Texans random thought of the day

Really interested in seeing what Gaine tries to do to fix secondary this offseason. Colvin was a bust signing. Doesn’t get any worse than having a high dollar FA signing at a position of need be a healthy inactive in a playoff game against an offense that shredded your secondary twice during the season.

Would have liked to see Vance Joseph come back to coach DBs but a position coach gig is too far a step down from HC. At any rate Midget should be relieved of DB coach duties at minimum.

Where's the MEAT???

Ok, I cheat. Use meat broths as a starter.

But big thing is I hate boiled vegetables. Can't stand boiled into paste. So I make a big pot of broth (a jar of Herdez is vital), 80% bake the vegetables and then toss them in the broth and turn the burner off.

Crunchy vegetables with a hardy broth.

And once a month I cook the best steak around. Doc said I could make exceptions.

The blind optimist in me tells me that communication was the big culprit early and then injury took it's toll, but then again :drunk:

I was never impressed with Joseph in any capacity. The DB's have to be put in a position to succeed, but imo there was a lot more to their suck than technique

Watch Cunningham.

Honest question, but what do you think his responsibility was here? The other TE was releasing to the sideline and it looked like Zach was going to cover him. If Zach stuck with Smith, then the other TE would have been uncovered as well.

That sounds delicious except I don't like vegetables.

DUDE! What's the point?

Yeah, ultinate irony. I'm a huge cook and then Doc hits

Kids favorite things are duck and cold steak morning after.

List of best memories. sitting with Bear before everyone else woke up, slicing steak and her salting.

Yep, looks like his responsibility for near side flat... he' a bit late but KJ is set to back him up. HB is in no mans terrority, looks like he is confused. But WTF is Clowney doing, the bunny hop?

When I read this, I instantly thought, Mike Mularkey has taken that step down. From HC to TEs coach. I looked at his resume to confirm and he’s taken this step down twice!

He had a really interesting career, and why people keep hiring him as a HC is mind boggling.

Buddy, you should cook her the bestest breakfast ever... some ham or leftover steak slices fried in bacon grease with some home fries and drop biscuits

Drop biscuits are a dying art.

Bear likes her meat rare. Dalton comes out "hey y'all ate the steak." Snooze, lose.

What they really want is custom made, duck benedict. Lick the plate.

Best breakfast......made a wonderful plate of Eggs Benedict this morning. Tomorrow morning, my Best Breakfast B.....Homemade Pinto Beans (Tonight's dinner), Tamales and 3 Eggs Overeasy.

Texans had everyone accounted for. McKinney had the RB, Cunningham correctly going after the other TE, JJo, KJax and Reid had the 2 WRs. Honey Badger screwed that up. He came up like he was biting on play-action, which there was none, then turned to try and help JJo with a receiver that was already behind him leaving Smith with the entire middle of the field. In fact, Mathieu had his back to the QB as the ball was being delivered and caught.

I suppose Zach could have taken Smith leaving the other TE to Kareem, but either way, Mathieu was useless on this play.

Man, Anderson is looking good tonight.

People say he's not a good teammate. But give me not a good teammate and a hard running 225 Lb RB who would be the perfect compliment to Miller. Cant trust Foreman to make it back from that injury.
Originally an undrafted rookie FA signed by the Broncos but still hanging around and he was already cut by 2 other teams this year alone before ending up in LA.
How's that ole bromide go ? Running backs are a dime a dozen, I dunno something like that ?

Yeah very strange. I suppose he’s a poor negotiator if he can’t coax out at least a coordinator job after being fired as an HC.

They are with the right offensive line/offensive mind.

See Sean Mcvay and that Rams OL.

Was Colvin a bust or injured all season ?

Good. Bear & Dalton tend to say "you cook" rather than 'let's go to a restaurant.' Legacy of a German grandfather (also includes never forgetting the home fries). Try cold steak instead of reheating. It's the bomb.

And they appreciate much of what they eat was hunted

And Clowney?

Awesome!

You have to understand how a rodent thinks to control a rodent.

Something that's beyond you.

May be beyond me.

Sue on the other hand nails them.

Who got the dog?

Don't hit the friggin post reply button more than once. Kibble, human, dog, cat, rat or otherwise is not coming out

Not recently, but this morning (last night) a few (including mod's) didn't take your advice

Actually Sue was too funny with the 1st rat. Stepped on its tail, looks to me, "what?"

Yeah well, night gets accommodated to a degree.

Could you have had two more contradictory phrases to start that? A five word oxymoron?

What was he doing.

He's supposed to go with the TE and release him to the S. He took false steps and generally looked like a drunk stumbling around on the street. Not that there's anything wrong with that being a drunk on the street, but it's not a good look at all for a supposed coverage NFL LB.

RAC has tried to use Cunningham that way, but it's obvious he's not up to the job and this isn't just one play, it's been a theme throughout the season.

What makes you think he was supposed to go with that TE (Smith)? The TE opposite his position and the one who had other defenders directly over him? And not the TE that was directly in front of his position and the one that he actually did cover out over the flat who it did in fact look like was his responsibility?

Like Speedy said, looks like Matthieu screwed the pooch here biting on the TE chipping initially on the play before releasing to where he (Tyrann) should've been. Not sure how Zach should take the heat on this play.

Looked to me like they were in some sort of Tampa 2 or zone and Cummingham should have trailed the TE up the seam but took a false step.

Truth is we don't know what type of defense they were in.

So you didn't see Matthieu actually take steps toward Smith only to back off into some other coverage once he saw Smith chip?

No did you see Zach take a clear and obvious line following his man toward the flat?

So again, why would Cunningham have responsibility across the formation, and thus clearly leaving the flat open, despite other defenders already there to take on that coverage?

And of course, no, we don't know exactly what the defensive call was, but that's never stopped us from discussing plays before and it certainly didn't stop from laying blame on Cunningham earlier.

I’m of the opinion that Colvin sucked ass more than he was injured. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t remember him making a single play even in preseason hype.

Are you sure Colvin is a bust FA signing and not just having had an injury that he couldn't get past?

Whether JD should have dropped in coverage or Zach gets Smith is irrelevant. The play and coverage called is what they went with and everyone had their assignments except Matthieu. All it takes is one blown assignment.

My question is what do you think Clowney was doing based solely on that pic

https://twitter.com/Titans/status/1067229850358804486?s=09

Was this play the one that ultimately did for the Texans' season?

I know Matheiu has lobbied hard against the suggestion that this was a busted coverage, but whatever got put on tape here, other offenses began to utilise against our D to the point where everyone was beating us constantly.
That's a busted coverage by either #32 or #55. Could be miscommunication. I don't like the fact that #32 turned his back to the QB so fast. That was probably the key read the QB made and knew he had the seam for a big play.
I'm leaning towards #32 having a major oops rather than #55.

To add into this debate, Mathieu took to Twitter following this game to call Jason Witten a liar.

""Lmao. This man Jason Witten said I bust[ed] a coverage," he wrote. "Why tell millions of people a lie? Smh.""

And let's not forget that it was before this very game that Mathieu was boasting how he had been given license to roam the field from here on out by RAC.

So, as much as it looks as if Mathieu has blown this play (and who knows, maybe the rest of the league might have just chalked it down to this also), Tyrann can't resist taking to Twitter to aggressively assert that rather than a simple busted read, this play is actually a blueprint of how to expose the Texans' scheme.

Everyone is on their man, and the Titans have called a great play, despite how it looks, if you call that play, or plays of similar concept, you will beat the Texans' D at will, because this is how the playbook is designed.

Gradually as the season goes on, we saw OC's begin to exploit this D, despite the fact that at around this point in the season, even Shareece Wright wasn't looking all that bad.

I missed Mathieu saying this but if it's true, it's a possibility that RAC may have been giving his stars too much freedom. It worked for Polamalu because his corners were able to cover if he got caught out of position. We don't have that kind of corner play right now -- Shareece Wright needed all the help he could get. Improve our corners and then let Mathieu use his instincts and roam.

Next years schedule has the Chiefs, Chargers, Saints, and Patriots as away games. Our home schedule isn't as scary as the road schedule is though. I hope ole Bob has a better plan for next year.

maybe this is the year brees brady and phill arm strength and overall play diminish kinda like peyton and schaub in the end pretty much couldn't throw the ball over 40 yards
