Texans random thought of the day

Pretty excited to be making my first trip to Houston late September/early October, especially to be seeing the Texans at NRG for the first time (saw them at Wembley a few years ago which was awesome!).

Also looking forward to taking in Houston itself, especially the food which looks epic! I think most grown men on here would cry if you saw what passes for BBQ here in the UK 😂
Hope you enjoy your visit and get to celebrate a Texans win on their way to the Super Bowl!

To order one with Stefon Diggs, you better hope he's going to be around more than 2024!

Not sure how often you make it to London but Texas Joe's by the Shard behind Guy's Hospital is legit. Joe is a Longhorn and brought his brisket oven over from Texas and painted it burnt orange. Uses USDA beef not British beef. Lived in Surrey and worked at Oxford Circus, but would make the trip all the way over to London Bridge station just to eat there every couple of weeks. He loved it when fellow Texans would come in.

It’s a very rare thing that I go to London, maybe like once every 5 to 10 years. Now that I know of that restaurant though, I’ll be sure to check it out next time I’m there!

Tell me where he said he had a link or if it was a rumor.

Must be nice to live in such a binary world. "Link or it didn't happen" isn't a position based in reality though.

It is common knowledge that Cal had a problem and Easterby helped him overcome it. That is how Easterby earned the trust that he abused to worm him way into a position of power. Cal doesn't give him that power just based on having prayed together and putting up inspirational posters in the facility.

Must be nice to live in a world where someone can twist words and say someone said something they didn’t.

How is the weather there?

Coming back to this. You didn't. I'll blame the small font and aging eyes, but I read it as such.

I'll take accountability for my misinterpretations and obvious lessening grasp of English grammar structure.

You didn’t answer the question.

Were you under a rock during that time period? Not that anyone could blame you during those dismal days, but sometimes it helps to pay attention. And if that doesn’t work,
G-O-O-G-L-E.
This shit isn’t that f’ing hard.

actually in todays age even googling stuff is extremely hard...there is so much information on there thats scrubbed and censored its not even funny.

Still, if someone is asking for a specific link to something, it can be found. We don’t have to take the thread off the rails like we’ve done, but then I guess that’s never stopped us before.

The newer AI algorithms also absolutely blow.
Is that good or bad?

My take on asking for a link - it should be assumed that it the ask is not asking for anyone to spend excessive time searching. But if someone knows where or can find the information quickly, then this can save the person asking a lot of time otherwise wasted in searching. If you don't know, or don't want to help, there's no need to get bent out of shape or make an issue of it.

Just a bit condescending

Can you provide a link for your take?
😝

So did Cal fall off the wagon?
I don't think there is a link because that's probably a pretty personal thing to put out there, but based on my history on TT, usually when stuff like this gets posted it's more likely true than false.

Cal having an alcohol problem makes more sense as why they would allow a worm like Easterby to hang around for so long.

Unless you're someone who thinks Nick Caserio is a file clerk. I would imagine you were at least mildly mentally retarded if you thought that and were "smart" enough to post it.

:spin:

PS. I think we need to add a hamster wheel to the emoji section, but this is the best I could do.

Dang. He was someone that really impressed me when we played them and was someone I was gonna keep an eye on depending on how our LB room shakes out.

I am interested to see how the Browns manage to keep all their contracts under the salary cap. They're utilizing some pretty hefty void years in some contracts (as is Philadelphia), but at some point you have to pay the piper.

Caserio isn't shy using voidable years as the Texans have 7 contracts containing them.

I don’t know how all the voidable cap years work. Someone can point out my errors, but I did a quick google search and came up with this chart. It is dated 5 months ago. So it may not be as up to date

The information I get from this chart as while Caserio uses voidable contract years it is nothing like the Eagles of Browns. Definitely not the same strategy.

He was signed here in w2013 as a UDFA and saw some action here but was released along with Sam Montgomery for breaking team rules. Murdering a young girl in your care is beyond the pale. Hope he rots in hell!
If I remember correctly, he also was suspended games in college for breaking rules. Seems like the kind of guy that does what he wants to regardless of consequences.

I'm not a cap guru, but I can tell you that the Browns and Eagles are going to be in a bad way in a few years. It'll be similar to the Bills eating 31M when they traded us Diggs.

Voidable years is an accounting technique for dividing aka prorating a signing bonuse over a larger number of years without locking the player into those years.
A good example and recent for the Texans was a signing bonus of $21m given to Danielle hunter. He is only under contract for two of five years allowing him to renegotiate with the Texans for another team.
Hunter becomes an unrestricted free agent after those two years and the prorated bonus of $4,200,000 for each of 26, 27 and 28 is a very absorbable amount each of those years for a high caliber player such as him.
Player likes as he can enter into a new deal more quickly and the signing bonus is already in his a checking account.

? Philly has $24 m; $13m and $54m cap space the next three seasons. That does not include eliminating cap costs that is often done.
At what point does a few years kick in?

One of the reasons Easterby stuck around so long was because Cal was grateful for Easterby's help with his alcohol problem.
I would think if someone as much in the public eye as Cal McNair had an alcohol problem, it would be easy to verify it. If he does, he is really stupid to be jumping up on a public stage with a famous singer and drinking alcohol. I would think the so-called news media and those with camera phones would be posting that everywhere on the internet while referring to his alcohol issue.

Where are you getting the weight on Autry? He's listed at 273 lbs on the Texans web site. 285 lbs on pro football reference.

Autry is a hybrid that can move from 5 to 3 technique. Judon is an edge, be it in even or odd fronts. Judon is a good player, but I doubt he would be happy with the snaps he would receive behind Hunter and Anderson. Not to mention, Judon is looking for an extension and more guaranteed money. Not a good fit here.
What about trading for Matt Judon with the Patriots? He is 32 in August compared to Autry at 34. He is 6 ft 3 275 while Autry is 6'5 265.
He does want an extension but we do have the money. He is coming off an injury in 2023 and seem to be clicking with four sacks before the bicep injury.
Looks like Texans might have agreed with me.

Matthew Judon seemed destined to get traded before the 2024 NFL season began. The New England Patriots are officially in rebuild mode and Judon, who enters the...
