TEXANS -vs- JETS Gameday thread

too many kids in the secondary and our undersized line is trying to stand up the defense instead of chopping them down for space. lil shanahan needs to grow up or else kubiak needs to take away his toys.

I am so embarrassed. I spent the entire offseason with high expectations, talking up all my Cowboy friends how this was the Texans year.. and this is how they start the season?

I'm extremely disappointed. We as fans deserve better than this.

Starting off 0-1. We didn't lose on our defense really. It's all on that offense that couldn't get a damn thing done. Shame. Going to be a long ass week.
 
I don't know why people though the jet's wouldn't be this good.

A great offensive line, speedy shifty backs, a QB that has football knowledge(when to get rid of the football)

A great defense that puts pressure on the QB this team (the Jets) easy could be in the wildcard hunt this year

I'm glad they didn't have a true #1 WR to add insult to injury
 
I didn't mind if they lost. But they flat out EMBARRASSED us as fans today.
They'd better be practicing and looking at film tomorrow.
 
We miss K-Dub's blocking more than anything.
I didn't know that white boy was that important to this team
 
this game proves that we are clearly getting out coached on every side of the ball... let start over i say... would make me feel better about it.. kubiak isnt a head coach hes a coorinator
 
How long can Johnson take these kind of games before he wants out!

Tennessee next week is a huge game now!
 
well, i'm officially done for now....i'll chime in later on maybe today or tomorrow when all the threads start up and we all start throwing feces...lol,.....jk

Johnson will start to want out soon if this keeps up.

Based on what i saw from the titans thursday night and what we did today....i may just skip that game. i'll have my daughter next weekend and don't want to ruin it.

so teams with defensive lines the Texans will lose too

We seriously need to upgrade the Center position screw quick and agile. We need somebody who won't get blown off the ball every play and end up in Shaubs lap

Our O-line is terrible, our secondary is terrible, our coaching staff was terrible today as well.

Ain't it great that we drafted 2 TE's when we already had a probowl TE, they looked really good on the bench. We sure could have used those picks for some O-line and Safety starter/depth.

IMO when the D has a Jolly Green Giant lined up against Myers our O will shut down. He can NOT handle the point of attack. Once he starts getting help, instead of being the helper, it is down hill from there. I blame this game entirely on the OL.

As a direct result, the D that started off on fire tired and shut down. Our High Octane offense was reduced to nothing. Had we been able to win the OL battle in the trenches this game comes out different.

I say there is slight hope that we can handle the TEN DL since they are a 4-3 team...BUT they have a ton of good DL that will be coming in waves at us.
 
The beer helps. After about a 6 pack I didnt care that we were getting throttled.

Obviously our offense is not capable of scoring points on a good 3-4 defense. Remember this the next time the Texans are favored against one when visiting Vegas.

Even if the Texans do make the playoffs, they will have to face the jets, ravens, patriots, or steelers 3-4 defense. So dont even think about printing off playoff tickets until they start winning games against this defense.
 
The Texans were destroyed in humiliating fashion. That is the bad news. The good news is my survivor team in the Last Man Standing league made it!
 
Questions:

1. At this point in our history (and this franchise is so longer new), why the *&(^ is Myers starting at center, especially against any 3-4 D?

2. We could have run today using 2 TEs and chose not to. I like Vontae Leach, but you gotta do what works. Why didn't we?

3. Not that I blame the D for this game, but why don't they disguise plays more? I know that the LBs are not quite so retarted obvious as with Richard Smith, but where are the stunts and why do we have DLinemen showing an obvious overkill on one side of the ball, giving away both that we are going to blitz and exactly how, who, and where?

4. Why do DLinemen make spin moves without actually moving an inch and then go right back into the blocker as if they never spun at all? Why bother waisting time spinning if you're going to wind up standing in the same freaking place? I see this crap way too often.

5. Anybody wanna scrap the zone blocking scheme right about now? OK, next offseason?

6. Could our 2nd year D have shut this offense down by blitzing on almost every play? That's pretty pathetic.

7. Blitz. Pass play. You're a CB. Your receiver is trying to run right by you. Do you cover him and stay back....or let him run right by you because you're worried about a short pass to some other (possibly phantom) player that you're not even responsible for....like an *****?

It was pretty much a worse ass-kicking than Rex gave us last year.
 
There is enough blame to go around, but like a poster said earlier, its just 1 game. I have some thoughts that may be as clear as day, but I will say them anyway.

I saw a dc attack protections. Really good dc people, they understand the o line as well as o line people. Ryans overloaded at will against a smaller line and a immobile qb. Of course it doesn't help when Jenkins, who is a probowler, is man handling the center causing the prrotection to turn and open up that overload.

A defense that didn't adjust. Everytime sanchez was in trouble or 3rd down, it was washington or keller. To allow a rookie qb come in and basically do what he did on 3 rd down is inexcusable. Anyone watching the game saw his 1st read to washington then 2nd to keller. Just as ryans saw with pressure that he could sit on hot routes, the texans would bring heat, but didn't make sanchez get to his 3rd read.

Just a piss poor game, but its only 1 game. They contained the run until the 4th qt and the offense did zilch today. Sometimes its not your day, but in football, you only get a few of those.

They have less of a D then the Ravens last year, but an better offense then the Ravens. Keller > Heap Cotch > Mason and so on
 
A few bright spots:

1. Matt Schaub took a BEATING and managed to walk off the field on his own power.

2. This D CAN stop the run, but not after 3.5 Qtrs. of being on the field constantly.

3. Our D may hurt more QBs this year than the # of sacks it gets. Actually, that's a bad thing, but it'll be fun to watch.

4. The fact that there were 3 good things. :cool:

I dont understand what the problem is. How do you go from #3 offense or whatever last year, to laying a goose egg at home? Why does Houston have such a hex on them that a quality team is unattainable.

So our weaknesses. Safety (Still). Offensive line.(Still). Maybe we should focus on those 2 with trades, FA, or the draft. Sounds like the last x years needs.
