I’m on the outside looking in although I’ve been a season ticket holder since the stadium opened. My observation as an outsider is tailgating has a bigger stage than the game itself, and many times after the sounding of the horn, many fans tend to begin filling the stadium mid first quarter, and unless the game is really close begin leaving early to mid 4th. However, once there the crowd arrives they are loud and disruptive to the opposing team, which is great!
True there aren’t a lot of restaurants or entertainment venues nearby, but the same can be said for Falcons, Cardinals, Commanders, Packers and 49ers.
I do question the push for a new stadium that is only 22 years old and newer than both Toyota Center and Daikin Park. I haven’t done my research yet and curious if any other stadiums are on the chopping block this soon. I don’t recall if maybe Commanders, but IMO, it isn’t nowhere near as nice as NRG.
I can agree that upgrades are needed as with an house and they do help to keep a stadium up to date, considering that AT&T is only seven years younger than NRG. I do find the upgrades to the grounds outside the stadium enhances the gameday experience, and the convenient Texas Live is a delightful hangout after the games after games. Even for those who tailgate still have Texas Live if they aren’t ready to head home two hours after the game.
Hopefully, the situation works out favoy for the great Texans fans.
