Right. What benefit? I said it will take him some time to build that confidence back up. That’s if he’s not at the point of no return like Carr was.
Fingers crossed.

When the season started, how many penalties did the offensive line have that stalled drives? No OC’s play calling is perfect. That’s a straw man. However, Joe Mixon has never looked as good in his career as he does here. So it’s not all terrible as Bobby is doing something right. Stroud isn’t being asked to do as much now, so what I have realized is his miscues loom larger because it’s a more balanced offensive attack. Last year Stroud could throw us out of 2 and 20 etc. He isn’t being asked to do that now.
They go hand in hand IMHO.You think Stroud missing throws is why people are critiquing the OC?
Many complained about this extension IIRC.No surprise

Texans Wire Player of the Game: RB Joe Mixon
When the Houston Texans traded for Joe Mixon this offseason, many figured he'd be around for a one-year deal. When the Texans inked him to a new three-year extension, there were some concerns. Most running backs dwindle with age, leading to regressiosports.yahoo.com

I believe this is true. But it still doesn't explain why he's missing easy throws that he was making last year.Last year and this year are two different things. Teams had tape on him going into this year.
Not at all, but you can say this about any team in the NFL OC.A lot of his play calling does suck. You’re acting like nobody shouldn’t criticize or question some his terrible play calling.
There was certainly a miscommunication between Scruggs and Patterson. I don't know who was wrong on that play. What I do know is Scruggs isn't very smart or very good.Wasn't his guy.. Scruggs messed up.
I will just say this.Well Burrow has shaken it off after being crushed for a few years. He has time and you can tell his confidence is back.

The Panthers had to bench Young and rightfully so. He was way off and now he’s playing much better. The Texans and CJ isn’t at that point yet.
Man Mills never was good, dude couldn’t hit an easy 5 yards out route to save his life.
Defense is playing well despite not being healthy.I love me some Joe!
Glad to see Nico back! He’s still #17 with only 6 games played!
Defense isn’t perfect but man they give offensive coordinators nightmares!
Post 44.How can you possibly know this.?
Serious question, has any NFL quarterback had a good rookie year then a not so good sophomore year and then had a good career? If he ever comes back. Many talented QBs come into the league take a few shots & are never the same again. Do you think Bryce Young will ever regain the form that made him the #1 overall pick? Do you think Davis Mills will ever be that guy he was as a rookie?
Or is Cj Stroud the only one given the benefit of the doubt?
I'm rooting for the kid, but it's not a forgone conclusion.
Interesting notes on the snap counts:
1) White/To’o To’o appear to be platooning as second LB. With White earning a larger snap share.
2) Murray/Ward are now platooning at safety. Bullock has ascended to the top safety on the roster with 100% snap share.
3) Hunter (and WA when he returns) are going to get 70% plus snaps per game. They are the engine that drive the defense and make everyone else’s job easier.
4) They don’t trust anyone but Mixon at RB. He’s a true bell cow. Well, they’ll trust Dare on 3rd down but everyone knows the play call when Dare is in the game.
5) Metchie is slowly gaining trust and assuming the Diggs role. Albeit a year early. He’ll be getting those snaps.

Texans-Cowboys Week 11: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts
That's more like the Houston Texans fans expected to see in 2024. Behind a three-touchdown performance from running back Joe Mixon, the Texans secured bragging rights in the Lone Star State with a 34-10 victory over the Dalltexanswire.usatoday.com
Just my two cents..Just for clarification
Platooning = plateauing?

Platooning is when you have multiple people playing at a position with none of them as the "primary" guy.
That is optimistic. I would think it would take some off time. Time to step back, relax & get away from the grind. I wouldn't even think the short bye week be enough to let go of whatever baggage is dragging him down.I'm an optimist, so I think in a couple of more games he will have his mojo back and be playing well come playoff time
How does Burrow fit into this? Burrow was a beast when he was the most sacked QB & got to the Super Bowl.Burrow is special.
Watching him this week… whooooooo! Burrow is a -tough- SOB. He’d perform better with our mushy middle. That is optimistic. I would think it would take some off time. He sukd the year after & is recovering now.
Bengals eat $70 million dead money..Watching him this week… whooooooo! Burrow is a -tough- SOB. He’d perform better with our mushy middle.
Mmmmmmmm… now that I think of it…
I don’t think Burrow’s happy in Cincinnati and I don’t think Stroud would be too peeved if he were to return to Ohio.
It would be helpful if targets were included but I'm still maintaining that the running backs should be getting more targets.
You can't navigate a collapsing pocketIt is his job to navigate in it whether it’s clean or not
Last year and this year are two different things. Teams had tape on him going into this year.
This just makes you scratch your head and say WTH. I wished someone would ask the coaches what is the blocking assignment against that front? Exactly what would make Patterson totally ignore someone that's not lined up directly over the center. There has to be a reason besides brain cramp. Right?
You can't navigate a collapsing pocket
The only time Burrow has sucked is when he's played injured. Guys what we hope C.J. can become. That is optimistic. I would think it would take some off time. He had a pocket to step up into Monday night for the most part. I thought the OL played fairly well. Much better with Patterson at center, Mason had his best game so far this yr. IMHOYou can't navigate a collapsing pocket
Maybe because of throws like the bad throw to Collins that resulted in the int on the over route. That's a throw Stroud consistently made last yr. Also did y'all see how open Dare was on that play?At least some folks are seeing it as well. CJ has had a lot of balls batted this season. This means defenders are getting far too close….didn’t equal a sack or QB hit, but it did disrupt throwing lane.
Slowick has a top notch runner to utilize the PA to benefit CJ by giving him a moving pocket. Within this PA frame work, he doesn’t take advantage of the seam routes or middle of the field enough.
Exactly. Guys are getting open.Maybe because of throws like the bad throw to Collins that resulted in the int on the over route. That's a throw Stroud consistently made last yr. Also did y'all see how open Dare was on that play?
I'm elated that we won, but rewatching... offense still looked pretty anemic in the 2nd half. Hopefully that offensive TD gets us off the schneid & we start blowing doors off teams the defense holds to 10 points.![]()

I think this year’s Texans is a defensive football team. The “five headed monster” we heard about all offseason is limited by the OL and teams catching up to Slowik/Stroud.I'm elated that we won, but rewatching... offense still looked pretty anemic in the 2nd half. The offense has the ability to improve over the next 7 weeks. Maybe not to an elite level but good enough to put up 24-27 points.I think this year’s Texans is a defensive football team. But the defense has been elite no matter who is out.
