Texans vs Dolphins game day thread

The trouble with Mcdaniels is his record against winning teams as a HC. I think he’s a top notch OC but he’s going to have to get over the “can only beat bad teams” stigma.

I don’t see the Dolphins firing him this offseason. But if they are .500 or worse next season and still can’t find a way to beat winning teams then he’ll be given his walking papers.

That being said, I don’t think he’ll be an OC if he does get fired. I think he’ll get another HC opportunity.
"Only beating bad teams" is still an improvement here.

I still don't count the "bad teams" on the schedule as a W until it happens.

Would be nice to count the Ws before they happen.

The Texans have a much better defense than the Ravens. They aren't better than the Dolphins defense IMHO. Last yrs Ravens defense was much better than this yrs defense IMHO.
The Dolphins are second to last in Qb pressures and sacks and yet our offensive line made them appear better than that. As far as complete defense perhaps you are right but our Texans offensive line has to get much better if we are to be any kind of threat going forward. Also, can our defense generate the kind of pressure next week we did today against a Dolphins team missing their two starting offensive tackles?

I’ve got to rewatch the game, but thought OL was better on the edges. Interior still a weakness but Peterson has worked hard. Guards are just too slow, lack explosiveness, just space eaters.

Are you talking about bringing in Mcdaniels to be HC over Ryans? That will never happen and I would rank Ryans over Mcdaniels as a HC at this point in time.

Sure, these Texans keep it close regardless of opponent but the Ryans teams have a better record against winning teams than Mcdaniels’ Dolphins.

Thoughts are with Grant DuBose, in a stable condition in hospital with a head injury apparently. It’s a tough game and always horrible to see a nasty injury like that.
Precautions made the aftermath look worse than it was. The backboard and neck brace were to stabilize neck vertebrae in case of spinal injury................and removal of jersey and pads were to gain wide access for evaluation and in case emergency treatment was needed. BUT, I find it curious that his helmet was removed. An injured football player's helmet should not be removed if a cervical spine injury is suspected, as further movement can worsen the injury. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and other sports medicine entities advise that, as a general practice, only the face mask should be removed from the helmet, and the football helmet should remain on the athlete's head.

No, but if he comes in at OC it would be an improvement over keeping bad teams in it til a last second FG.

I've come to accept that good or bad Meco is the next OB in terms of how long he will be here. I just hope for better results
