Texans & Austin - KEYE 2008

If they don't televise the opener vs. Pitt., I'm going to try to make it down to 3rd Base. I've never been there before, but sounds like a great time!
 
I'm not sure I'll get the game next week. I have Grande (not by choice) and I have a great TV, just not HD.

I might do 3rd Base as well for the opener if I can't get it on the tube. I quit drinking so I'd better drive a school bus there so I can get everybody home safe..:rally:
 
Well if PinkEYE 42 screws us again especially for the opener I may have to show up at 3rd Base, keeping in mind I pay for the NFL Ticket and could stay home. But I have heard there could be a Livid 13 sighting and also axman40 owes me some beer and munchies.
 
Just got off the phone with Gary at KEYE, and he said that the Pre-Season Contract with our Texans expired this year and every game coinsides with a cowboys game to which Keye also has the Pre-Season Contract. He offered the Texans RPN (or RPN or whatever!) and they declined. So I hope they contracted with the CW!!!
NOW, without further delay, he said "he is certain they will show the Texans season opener against the Steelers". They are having their schedueling meeting tomorrow and he will call me and let me know tomorrow after the meeting so I can inform all of you of the final decision!
I will be waiting :foottap:

So they're trying to suck up to the Texans on the last year, and the Texans aren't buying it?

They know where the money will be coming from for the next decade and they don't want to lose it. You lost your chance K-EYE, now the official channel for the Texans is going to change. Pwahahah screw you K-BYE.

That means exactly NOTHING. Not only did the exact same thing happen last year - but they EVEN MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE AUSTIN AMERICAN STATESMAN that said "we're going to start with the Texans on opening weekend, and see where it goes from there."

So, I'm glad it's at least being discussed - but last year they said the exact same thing via email, and IN PRINT - and went back on their word.

I do appreciate that you're joining the ranks of us that have been dealing with this for what's about to be three years now. We've all made lots of phone calls... lots of emails, and they've basically responded by pissing in our faces. It was cordial for a while, but when you start lying to people - it gets heated, and that's what happened.

Anyway - when he gets back to you, you might bring up the issue from last season when they promised to start with Houston. I'm sure he'll just laugh it off and say he doesn't know what you're talking about.
 
IMPORTANT UPDATE:

That screencap I posted earlier is no more. I just checked again - and now they just have regular programming on that KEYER (KEYE2 on Time Warner) on Saturday at 7PM... so PLEASE disregard that screencap - the game will NOT be on KEYE2/KEYER.
 
...also - There's no mention of the Texans game Saturday night on the CW/KNVA-Austin TV schedule, and it's not on my Time Warner Guide.

So, as of now - am I wrong in saying that this game will not be televised live in Austin on Saturday? I get that it's on delay on NFLN, but I don't have NFLN, and neither do most people in Austin.

When is the NFLN delay broadcast?? (Sorry, I guess I could go and find out myself.)
 
K-EYE might've taken it off the schedule because CW is showing it. It isn't on the CW saturday schedule, but AX said that it was announced on CBS 6 o'clock news.... so take it FWIW.

That's what I mean - it's not on the CW schedule. Either they're really, really bad at marketing - or it's just not showing on their network Saturday.

I mean, don't you think they would #1 - advertise it on their website or at LEAST #2 - add it to their online program guide?

It odds that they wouldn't advertise it, because they could get a higher rating then a regular show. But it's also odd that K-EYE would take the game off their second channel. If they have a chance to show both they will, imo.

I'll just call CW tomorrow to check it.

Okay, I have DirecTV and I don't see this. On 8/9 on KEYE they are showing the cowpatties at 8PM on the HD Channel and the non-HD channel according to my guide. It doesn't appear to me that I will be able to recieve the game live.

However on NFLN they have the Broncos/Texans game at 9PM, FYI.

Those are Eastern times, CST will be at 9 PM it has showed up on the DirecTV guide since I posted the quote above.
 
Hey Guys...sorry for a dumb question...but what's CW? Is that a network on cable? I just have digital Time Warner, no HD.

CW = KNVA. I assume if you're in the Greater Austin area that you and I have the same lineup in our cable boxes... in mine it's channel 12. Hope that helps.

Yeah! I just got this email from CW also - in response to me asking if it's true they're showing the game:

Yes 8/9/08 – 7p – 10p and 8/16/08 7p – 10p. I am sending the change now.

So, at least we know for sure they're showing the first TWO pre-season games.

Yes. I've been a Grande customer for a few years now and don't have too many complaints. ( I need to call them and upgrade to DVR). I was really pissed with them the season before last because even though they offered NFLN, they hadn't ponied up for the regular season games. That changed last year.

Their internet service is solid. I don't have an HD TV, so their HD package isn't something I've ever paid much attention to.
 
Had Direct TV for over 12 years now, no complaints whatsoever.
NFL Network,NFL Ticket, CW for preseason, More HD than I need, cheaper than cable, better signal, nuff said!

What about when it rains? Do you lose the signal? Oh yeah, I forgot...it doesn't rain in Austin.
 
Very few times has that happened. The new dishes and the type of signal it doesnt happen often, neither does the rain.
I would trade the minor inconvienance any day than pay what cable costs for what you get and the service, quality etc.
Besides for anyone who loves the NFL it is a must because of the the Ticket.
 
In related news, KEYE is now showing Airwolf and Buck Rogers on KEYER where they had the Texans earlier. Great job, StinkEYE, you suck....and I know the Texans didn't renew with them the preseason games, but I am not done beating on them from last year.

Yeah, I posted earlier that the screencap of the schedule I posted is no longer accurate. KEYER is not showing the game.

It's still not on the KNVA schedule, but I've gotten email confirmation that the game will be shown - plus it's now finally showing up on the Time Warner guide for Sat night 7pm. They're just not going to market it... but it will be on.
