

I came home expecting to be losing this game, honestly. I am a bit disappointed in the defense's performance so far, though. They looked so good last week. This isn't a "omg the sky is falling" moment for me, though. It's preseason. Maybe its just a bad day.

hard for me to guage this game.....have a younger sister over with me and my 4 year old for the weekend...so have been in and out of the game....i did watch the 1st Q all the way through though.

"it's just pre-season".......as Ozzie guillen would say...."psst please"

i know holliday effed up and gave away that 2nd TD...but still...either the Texans pee-pees shrank or the Cards are absolute crapola.

sorry...not chalking this up to "it's just pre-season".....ummmm...all those guys should have learned their lesson when they saw A. Peterson tear us up last year in the P. Season and then that continue to be a trend in the reg. season.

Not trying to act like all is lost no........but......not excited about what i have seen......we left how many #1's in there and still got ate up...

WTF????

all i'm gonna say for now,.,....

still got playoffs on my mind this year!!!!

GO TEXANS!!!!!
