I can't don anything other than stare at his chin. Is it another mouth? Blow hole? Does he have a pet squirrel that stores nuts in there for winter?
I'm frightened.

I stick with my comment from yesterday, this has been done for a while know. News is bubbling:
http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/39722/Bill-O-Brien-reportedly-could-be-Texans-next-coach-within-24-hours/Default.aspxTexans can’t afford to wait on Whisenhunt because O’Brien is such a hot prospect.
Just curious.... have we heard that anyone else is interested in interviewing O'Brien? The Browns have said not interested & I'd imagine Tampa is going to steer away from a college coach... & probably away from "old school" as well.
Has the Lions or 'skins suggested they are interested? Or is this just media hype?

Everybody's after Bill O'Brien, but the perfect place for him is in Detroit

Meh...... I think O'Brien is the kind of guy that will want to bring in his own QB & not be saddled with a project. As enticing as Stafford is, he'll have his pick of a class with 3 or 4 Staffords if he comes to Houston.
While we don't have Megatron, we're pretty close to having everything else Tom Brady & Joe Flacco had in their early years. Andre & DeAndre & Posey. Arian. 3/5ths & a half of an OL...... Jj Watt, Brian Cushing & a relatively young talented defensive backfield.
I do like Detroit. I do believe they're a very talented underachieving team. Whoever goes there will be set up to win immediately. But a better opportunity than what we've got here in Houston?
& that's a reporter saying O'Brien is in demand.... most likely based on last year. So far this year, it's us & us competing for his services.

Detroit really has obvious advantages in only 2 area. QB and D-Line. Outside of that I'd say in every other area we either have the advantage of we're even (if healthy). If it comes down to us and them then it would be an interesting choice for him to make. Both teams can be playoff teams next year some adjustments. Probably a bigger if from our end, but if Teddy B ends up being a gamer then this may be the better long term option.
We'll see how he does...
But I think the Vikings are more on target with their interest in DCs Quinn (Seattle) and Bowles (Arizona), and OC Bevell (Seattle).
With QB being the Texans' No. 1 need, Bevell should have been on Boardroom Bob's short list.
bckey said:It's like this decision to pursue O'Brien was made back when he was deciding to fire Kubiak . I believe the consultant must have told McNair that O'Brien is your man and that if you want him you have to get the jump on signing him because he will be highly sought after.
But then you have to live in Detroit.
I'm hesitant with the whole Belichick Tree thing but the stuff in this thread a few pages back about his philosophies and the way he does things for gameplanning and such sound pretty damn good to me.
It wasn't Frank Bush's philosophy that was the problem, it was player selection and coaching that led to poor implementation.Only because it "works"
Frank Bush had a similar defensive philosophy & we hated it. Just like we have to have a core for the team, something to build on, the offense & defense needs to have a philosophy. Something that keeps them grounded, a common reference.
These are the 2 coordinators I brought up along with Ray Horton that I thought the Texans should interview. Not too high on Bevell. All 3 have done outstanding jobs. It seems like McNair is way out of character with this single minded pursuit of O'Brien. It's like this decision to pursue O'Brien was made back when he was deciding to fire Kubiak . I think Robert Kraft was the birdy who whispered O'Brien in Mr. McNair's ear. I also think Kraft told O'Brien that McNair is the guy you want to work for. O'Brien was also a sought after commodity around the league. I think he regretted not jumping back to the NFL last year and blamed his prior agent for that.
The consultants seem to have some reservations about O'Brien. Lovie and Wisenhunt are "safer" choices, both with prior HC experience. But McNair must have been blown away.

Calvin Johnson is a pretty good WR.

Remove Brady from the Patriots and Belichick isn't the wizard everyone makes him out to be.
Good point, although with their offensive line at the time, Schaub could have been league MVP.
But I wasn't saying Belichick isn't a good coach. He is, and a very good one.
He just isn't the be-all and end-all of coaches. His sustained success at NE starts and ends with Brady (and the OL).
Let's see if he's still there to usher in the Mallett Era.

Hopefully, one day, Bob McNair will figure out that all of Bob Kraft's free advice is NOT necessarily in the best interest of Bob McNair. Bob Kraft is the competition and it is in Kraft's best interest that the Houston Texans remain less competitive than the New England Patriots.....just sayin
I'm wondering how sought-after O'Brien really is.
Good Point, so far it appears that the Texans are the the only team dialing his number.
At some point when it became obvious that I was going to marry my wife, others dudes didn't bother to call her.
That ring is not on O'Brien's finger, yet, my friend.
NFL owners can be pretty ruthless, and the fact that we are closing on Tuesday and all we've heard are rumors of flirting makes me wonder what the heck is going down on Kirby.
The way the media was acting last weekend had a forgone conclusion that a deal would have been announced by today.
