Texans random thought of the day

Who are the criminals on what is to be the projected final 53 for the Houston Texans?
I would say Mixon/Edwards for sure wouldn't be Texans if Bob still owned the team. Probably not Al Shaair and they certainly wouldn't be working out Arnette.

The last paragraph, the answer is I dont like to deal with POS like DM and those of his minions. No I dont believe in sweeping the people that helped Derrick sexually assault women under the rug. But hey maybe that's just me and you dont have a problem with these kinds of people. So I guess we're just different kinds of people and we'll have to agree to disagree on this.
DM is Watson's agent, in other words known as lawyer. It's his job to protect his client's interest.

Is it his job, or those around him to help his client get away with sexual assault? Actually setup laces for these sexual assaults to occur?

Well why aren’t you mad at the Texans brass in general because they aided in his trash as well. These organizations know exactly what these guys are doing. And yet they gave him this massive contract any freaking ways. But hey let’s only focus in on one particular party right.

This iisn't Bob/Janice McNir's Texans anymore, thank God.

If dude can play at a high level then sign me up. No big deall about the gun charges, dont know the details on the assault charges and are we going to run the org like the champions the Chiefs are or are we going back to the Bob/Janice school of Sunday School class methods of running the franchise? Bottom line is can the guy play? If so then sign him up, he was unimpressive with the Raiders although he's got talent. How's he looked with the Roughriders?

Obviously not.
What is the point of building a culture if you don't "use" it to bring in lower character people to keep them in line? I not saying whether we should sign him or not. It's not a culture, if you have to bring in exclusively guys that fit the bill. IMO good to see that players that can play aren't automatically excluded, but good to see they gave Derrick the heave-ho.

Quite unimpressive thus far in his career. In addition to being too cocky, he has has run ins with the law already on 3 occasions.............leaving the scene of an accident............and multiple gun charges................and assault charges incident.

**

I’m not expecting him to be signed. Especially after Ward’s recent arrest (bad look PR wise imo).

But even if he were… I wouldn’t expect him to be any more than a camp body. He was overdrafted as a prospect and couldn’t get/stay on the field when he wasn’t in trouble off the field.

Myles Bryant was a UDFA in Arnette’s draft class. And I would not expect Arnette to beat out Bryant given what they’ve put on film. And Bryant is more a back end roster guy.

I don’t think he’ll be in the league much longer if he even makes it through camp with the Browns.

"I was checked out mentally," he continued. "I was like whatever happens happens. I was just rolling with the pucnhes at that time. So I told them I wasn't going in. I understand what you're saying, but I'm not gonna go in. So I just sat on the bench. And that's when they suspended me.

When he came back from suspension, he asked to be released because he knew he was going to be in the doghouse. Then he signed with the Texans, but checked out again when other younger players played over him. When he tried to talk to coach DeMeco Ryan, he said he was called a distraction and they cut him.

If this kid has gotten his head screwed on straight, he could end up being a great addition. All the talent in the world, but mental/drug/legal issues.
I know my comment kind of came off like I'm criticizing the organization, but I agree with the signing.

I'm actually in favor of the signing, as long as we don't "depend" on him to be a major contributor. CB3 behind our slot corners? I don't think that too much of an investment. The best organizations take on "problem" guys from time to time.

I made the post as a callback to the old Matt Schaub "Texans worthy" thing. I never really bought into that thing.

This isn't Bob/Janice McMair's Texans.

They're doing what winning teams do, sign/draft and play the best players.

I didn't think you said anything wrong at all. Quite the opposite. It's nice to see the Texans taking a chance on another chance player who has issues. Big change from the early years.

One thing I’ve appreciated is they’ll give these kinds of guys a chance and if it doesn’t work they let them go quietly in the night. As an organization we don’t drag them any further we just let them go and say, “it didn’t work out” and never give in to distractions or excuses.

Who was the LG?
The video I referred to was posted by Texans baller 74. No Center in view in front of Stroud. He received the ball and the player in the left guard position was the blocker I referred to. I can only make out the 7 in his number. The video is there for your review.

If you hit the pause button and drag it slowly you can see the play unfold just not all the numbers. At the snap, the OC is completely out of view but you can see a glimpse of the left side of the LG and Cam Robinson (74) playing OT. Cam takes on Danielle Hunter and gives him off to the LG as soon as Tim Settle comes over in the stunt with Hunter. You can see the LG almost bear hugging Hunter and Robinson battling Settle as CJ maneuvers to throw the pass.

That's what I saw. Look like a good play. Hope it continues into regular season. At least our offensive line is going up against a great defensive unit in training camp.

How hungry are we for football when there is a Zapruder-like breakdown of a mini-camp video tweet? July 23rd can't get here soon enough.

I'm worried about Tomlinson, he hasn't been very good the last couple of yrs.
That's why he's here on short deal for low $$$, If Tomlinson can't hack it, someone else will have to step up. That's what I like about this year vs. last year. The Texans have thrown enough viable bodies at the o-line that no one guy has to come through. Everyone is replaceable, if necessary.

I expect us to look hard at both guard positions in the 2026 draft no matter what happens this season. Just a reminder, Nick the Master Trader has a round one, two round twos, a round three and two round fours in 2026 top 150~.

If Dallas offered you Tyler Booker straight up for Higgins prior to either playing a snap of pro football, do you make that deal? This is for anyone.

I had Booker and Banks as my first round choices however I have warmed up to Higgins. I think we will have a set Ol by game one that should be better than last year. I like what BadBoy said about 2026 and will be looking for my three to four OL to put on my mock.
