Texans random thought of the day

Will this be just one of those five-minute segments or will it be significantly longer. I don't know if I want to watch him snickering at us for 30 minutes.

Didn't see this before I replied. Great minds think alike. Or great minds think that OB vs BB is laughably mismatched.

Unrelated topic: maybe we should have chased CND off the board. Reading his posts are fricking depressing.

RIP D.Brown and JJ's careers

Week 5, Vikings Defense scares me. They are humming on all cylinders right now. Our OL will be severely tested at Minnesota.

I REALLY liked Harrison Smith in his draft year.

Glad he's living up to my hopes, too bad he's not wearing Deep Steel Blue.

And yes, the Vikings will be a huge test for our offense

Just saw a sad, sad thing on TV. David Carr "won" a Super Bowl ring with the Giants. I guess I've mentally blocked that out of my mind. Sigh....

Just heard "missing a healthy Arian Foster tonight, and a healthy Arian Foster is a huge difference maker" on NFLN (I might've paraphrased a bit). Miller hasn't really impressed so far. but at least he's NFL "healthy".

Carr is just one of many. You'd really get depressed if you stopped to think of the list of ex-Texans who left here and THEN got Superb Owl rings.

HOUSTON – The NFL named Houston Texans WR Will Fuller V the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Fuller recorded a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown on his first career punt return in Houston’s 27-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The touchdown broke a 20-20 tie in the third quarter, which proved to be the game-winning score. He is the first rookie in Texans history to score on a punt return and first overall Houston player to do so since Keshawn Martin on Nov. 17, 2013.

On offense, Fuller led the team with seven receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown, as he became the first Texans player and fourth NFL rookie in the past 15 years to score a receiving and punt return touchdown in the same game, joining Tavon Austin, T.Y. Hilton and Dez Bryant.

Fuller is the first rookie in NFL history to notch 300-plus receiving yards and a punt return touchdown in his team's first four games of a season.

This is the first career Player of the Week award for Fuller and the 37th time a Houston Texan has been named Player of the Week in franchise history. It is also the 12th time Houston has won the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award in team history and first since Randy Bullock in 2014.

Jag fan finally prove to be good for something. They've got a thread over there where they're tracking QB stats... basically trying to prove Bortles is better than Luck, but whatever... one of the guys is compiling the QB stats every week.

The week four results are in. Mariota is starting to look like garbage...

Week four results...

  1. Blake Bortles - 19 of 33 (57.6%) for 207 yards (6.3 YPA), 2 TDs and 0 INTs for a 96.4 qb rating with 1 rush TD
  2. Andrew Luck - 27 of 42 (64.3%) for 234 yards (5.6 YPA), 2 TD and 1 INT for a 84.8 qb rating
  3. Brock Osweiler - 25 of 37 (58.5%) for 254 yards (6.9 YPA), 2 TD and 2 INTs for a 82.5 qb rating
  4. Marcus Mariota - 13 of 29 (44.8%) for 202 yards (7.0 YPA), 0 TD and 1 INT for a 54.1 qb rating

Overall results...

  1. Andrew Luck - 103 of 166 (62.0%) for 1,147 yards (6.9 YPA), 8 TDs and 3 INTs for a 91.1 qb rating with 2 fumbles (2 lost)
  2. Blake Bortles - 98 of 160 (61.3%) for 1,050 yards (6.6 YPA), 7 TDs and 6 INTs for a 88.2 qb rating with 1 fumble (1 lost), 1 rush TD
  3. Brock Osweiler - 90 of 146 (61.6%) for 949 yards (6.5 YPA), 5 TDs and 6 INTs for a 74.8 rating
  4. Marcus Mariota - 80 of 136 (58.8%) for 925 yards (6.8 YPA), 4 TDs and 5 INTs for a 73.9 qb rating with 3 fumbles (2 lost)
I was wondering how long it would take for Mariota to reach last place in the division.

In truth, this means nothing without an argument, but it's interesting none the less.

Confucius says "if at first you don't succeed, try and try again".
Texans failed vs the Pats, They will succeed vs the Vikings.

I knew our schedule this year however I didn't realize every top level opponent we play this year is on the road. That kinda sucks!

Yeah, it is kind of sucky but if we want to be considered top tier, we have to beat "good" teams in their place.

I agree but man it would be nice to have a couple easier road games and a couple tough guys at our house.

NFL.com says:

17. Texans receiver Braxton Miller (hamstring) will be active, according to coach Bill O'Brien. "He did a nice job this week," O'Brien said.

Offensive tackle Duane Brown was limited in practice. "Yeah, I'm good to go Sunday," Brown said Friday, according to the Houston Chronical. "It feels great. It's been a long journey to get to this point. Very excited to get out there with my teammates and contribute. It’s a big test. I’m looking forward to it."
