Texans random thought of the day

I think part of the NFL game for fans is to know about injuries. You don't have to be able do anything but it is part of the game experience for many of us.

As with our interactions on this message board, it does not impact the game but it is part of the NFL experience
 
Jettisoning the cornerstone left tackle (which I agreed with at the time), with a quarterback that may or may not be banged up starting the season, doesn't look as good now as it did then. As much as I hated his dumbassery, Tunsil did a good job protecting Stroud. He allowed two sacks last season. Robinson gave up 7. Tunsil had 19 penalties (6 in one game), Robinson 13.

If the Texans have an Achilles heel, it's protecting the QB. We all know where the Texans ranked last year in sacks allowed, and as much as it pains me, Tunsil wasn't the problem.
 
Tunsil may not have been directly responsible for Stroud getting hit but how many times did his damn penalties put the Texans in an obvious passing situation that resulted in a QB hit? Tunsil had 17 penalties for 95 yards. The next closest Texan had 5.

The NFL is in bed with the betting industry. The disclosure or nondisclosure of injuries has a definite impact.
 
Y’all dont care that our franchise QB may have a either a degenerative condition, or an injury that is likely to reoccur? Forget about the betting/fantasy side. CJ is the freaking franchise guys? This isnt the 4th string corner. I cant believe how absolutely blase and non-plussed many of you are.

I get the context. This is the toy box of life, not world peace or a nuclear arms treary…but within the context that we love our football team, and we are passionate dedicated fans..lthis is bright red alarm, building on fire and could collapse get out now territory….but its ok because dont go by what you see or hear… the superintendent says its only burnt popcorn in the microwave.

I care about a potential injury, I just don't see how my knowing or not knowing about it changes or impacts ANYTHING. The information being out there or not makes exactly ZERO difference on the actual situation

The injury report is purely for betting odds and teams play a lot of games with it. There is no competitive advantage in accurately reporting injuries. The Pats were notorious for playing with the injury report and we're still basically NE South.
 
For me it's the silliness of them acting like nothing was wrong for the first couple of days. Of course they knew everybody would notice Stroud was not throwing so instead of just saying he has a little soreness and we are being extra careful they tried to act like it was all part of their plan. It is almost as if they wanted it to become a story.

If they wanted to avoid all the noise why didn't Stroud just skip OTAs altogether since it was voluntary?

Whether that is an outside sports injury, unreported car accident, or offseason surgery that I do not know. But it is definitely possible for all the above to be true and one to be almost a lie but technically not.

For me, I am going to trust Demico on this until we see that it is more of a problem than he says it is. We always have people saying trust the coaches. So I am..

Wasn't much that could be done about it in this last draft anyway.

You don’t know the meaning of context, no matter how much you think your silly juvenile hyperbole impresses people.

DeMeco and his staff don’t owe us anything. Most of this is just media/fans thirsty for football content. We all need something to talk about.

Don't you think that would have created even more noise?

All NFL teams are supposed to report injuries in season. But they are not liable for reporting offseason surgeries, or rehab from previous injuries. I don't know if CJ had a procedure done this offseason. Though it would help explain his very low profile since the season ended. I'm not going to be too concerned, right now. If it keeps Stroud off the field in training camp, I might change my tune.

I like Demeco but he’s given me zero reason to trust anything he says when it comes to injuries. Last year we dealt with the Harris BS (and it appears like this year will be the same). At best it’s obfuscating the truth and at worst it’s just down right lying.

Assuming your prognosis is correct (re: Type III A-C separation), I know from a previous post that the recovery time is 8-14 weeks and doesn't require surgery to heal. I know that he has to rest the shoulder and do rehab, but does this mean he will be ready for the start of the season, or possibly pre-season? I tried searching your posts before I asked this, but I didn't see anything specifically stating if you think he will be ready to go Week 1.

If you did, my apologies in advance. Thank you as always for your knowledge and insights.

For who he has on the field during games and what takes place during those games, sure, I’ll trust him. That said, dude literally lied to our faces about this throwing program bullshit. That I can’t comprehend in any way, shape or form, especially in late May/early June. What purpose does that serve other than making you a liar?

They want money from us to build their playpens, buy their overpriced tickets, merch and concessions, and then they lie right to our faces?

If everything goes perfectly, he should be ready to go week 1. But there are many factors that will determine this and at what level he will return. Type III injuries are commonly associated with other injuries. Concomitant pathologies are diagnosed in 35-40% of the patients in the under 35 year group. Most common associated injuries are rotator cuff injuries (~30%), cartilage damage (~30%) and SLAP (labrum) lesions (~20%). Of all patients, only ~9% need additional reconstructive surgery. Although additional surgeries are usually not needed, residual effects of the injuries can definitely become chronic.

We will likely need to see his performance at least in the first half of the season (especially to account for wear down) to determine what if any residual effects he may have................and even that is if his shoulder is not re-injured during play.

What have you done to change the situation? Name one thing you’ve done to change the situation, whatever it is. You try to drag people in with the sky is falling stuff while others are nonplussed. Perhaps there is a valid reason why you have bridges for sale in the Sahara that you want to get rid of. Nobody else jumped at the first news they were for sale without getting more information.

There is no doubt that there is a very potential competitive advantage to be gained by withholding, misrepresenting or manipulating injury information. It definitely can disrupt opponent preparation. Knowing an opposing team's injury situation, particularly for key players, allows a team to tailor their game plan to exploit those weaknesses. Conversely, a team that hides or misrepresents player injuries misleads the opposition, forcing them to waste time and effort preparing for a scenario that won't unfold.

And again, The NFL Injury Report Policy was not followed as relates to Stroud.:

1. Practice Report

The Practice Report is expected to provide clubs and the public an accurate description of a player’s injury status and his level of participation during the practice week. All players who have reportable injuries must be listed on the Practice Report, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the team is certain that he will play in the upcoming game. This is especially true of key players and those players whose injuries have been the subject of local or national media coverage.

Some injuries are automatically reportable because they result in the player’s unavailability or limited availability to the club. These include any injury that: (a) causes the player to miss a game; (b) prevents the player from finishing a game; (c) causes the player to miss a practice (Did Not Participate); (d) limits the player’s participation in practice (Limited Participation); or (e) prevents the player from finishing a practice (Limited Participation).

Other injuries may be reportable because of their effect upon the player’s performance despite his continuing availability to the club. As one example, assume a club’s quarterback suffers an injury to a finger of his right (throwing) hand during the club’s first game of the season. After treatment, he is able to finish the game despite his injury. Given the injury’s effect upon the player’s performance, and the fact that he is a key player, the injury must be listed on the club’s Practice Report each day of the following week, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the club is certain that he will play in the club’s next game. In such a case, the player should be listed as “Full Participation (right finger)” in the Practice Report, but would not be listed in the club’s Game Status Report for Week 2 because the player is certain to play in the club’s upcoming game. See Section 2 (Game Status Report) on page 5. The club must continue to list the player on its weekly Practice Reports until the player’s injury no longer affects the player’s performance.
 
Play that Stroud's shoulder was injured in the Jets game. A hard fall onto the elbow, especially with the arm extended, can classically transfer the force to the shoulder and lead to an A-C joint shoulder separation, especially in a quarterback who might be bracing for a fall during a tackle/sack.

Wife had successful knee surgery today at Houston Rockets orthopedics. She was operated on by Rockets team surgeon. Im sitting in my truck and Jalen Pitre pulls in right next to me in a gray porsche suv. He was picking up his wife from surgery also.
