Texans random thought of the day

I'm sure you guys saw the "Super Bowl babies" commercial.

I think we need to take that commercial and add one last scene. Last scene being, after all these scenes they show a shot of NRG Stadium with the Astrodome (Texans/Oilers representing) -----music still playing, but no one there with "???" on the bottom of the screen. Then send it to Bob McNair.

Better yet, a couple in the foreground clearly getting it on under a Texans blanket and the guy says, "Damn it Bob, I can't last forever!"

Sorry, I has a drunk. :D

ya know I was wondering If Hoyer or weeden played a half way Normal Game not even great just normal could we have wiped the floor against Denver ..?????

same with Cincy They would of prob beaten Denver 2 o well

the problem was getting past New England any who

I'd like to imagine that Bob and Rick watched the Super Bowl together. And as soon as it ended Bob turned to Rick and said to him, "give me one good reason why you should still have a job tomorrow."

Yeah.......I'd like to imagine that..
I'd imagine the answer could be, "I told you so, but you wouldn't listen when you're frustrated, so I did what you to me to do."

Wouldn't it be awesome to first get a win past the 1st round of the playoffs.
That's not too big a deal. We made it past the first post season game 2 of 3 years we've been in the playoffs. Looking at it again, I think you meant after the WC round, and yes, that would be nice.

I think he was pretty clear. A win past the first round.

A win in the second round would qualify.

Then McNair says you're fited.

Never happen McNair said earlier that Smith was doing a great job.

I'd hope that Rick Smith and McNair were watching the Super Bowl together. I'd also like to imagine that McNair spilled some of his beer on his hand, and slapped Rick Smith on the back of the head after the Broncos won.

With a broken QB no less.

I don't doubt for a second that Rick Smith is mediocre at best as a GM. But do the Texans have a good scouting team? What if they are just as inept as Rick Smith?

I hope our field is better than that ice rink the SB was played on.

Actually, what is the deal with the field for next season? Wasn't the artificial stuff supposed to be temporary? Are they going back to a "new and improved" pallet?

I wouldn't hold your breath for a change back to the pallet system. I don't believe any "improved modifications" to the pallet concept has much of a chance to be any more practical than the one we fielded in past years. If the FO elects for any change (and I have great doubts that they will change back to natural grass because they've discovered the cost effectiveness of the maintenance of the artificial surface), it would have to be a static grass field maintained with artificial lights to survive (and thus back to a more costly maintenance venture).

since the colts will be paying luck all this money I guess they will not want to pay or keep andre Johnson so I kinda want him to come back home

maybe he can end his career here and be a good WR for Us maybe not a starter but a good backup for us

I would like to see the Texans sign him to a one day contract so that he can retire as a Texan. I seriously doubt that either AJ or the Texans are interested in him playing for the team again.

Anyone else think we should just draft from a line up of pizza boys for the QB position?

It was obviously a very damn good method for picking a DE.
Not a bad idea, but I'd want the guy tossing the pizza over delivering the pizza at QB. He'd have a better arm.

Either way... we need to stick with what works. Even Manning has connections with Papa Johns.

I think pizza is the key.

Doing a google search on a completely unrelated topic, I came across this gem dated Nov 2015...

For Texans fans who’ve been roaming the quarterback desert for news, there may be an oasis in sight. The Texans reportedly have inquired about Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch. He’s a redshirt junior but is projected by many analysts to go high if he declared for the 2016 draft. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported this week that Lynch’s high school coach Allen Johnson said the Texans, Broncos and Bills have called him, ostensibly to inquire about his former pupil.

6 teams that should target Ryan Fitzpatrick:

Houston Texans
Before Fitzpatrick was with the Jets, he was a member of the Houston Texans. While the former Harvard standout had his highest yardage and touchdown totals in 2015, his per-play numbers were better in 2014 with Houston. His 8.0 yards per attempt was a full yard higher than any other year, and his 95.3 NFL passer rating was also his best.

One reason a reunion could bring a boost to the Texans’ offense is that no other quarterback has connected as well with DeAndre Hopkins as Fitzpatrick. During Fitzpatrick’s time with Hopkins, the duo recorded 995 yards and six touchdowns, more than any other quarterback has with the wide receiver. This is especially impressive considering Brian Hoyer (57.5) has thrown 116 passes to Hopkins, while Fitzpatrick has only thrown 80. Anything that is good for Hopkins is good for the Texans, and this might be Hopkins’ best option for 2016.

cap expected to be about $153 million (projected) - $117 million current = $36 million cap space. Does not include Wilfork $4 million, Duane Brown $7 million and Hoyer $5 million if team needed.

Texans make it official, announce their cuts of Garrett Graham

7 mil to ride the bench.

And then there's OD:

OD was hurt a lot when we let him go. Still sad that his 94 catches in 2 years is eons better than we've had...combined.

Are you implying that it's OB's fault all the TE's have stone hands?

I did not say that. I said that Graham looked good enough under Kubiak to warrant the deal he got. Under OB he an every other TE has been bad under OB. There were no implications in that other than he looked good enough under Kubiak and that is why he was kept around.

But since you brought it up, Graham didn't have very many targets. According to this site: http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/drops/2015/customize/ he had 4 drops out of 19 targets. OD's drop rate was 6.5%. Fido's was 4.2%. Fido had one drop according to the site. Even if you want to say they are innaccurate you can add what one maybe two? He still would have a respectable reception rate. Griffin also only had one drop, btw.

Our TE's saw a total of 77 targets. There were 6 drops in there between the three and Graham had 4 of them....according to the site I used. The stone hands stuff if overstated.

A legit gripe could be that they simply didn't get open enough...But even then I think the QB and head coach have to come into play some there too.

Graham- 4 out of 19 = 20% drop rate = very poor
Fiedo- I guess his 1 drop was the drop INT for a TD in Miami.
Griffin = the best of a bad lot.

The Texans need to spend some FA $$$$ to get a proven YOUNG TE. Green/Allen etc...

part of me wishes we still had the Oilers logo and colors. Feeling all nostalgic watching old highlights this morning...
