If they already cut Foster without needing the money & Graham & Moore... chances are they aren't going to be cutting Hoyer.
Having Hoyer already shows the Texans don't have a qb at all. Nobody is fooled.I totally disagree. Hoyer will be gone, but cutting him before making their big move at QB (whatever that will be) could expose their plans and complicate their bargaining position.
Doc, Arian's Instagram is worthy of it's own thread. Any chance you could post it as a stand alone so that everyone can have a chance to read it?Arian's Farewell through Instagram:
Classy...........Good luck to you, Arian, from here on.
So let's say you have a cell phone that you literally never use because you have a newer one.
This move was expected, so this should not come as a shock to anyone. Foster was a great Texan and I'm sorry to see him go but this is a business and when you can't stay on the field you have no value to the team.
Anyone know how much extra money we now have in FA, or what's our total amount of free money for FA and draft now?
Because the Texans needing a QB is a secret?I totally disagree. Hoyer will be gone, but cutting him before making their big move at QB (whatever that will be) could expose their plans and complicate their bargaining position.
were over 40 million. Dont know the exact number.
Seth Payne made a good point I didnt think of. Even if we had the money while keeping Foster it would have made luring a top FA rb here almost impossible. The guy doesnt want to come in and think theres a chance at some point he will be playing second fiddle.

Spoken like a true fan! And a good one, to boot. I feel your pain, but I'm not the sentimenstrual type very often. If Arian were a cell phone plan, sure.
I'm too sentimental about things like this. Players who've defined what a Houston Texans is.
I understand eventually he was going to have to go. & if we became a better team the minute we cut him, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
I'm not a big Schaub fan, but he set the bar. We became a better team the minute we let him go & the Texans appeared to be a classy organization the way they went about it. Even got a 7th round pick for him when none of us thought they would.
To me, this feels like firing Kubiak weeks after he suffered a mild stroke. This is the kind of thing I'd look down on, if I were a player looking for a new home. Not the kind of organization I want to invest my blood, sweat, tears, & my health on.
David Carr gets a golden handshake. Quessenberry is taken care of. Foster has done more for this team than they ever will, same as Andre & they get a golden shower.
& Hoyer is still on the team. Now that's a f'ckd up cell plan.
We're going to have a heck of a time luring FA QBs then.
I lobe the smoke and mirrors side to the pre draft season, and the Texan's are usually pretty good at it. Is that by design or because even they don't know what they're going to do? A couple of bullseye's, a couple of very good picks and some gawdawful misses murk the picture for me. I just don't know. Not true... Plenty of fans are worried that the Texans plan to keep Hoyer. It stands to reason that NFL teams must consider that possibility as well. I think a lot of GMs expect that the big QB transaction by the Texans to be drafting Hackenburg. Cutting Hoyer now, signals to the NFL that the Texans are going after Goff/Wentz or they are aggressively moving before the draft: Osweiler, Kaepernick, RGIII, Garroppalo, etc...
Smart move. So now go for miller in FA.

I really, really, really want to know who made the case for JJ and what their reasoning was. Was it shrewd scouting or a blind squirrel finding the mother of all acorns?
EDIT: And who made the final call on the JJ pick.
So Graham is gone too. That makes complete sense to me. Should have kept Daniels and released Graham early on.
Nobody. Nobody believes the Texans are going to go into another season with Hoyer intended to play a significant role. The Texans will draft, sign or trade for a better option that Hoyer.
Fans are saying they'd rather not have him on the roster. No one believes the Texans intend to let him start.
Now savage, that's a different case. I don't believe they'll hand the reigns to him personally but I can see the Texans taking a rookie and then having another pre season competition between the two.

according to over the cap we are now at 42.8
We would be wise to use some of that to resign Brooks and target a tackle for LT insurance.
We'll also need to sign a FA RB or draft one.
The majority of that 42M can go pretty quick on just a handful of guys.
Graham looked good enough under kubiak to warrant the contract he got.
Under OB he and every other TE has been bad.

Cushing?Expected this happen. Would actually have been disappointed if he wasn't cut.
Cushing next?
I am not a Capisce, I'm a Baptist!Like I give two sh!ts about what you think of my life.
I happen to love every precious minute given to me by my creator and hope you feel the same.
Tell you what, you worry about your life and I'll worry about mine. Capisce.
I understand... That is my point. Hoyer on the roster signals something about their off-season plan (that they are going after one guy, probably a rookie). Hoyer cut signals the Texans will likely be aggressive before the draft.... And if they aren't, they are going all in after Goff.
He will do great in New England next year
Are you implying that it's OB's fault all the TE's have stone hands?
I fully expect to see Graham end up in Denver. That will tell the tale.I would say look at stats. In 2013 with Kubiak as the coach, Graham and Griffin didn't appear to have stone hands. 70 receptions, 800 yards, 6 TD's.
In 2014-15 with OB as the coach all of a sudden now they can't catch sh!t and have developed stone hands? Like as professional NFL players they simply forgot how to catch a ball? That the scheme, plays and turnstile of dumpster fire QB's had NOTHING to do with it?
Graham has a 50/550/5 season on his resume. He will have no issue catching on with another team and probably doing an OD 2.0 on us. While OB continues to trot out Fido as a starter.
I think Griffin could be special if our plays helped get him open, like the rub plays they get away with in New England, a staple of their offense.
Special? why? he is a below average blocker. He does not run particularly well and certainly isn't a threat after the catch... and you are saying that he would be special if only the Texans designed plays to get him open. So, is his skill set that makes him special?
It was OBs regime that extended Graham. So, what does that mean? Did OB misjudge Graham? Or did Graham lay down after getting paid? I'd have to go with the former.Graham looked good enough under kubiak to warrant the contract he got.

Griffin is a very underrated talent. If we could get him the damn ball it would be more apparent. He's a very well-rounded player.
One of the problems was that in the past 2 years, our QBs had a big problem finding anyone in the middle of the field......a real detriment to getting your TEs involved.Probably a few factors involved from graham and the team. I'd also throw in that until OB shows he can get productivity from TE's not named Gronk or Hernandez with maybe the best qb ever throwing to them, Im a bit skeptical that ALL of the blame lies with the TE's here.
