Well, the good guys won. The Texans own the Saturday early wild card game slot. 32-12 their most complete game against a winning team played all season!
What went well:
1) Team effort. I am so proud of this team. They make mistakes sure. Lots of times awful mistakes. But they don’t give up. There were plenty of self-inflicted mistakes today but there was also big plays made by a variety of players to counterbalance those mistakes. They did not play a classic “clean” football game. But they created chaos every play and the Chargers just couldn’t keep up. They SWARMED and drowned the Chargers!!!
2) CJ got his mojo back! I said before the game that this was going to come down to which QB would put on his cape and make the plays needed to win. We saw CJ do just that today. He made some mistakes of course… but he also made some big time plays with his arm and legs against the #1 scoring defense in the league. It’s good to see good CJ back in time for the playoffs!
3) Elite defense and special teams. Those two things travel in the playoffs. And they were rewarded by a running game that finally emerged in the 4th quarter when the opposing defense was worn out because the good guys kept making stops. The team we saw today can beat anybody. Warts and all.
What did not go well:
1) Penalties. Same story as all season. Undisciplined unforced errors. Kind of goes with the relentless playing style. Would like to avoid the holding and tripping penalties though Tytus!
