Texans 2015 Free Agency

Good, I need a shot of adrenaline. I was beginning to slide into a lack of Texans news daze despite being up until 3 this morning working on a new draft mock.

How do you "work" on a draft? And how many drafts do you do every year?

Rahim Moore...isn't he the guy that completely misplayed the Jacoby Jones TD that lead to the Ravens win and eventual championship?

rahim-moore-jacoby-jones.jpg

Yes but he has been pretty damn good since then.

Must be that "Kareem Jackson Syndrome"

2. Rahim Moore
2014 Grade: +2.4
2014 Snaps: 1150

After an injury-shortened 2013, Moore bounced back to grade positively in coverage last season. Only two safeties bested his five interceptions and he had among the lowest Yards per Cover Snap at the position (0.25). Run defense is a question mark, as he graded at -3.3 there in 2014, with missed tackles one of the main issues. However, he’s shown ability defending the run before, as his 2012 season indicates, and considering his age (25, the youngest player on this list), Moore should still be one of the most coveted defensive backs once free agency starts.

If Texans sign Moore he'll join SS DJ Swearinger, entering his third season. FS Kendrick Lewis' contract has expired

Rahim Moore was Broncos second round pick who's 25. Entering 5th season. If texans get him he'll join Hoyer as team's 2nd UFA.

Texans have been looking to bolster safety and Moore visited Wednesday. He fits what Romeo Crennel wants from his position.

Why the heck would we be going after someone who would be considered one of the biggest 2011 Draft busts?

We'll pay him "bust" money. He's 25, but you're not going like his medical records.

If we can snag this kid i'll be very pleased...got tired of seeing falling down just as the WR's is about to make the catch in the end zone...

I'm confused. CND was referring to Daquan Bowers as a draft bust, but you're talking about Rahim Moore.

Which one has the worrisome medical history?

Eagles could be a good fit for Stills. There seems to be an Oklahoma connection going on in Philly with Murray & Bradford.

How do you "work" on a draft? And how many drafts do you do every year?
After reviewing other posters for years it seems we all work differently. Some review only this MB for what others say and then present "their own" mocks. Others listen only to certain radio, TV or internet guys + this MB. Then there are a few who do all this but actually watch games and game film. In college football there seems to always be something going on that impacts a college or players and therefore the draft. I focus only on those players I think will be a consideration for Texans. Still others research for other "team favorites" or the entire NFL.

A sample of my "work" is Vince Mayle WR from Washington St who I follow. 6' 2" 224 who went from 63/804 @ 12.8 as Jr 2013 to 106/1483 @14 & 9 TDs. Wow, right? Combine 40 : 4.67. uh oh. scratch. I found out later he had broken his right thumb (hand planted for stance)which impacts launch. Today is his pro day. He could move from a possible 6th to a 3-4. This is for my "board."

I not only use Draftek, OTC, Spotrac, ESPN draft, Walter, Our Lads, Battle Red Blog, Rotoworld.com, and the usual radio analysts but a few others I keep to myself.

How many mocks? I will probably average 3-4 per day. The issue seems to be just as I come up with the "perfect" one, I begin debating those choices. Is that offensive tackle needed or do I think Newton will be signed and FA vet will sign to replace Clabo and his $1.22 m? So far I got half of that right. I move OT off my list. I happily missed on KJ returning and Joseph leaving as a result may not happen. I found out late last night he says team has not approached him to adjust his final year cap#. That's interesting to me. Even if he goes, I am ok with Boye, Morrris and Rolle, and Hal is intriguing so..priority drops but is Strong in first and Eric Rowe CB in 4th better than Malcom Brown and Tony Lippett? Lippett ran a 4.61 but has a pre 2014 4.44 and most "mockers" don't research to know that.

Well you asked :)

NFL source on New Orleans: "The #Saints are literally shopping every single player on their roster. Complete fire sale." #NotQuiteButClose

There nothing to worry about his medical.

Are we talking about Bowers or Moore here? Gets confusing in these all-in-one threads.

I thought that was about Moore and his issue with compartmentalized something or other leg syndrome or something.

My "medicals" comments was a response to Dr. CND post regard DaQuan Bowers.

Screw that let's get him here. I really liked him coming out and was holding we would draft him.

Brees must be pulling his hair out. Graham traded- Grubbs traded- now Stills going to be traded. Got to think Brees is gone too. Saints blowing up the team.

He's got the speed we're looking for to open up lanes underneath for DHop & TE's. Good tracking skills with the ball in the air deep. In two years in NO as their 3rd guy at best he made the most of his targets with 95 catches for 1,572 & 8 TD's in those 133 looks. I'd let go of a 4th in a second to get him.

It almost looks like the Saints are punishing Brees for refusing to restructure his deal.

Stills salary
2015 $585,000
2016 $675,000

Wow a true fire sale in New Orleans. According to reports NO ONE PLAYER is unavailable. Jeez. #Saints

Me too but doctors have said there is no worry of that type injury having any kind of re-acuring problems.

Playoffs was referring to Bowers who has been dealing with his share of injury issues.

Moor's "compartment syndrome" is indeed in his type of exercise-induced case typically a one and done issue, despite the fact that he could have lost his leg in that incident. Although ~15% recurrence is possible, his complete surgical fascia release of the compartment makes this much less likely.

Where were all you guys when stills was in the draft? All I remember is getting grief for liking him so much.

How much is Brees's contract? Why aren't we on the phone with his agent?

Brees is getting in the mid 20 million this year and he is short for an NFL QB. BOB no likey either.

I was calling for him.

Check out some of my mocks from that yr. I know you were on board too. Stills wasn't the type of big blocking WR (Walters) that Kubiak was looking for.

Texans should trade for stills. Put him in the slot and let him go to work.

You can't make a judgment without knowing the other side of the equation.

Who would you trade for him that would be acceptable to the Saints? Posey?

There's only so much a Front Office can do if the STAR won't cooperate. It's not punishment, it's finance in a league with a CAP.

I get that. However, they did just sign Browner to a substantial contract... Interesting to make that move but trade Graham and potentially Stills (who counts so little against the cap).

Nice. That's two of the three most needed positions according to the drafting games. QB and FS down, WR to go with great depth in the draft.
