Texans/NRG field being changed to artificial surface for remainder of 2015

This cracked me up. I always thought the big smoke machine and fireworks thing was bullshit anyway but this was funny. I'm surprised it hasn't been an issue before.
This is what I think of when I see those pyrotechnics going off when the players are running onto the field. Soul Glo and Pyrotechnics do not mix, much like artificial surfaces.

Actually it's not important at all. This is a football game not a beauty contest.

If you think about it though every sport makes an effort to put the best looking field possible out there. There's gotta be a reason so many groundskeepers are employed and so much money is spent on this. It must matter to someone (who matters) or they wouldn't go to this much trouble.

Swearinger: New Texans Turf “Definitely Way Better” Than Grass Surface

The new playing surface inside NRG Stadium has its first supporter: D.J. Swearinger.

Swearinger, now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending his first two seasons playing on the field when it was laid using the old grass paneling system, said after the Houston Texans’ 19-9 win that he enjoyed the artificial field that debuted today.

“I liked the field,” he said. “The field, it’s nice turf. I felt like it was a nice playing field. It was definitely way better than last year, for sure.”

Swearinger brought national attention to the condition of the field last season, when he told Albert Breer of the NFL Network that 2014 top overall pick Jadeveon Clowney confided in Swearinger that Clowney had suffered a knee injury stepping in a hole in the field.

“He told me on the field when it happened, he was just like, ‘Bro, I just jumped, came down and hit one of the holes on the field,’” Swearinger said. “There are a few holes in the grass, so he said he thought he stepped on one of those holes and got hurt. So I told him to try and walk it off, see if he could go. He went in the next play and couldn’t go, so I told him to go to the sideline and see what’s up with it. And he went over to the sideline, and I guess that’s when they told him (he had to stay out).”

I take back what I said earlier, the field looked great on TV. I was very surprised on how well it looked. Good job by the Texans organization. Now, just get some blue end zones, and maybe some Battle Red on the games they sport the red jerseys. :texflag:

It looked like a Saints home game on TV. It will take me time to get used to.
We should bring back the blue colored end zones to diversify ourselves.
Battle Red paint the 20 yard lines to signify the red zone. That would look cool.
I like the gold painted 50 yard lines across the league. Brings more pizzazz to the game.

How do you feel about the new useless security nazi's that are causing a bottle neck just before you get to the practice bubble on the way to the stadium?

Just FYI, I have always been fascinated with all kinds of ballparks/stadiums for all kinds of sports. One of my favorite sites is http://www.ballparks.com/

It just so happens on the home page of that site they have the Texans field with the blue end zones. :littlelol:

They have a lot of info on almost every sports field you can think of, past and present. Here is the page about NRG.
Maybe it's just me, but I just find these type of things interesting.

That irks me beyond belief. It would make more sense to check the people coming into the lot not the ones leaving.
