Marcus Leak Signs With the Houston Texans
The Houston Texans have signed wide receiver Marcus Leak.

The Houston Texans have signed free agent wide recevier Marcus Leak to the roster. Leak marks the fourth player the Texans have signed that has been with assistant general manger Jimmy Raye III in previous stops. Leak joins Sio Moore, Marcus Gilchrist, Devin Street who have been in an organization with Raye.

Leak spent 10 weeks with the Indianapolis Colts on the practice squad in 2016.

He was signed as a college free agent after the 2016 NFL Draft out of Maryland. He appeared in 27 games (16 starts) in three seasons in Maryland. Leak had 55 total catches for 775 yards and six touchdowns in his career for the Terrapins.

In 2011, he became the first freshman to start at receiver for the Terrapins.

Does it bother anyone else that Jimmy Raye III is bringing in a line players from a team that has been perennially filled with bottom dwellers except for Luck (at one time) and TY Hilton?

As for Marcus Leak, he has had an "interesting" history with the Colts:

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:

* Signed by the Texans on August 5, 2017
  • Waived by the Colts on June 15, 2017.
  • Signed by the Colts to a reserve/future contract on January 2, 2017.
  • Signed by the Colts to the practice squad on November 16, 2016.
  • Waived by the Colts on November 15, 2016.
  • Signed by the Colts to the active roster(never played) from the practice squad on November 8, 2016.
  • Signed by the Colts to the practice squad on October 18, 2016.
  • Waived by the Colts on August 22, 2016.
  • Signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2016.

I think signing players is one thing. Developing players is another. The Colts don't have a history of developing talented players. In fact their history shows talented player's stock drop after going through their program.

Hopefully our staff will do better with them than the Colt's organization.

& these are camp bodies. We'll see how Jimmy Raye III does in FA next year.

naaah.... Gilchrist was a 2nd rd pick from the Chargers, Street was plucked from the Pats practice squad by the Colts when Moncrief went down, and Moore is probably a camp body whose getting a look for ST. And you said yourself that Leak probably got caught up in the Pats WR logjam. Besides, I'm thinking Wes Welker will figure out if any of them are worth keeping.

You meant Deandrew White, didn't you?

BTW, for those who don't know, White was born and grew up in Houston, going to Northshore High School.

I think Ervin/Hunt's roster spot will be saved by getting rid of a WR if they both play well in preseason.

Gotta get the most talented players and both can split out wide if needed. They are our Dion Lewis/James White RBs.

I would like the idea of the Texans going with 5 RB's since Miller, Ervin and Hunt can catch. Also, TE- Anderson represents another target who's more of a tweener (TE-WR) but answers the need of a TE3 and a WR5 in one player. Hopkins, Strong, Miller and Williams make a solid enough group until Fuller makes it back from his broken collarbone. Texans could always stash a WR or 2 on the PS or IR.

What on earth would make you think Miller, Strong, Williams make a solid WR group? They have accomplished nothing in the NFL.

So you have no faith in Wes Welker's coaching ability??
:)

I just cant see how anyone could consider the Texans WR corps solid.

You've got a bust/injury (Strong) Injury waiting to happen (Miller) and Williams has potential but would be a developmental WR on most NFL teams.

That may be considered solid to some I guess.

Not solid, but has potential. Not everyone looks at it 'this glass is busted and won't hold anything' like you do

What on earth keeps you hanging around this website ? Go find a team you like, get a life instead of spending your time whining about a team you obviously despise. Lifes too short, get a life man, grow up. Go find a team you feel good about, your attitude reeks of negatism and despair.

What wasn't true about that post?

I will be doing with my time what I see fit to do. (Thank You).

The reason I like this site is I spent over 30 mins talking to a guy on the phone who I really enjoy visiting with. (A great guy who makes me laugh.) BTW, we disagree about almost everything on this MB but he agreed with me on the Texans WR post.)

The Texans defense will fall off a bit, but still be a top 10 defense.

The Texans offense will continue to look like crap until they fix the OL and get some more experience at WR.

He's 170 years old & the real people in his life stopped listening to him. Posts like yours are the only things left that makes him feel alive.

As bad as that sounds... Texian is in a much worse situation.

The Texans will start a QB not on the current roster

And win with that quarterback. Have you noticed the offense seems to run smoother with a QB that has less knowledge with it than those who have been here for awhile? It's because O'Brien dumbs down the offense for them. That's the biggest (and it's a big one) complaint I have with O'Brien. He makes the offense more complicated than it needs to be.

Monday's best at NFL training camps: What you need to know
Sarah Barshop, ESPN Staff Writer
Tom Savage said some of the rookies have asked him what it feels like to play in an NFL game, and the fourth-year quarterback said, "I've told them I've only played three games in the NFL, so I'm not really a good person to come up to and ask."

Texans' Tom Savage, Deshaun Watson 'making each other better'
http://www.espn.com/blog/houston-te...avage-deshaun-watson-making-each-other-better

...

Both quarterbacks have had good training camps, according to O'Brien, and the coach said there's no question Savage and Watson are pushing each other to be better.

"Those guys are competitive. They're both good," O'Brien said. "I think that that whole room is very talented. ... They're making each other better. There's no doubt about it."

Savage said one of the keys to the quarterback room is that competition and pushing each other to get better, while also helping each other out. Since Watson was drafted, the rookie said he has been picking the brains of Savage and fellow quarterback Brandon Weeden.

...

"Tom [Savage] and Brandon [Weeden] have done a really good job with Deshaun [Watson], of kind of giving him their own insight into the offense, which is good to see."

"From what I see, I think it's really good chemistry. There's a lot of encouragement, a lot of give-and-take in the room, definitely some senses of humor in the room. All three of them. I wouldn't say they're the funniest guys in the world, but they have their moments. They definitely all three get along and they root for each other when they're in there. It's competitive, obviously, but they want the offense to do well. They want their buddy to go in there and do well."

And while Savage and Watson have done well during training camp going up against the NFL's reigning No. 1 defense, it's difficult to judge if they will succeed based on practices alone. All three quarterbacks will get some playing time in Wednesday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, and O'Brien and the rest of the Texans' coaching staff will have a better idea of where the group stands.

Atleast he's honest, I can respect that. It would've been kinda embarrassing to try to give them a answer.

A fair complaint
