Texans random thought of the day

That's why he's here on short deal for low $$$, If Tomlinson can't hack it, someone else will have to step up. That's what I like about this year vs. last year. The Texans have thrown enough viable bodies at the o-line that no one guy has to come through. Everyone is replaceable, if necessary.
I just hope they dont pull another Kenyon Green and play Tomlinson even if he's playing poorly.

Joe Mixon is sued over March 2023 shooting on his property

Published August 5, 2023 02:38 PM

Bengals running back Joe Mixon was not criminally charged for a shooting that occurred on his property earlier this year. But he has been civilly sued.

Via Ben Baby of ESPN.com, the family of a teenage boy who was shot in Mixon’s backyard in March has sued Mixon and Lamonte Brewer.

Brewer was the alleged shooter. Mixon allegedly supplied the ammunition for the Zavasta M92 gun that was used in the shooting.

The boy was shot while playing “Nerf Wars,” a game played by high-school students in Cincinnati. People in Mixon’s home became concerned that the boy had an actual gun. The lawsuit contends that their fears were unfounded.

Brewer ultimately was charged with felonious assault, one count of tampering with evidence, and two counts of having weapons while under disability. Shalonda Mixon, Joe’s sister, was charged with tampering with evidence.

The boy’s family lived next door to Mixon. They have since sold their house because, per the lawsuit, they did not feel safe living there. Per county records, the family sold the home for $2.175 million.

Hey Cloak via ESPN wup with no reported injury wound reports

If Dallas offered you Tyler Booker straight up for Higgins prior to either playing a snap of pro football, do you make that deal? This is for anyone.
Not a Booker fan, so no. There were linemen in the draft I would trade Higgins for, though.

What if Minn offered you D Jackson for Higgins? Again for anyone.

Laken T was a bottom 5 guard per PFF.

This is just an offseason what if game. Just for conversation. Which is more important - solving LG or a solid #2 next to Nico?

We need a LG but not for Higgins. Vikings drafted Jackson for a need.

I would pick Jackson over Higgins.

Jackson is going to be a 10 yr starter.

I love the Higgins pick though.

My preference if Jackson had fallen. 1. Jackson 2. Ersery 3. Noel 4. Thornton. 4. Brashard Smith

Jackson didn't fall so this is a moot point. I'm very happy with the 2025 Texans draft.

I'm generally happy with the draft, except the failure to address guard. If Laken T can be somewhere near average...this will be a moot discussion. They can draft/sign a LG next offseason.

But if he's bad, and it leads to a lot of shuffling of the line, leads to CJ under pressure to often, and/or a lackluster run game...we will be revisiting this off-season and the choices made all throughout this coming season.

Let's recap - they signed nothing but other teams' hand-me-down castoffs in FA and didn't address Guard at all in the draft. Instead they drafted a tackle for the 2nd year in a row. They have yet to draft an interior lineman in the NC era that can play. Check that. They have yet to draft ANY lineman that can play worth a damn in the NC era.

This decision stands as the biggest potential WTF and what if of the 2025 season. You know it. I know it. The American people know it. And Nick and Meco sure as hell know it.

This is on them and if this line blows the team up, it could blow it up big and completely derail the season. One ill-timed hit on CJ due to a crappy o-line and it's lights out 2025.

Above is worst case...but let's not kid ourselves. This line is the engine that will drive this train.

I'm mystified by the inattention given to the oline by the present Texans administration.

I agree 100%! I am okay with Ersery and the rest of the draft. However, I'm not excited about the cast offs at guard that you mentioned. I give Nick kudos for what he has done in the draft but also if the left guard fails or even if Tytus can't do the job at Right Guard the onus is on Nick. Not that that means anything of course.

I think people are hopeful. I am too. I think casting off Tunsil was the best move of the offseason. I think tackle will be better. More like hope and pray! the interior is a giant question mark to me. I do think this line will be more junkyard dog then its been since Tunsil’s arrival. That alone will help…still I see some lingering questions.

I'm glad they Texans prioritized talent over need & got the guys they wanted when they wanted.

Eh... I think the bar is pretty low for him. Meaning if Patterson or Scruggs beats him (& we're hoping one if not both) then we've got a bonafide starter.
